Must be blind but can't see your barges and therefore cannot help.

Haven't tried your wash technique yet but the paints (well their modern version) are bought ;-). I'm still pondering on whether i should drybrush Chainmail rather than overbrush Boltgun. I'll show the results if interested but be patient, I'm a young dad.

    Thanks Mediko!

Crom - you're not blind, I'm asking you to see things that aren't here - far more challenging! I'll get some pics posted this week if I get chance. I have an interview for a position with more responsibility at work and on top of other things my mind is all over the place at the minute.

Good luck with your time finding. I find it hard enough juggling wife and work. With such a delight thrown in (meant positively!) it must be challenging. The overbrushed boltgun gives a smoother finsih as the first 2 of my wraiths I drybrushed and it looked quite "scratchy" if that's what you're after then go for it! Good luck and look forward to seeing how you get on.

    all the best,
    Nick

My crons are going to warhammer world on july 15th for a 1250 tournament. This morning in the post I recieved my new general. Looking forward to getting him painted up in time for the 15th. The barges are on their way as are more updates in the next couple of weeks...

    Afternoon all,

I'm taking my crons to warhammer world a week today for a 1250 point tourney. I'm trying to make my overlord stand out a little more so modelled him with a marine on his base. The marine and scythe are blu-tacked at the minute and I'm wondering what do you think? does it look ok or super rubbish? C+C please! Alternatively instead of the scythe I could replace it with a hyperphase sword, or simply not bother!Click image for larger version.

On the marine front, it does look a touch stark, it looks a little too much like just a marine stuck to a base. One of the 'marine casualty' models from GW might look a little more natural. Alternatively you could try a more subtle approach and cut the marine across the torso lengthwise, pad the base out with green stuff, and 'embed the marine part into the base, giving the effect of a marine corpse having become half buried, his body unmoved as the increasing mud/rubble that builds up during a prolonged conflict slowly swallows him away. Could even model the lord to look like his disdainfully stamping the enemy corpse further down into the dirt.

Thanks for your reply baphomael - more I think about it, the more daft it looks. In terms of cutting across the torso lengthwise do you mean cutting "through the armpit and hip" to the same on the otherside or down the length of the chest through the back? apologies for my stupidity but i can't visualise what you mean. Many thanks again!

Well... it's not even 4.30pm and my army is ready and painted, even with 3 objective markers. Army fluff and army lists printed and laminated. The tournament doesn't even start until 9am tomorrow - is this some form of record?! I've managed to accomplish what I set out to do and I'm really happy with the results. I'll get some pics put up next week of my army and also anything tasty at the tournament. Thank you for those that have commented and looked at the blog. For my birthday which is in a couple of weeks I'll hopefully get some scythes and deathmarks and they will be next on the painting table!

    all the best!

It's been nearly a yaer's hiatus but since then I've added the following:

    5 Immortals
    9 Deathmarks
    3 Spyders
    3 Heavy destroyers
    Doom Scythe
    Obyron
    Szeras

over the next week I'll get some army shots done and what the final force looked like. It's been resurrected and I've enjoyed adding the new bits. The new Tau are providing some stiff competition so things are being added!

    Aternoon all,

here are the pics of my necrons as they stand... although I forgot a photo of my deathmarks. Only thing I'd say is that the army looks a lot better on the table top than up close. The spyders need the particle weapons finishing too. Cheers!
