Grievous Bodily harm... my necron blog

    Evening all/ good morning.

I'm got myself a small necron force following the release of the new book as I really like the eccentricity of the leaders and fancied doing a droid style army.

My force commander will be my interpretation of General Grievous - cookies if you can guess the parts used to make his feet! I've magnetised his feet so he can be either on a base or command barge. As it stands I've gone for Grievous as droid commander and as such will be using him as Nemesor Zahndrekh. I will be modding his base to include a space marine which has been impaled by his second hyperphase sword - or warscythe - undecided yet.

So far I have 15 Immortals split 7:8 tesla: gauss simply because we don't know what will be happening with 6th ed come the summer so have decided to hedge my bets. I also have 5 Lychguard with Lord, a cryptek and 2 barges to paint up.

The models below are needless to say WIP. My main issue is my immortals are 2 colour at the minute - thinking of adding some metallics to the spines to break up the colour. I intend to paint the lychguard as 'shiny' as befitting their greater martial status. I'm considering adding trophy weapons to the general along with a cloak. I will get him painted first though and then consider.

C+C as always is welcome - I'm not an amazing painter but wanted the motivation to get my 1k gaming standard force to the table. I shan't be getting more necrons until the 2nd wave as I'd like some wraiths, scythes and tomb blades - fingers cross they get released!

    many thanks in advance!
    Nick

i cant tell from the pics if they are rust or orange but i would defo add some metallics just to brake up the colours but t'other than that keep it up man :0

Sorry for the poor pics - will endeavour to do better next time! - They are supposed to be rusty/ orange in colour - i took the recipe from the "rust-crons" blog and I'm sorry as I can't remember the name of the poster so it's thanks to them for the recipe. I will add the metallics but for some reason I don't have any metal paints so need to go shopping before they finish.

I've made a good start on the general so it's more WIP pics!

Feet look like the end pieces of a gauss flayed array with blades attached.

    Cookie?

You get half but not a full cookie yet! The claws are blades but from where? The feet aren't from gauss but you're warm, and you'd be 'shocked' to find out where from...

    Evening all,
been a while before updates but it's been mad at work for the past couple of months. I'm plodding with my painting like the army's advance. Looking forward to the 2nd wave but need to finish all this first. Managed to get my lychguard painted and my 2nd immortal squad is WIP along with the cryptek. Minor updates but I'll get there! Comments welcomed as always!

Re: Grievous Bodily harm... my necron blog

    More updates!
It's been a while due to life and work. I've picked up some wraiths and have got them near enough painted.
I've also added some chipping to the immortals and also a colour to their torsos and backs to break up the brown. I've also got trazyn very well on the way to completion too. The only thing that really needs some speedy progress are my annihilation barges. The plan is to have all the painting done this week so I just have basing to do. I should be picking up a couple of scythes for my birthday next month and look forward to adding them to the collection!

I'm really pleased with the uniformity of what I've done so far and really like the wraiths - just a shame they're so massive!

    ANY comments are welcome!

    many thanks!

They are looking good, any idea what kind of bases you're going to do?
There is a fine line between genius and insanity, I have accidently blured this line. Sorry

Can I ask how did you do the metal on the wraiths please? Would be interested to paint some Cryx stuff.

Thank you! - Imp of high noon - I hadn't thought of what was going to go on the bases. I have a load of modelling sand and static grass I considered using - a bit old school perhaps but I'm open to ideas!

Crom - It was a black spray, boltgun metal, gryphonne sepia, ogryn flesh, devlan mud, thraka green. Very easy but looks very funky I think!

Today on the table I'm going to try and get as far as possible with my barges before tonight's game!

Thanks, it looked easy but I'm not familiar with GW washes. Two other questions before I go get the paints:
Did you drybrush the metal or simply cover the whole surface with it?
Do you apply all washes everywhere or only on selected parts?

Re: Grievous Bodily harm... my necron blog

For the metal I got my largest brush which is an old citadel tank brush, and I would say it was more overbrush than pure drybrush. The finish was smooth before I applied the washes. I then washed the whole model with the washes in that order. Hope that helps!

    Evening all,

I'm looking for some input and help please!
    1) What to do for basing?! Any suggestions would be grateful mulled over.
    2) Due to get a couple of scythes for my birthday and can't decide whether to paint them in the same style as my barges or my lychguard and wraiths. What do you guys reckon?

    many thanks for your input!
