But I think (for what its worth) that there is stuff coming for at least 5 other armies before we see the Tau stuff. (unless they release something in advance of the main release?)

But as you know I don't follow 40K that closely so I could be completely wrong.

Yes. I have heard about some stuff coming for Eldar.

Thanks Harry but I'm going with Ghost/Stickmonkey on this one for a Q1/2 release.. especially since Ghost specializes in 40k xenos and you specialize in fantasy. Either way everyone is pointing to a 2012 release for Tau, it just a matter pinpointing the exact date.

Remember Harry gets info of stuff much later in the process than i do, he could be right (im stil annoyed about sisters of battle who will now sit done for at least 18 months if not longer)

BT as a book with the SM mystery flier seems likely as a release before Tau.
Necrons wave makes a ton of sense.
IG have some models that have been rumored for a while.
Nids wave has been rumored, but may be tied up by the Chapterhouse legal drama.
Void Raven bomber still needs to come out. Could add it to another wave.
Thunderwolves have been rumored, but may be in the same boat as Nid wave 2.

Ok you two, so if I understand you somewhat correctly, then it "might" look like this:


The next CODEX is either Tau or Black Templar (tendency towards Tau), but before that there will be (model) releases for up to 5 different 40k armies.

"Logically", that comes down to:
- The "last" Dark Eldar wave
- Imperial Guard (Hydras and Veterans)
- Necron second wave
- Tyranids (as they need a ton of stuff since their release)
- Eldar (has Harry mentioned it)

As the Codex Tau is rumored to be before the 6th edition (which it self comes around July/August), that gives us a 3-6 month window for those releases....

Could you please confirm/deny the accuracy of this "summary"?

I just talked to our local, independent games store owner. He *claimed* that his GW contact *claimed* that Tau was being discontinued. I kind of didn't believe it, and after reading this thread I *really* don't believe it. I just thought I'd mention it as this was the Tau rumor thread and, well, that was a rumor. I *assume* nobody's heard anything similar. (?)

What he probably meant is that they have stopped production of (most) exiting kits to run down stock before the new book. Or at least, that was likely what he was told and he misinterpreted it. He likely also heard that the Tau Codex would be no longer available for order soon, which is exactly what happens when a new book is about to become available.
This sounds like some back 'broken telephone' and your local shop guy needs to get his head straight. If he's telling people who buy stuff from him "Yea, this stuff I got for sale? Won't be valid soon. It'll be mostly useless in the near future. Would you like to buy some?" Then he doesn’t understand how to run a business.

No doubt. If they're willing to resurrect Dark Eldar, resuscitate Sisters, and rebuild the Grey Knights, Tau are not going anywhere. It was the most popular non-Imperial army at my LGS until Necrons got their recent book. Dark Eldar were a close second, though.
