Honestly, I thought I heard about all the codeci(WTF) being updated before 6ed, but whatever. Really don't know what to believe any more with no leaks. It really would be a paradigm shift if a new rule set included codex updates and did not have to use so many special rules for so many units. However, the few armies of GW models I have bought were because I like the models and they are a model company...that offers rules for their models; which they compile to sell more models, which in turn allows them to employ many excellent model maker or die(cast)technicians which makes awesome models I want to buy. See a pattern?

I realized this many years ago, and combined with my income, expendable time, buddies that I can enjoy the hobby with, and business and codex cycle; sometimes GW does not get MY money for a few years. Reminds me of skiing, or snowboarding, whatever you want to call that hobby.(BTW I only snowboard but call it skiing, just like I tell anyone who does not know GW games it is chess with dice...)
Yes, I agree with the concept of GW being a miniature company, and I do think that in this area never seen higher quality (you can say some of their miniatures are not exactly what you'd like, but it is a matter of taste). it is a pity that they make the rules in service of selling that miniature or that other. Anyway, if the game was streamlined, and had no such an amount of minirules, the codex would be much thiner, isn't it? I'd prefer a stronger core and less exceptions to normal rules, sometimes is a headache to remember EVERY minor detail with some units that perhaps you don't use in a couple of months (let's see... they were stubborn?... no they had a special rule... which was?...) By the way, my other hobby is playing bass guitar, I think much cheaper and easy to learn than games workshop rules!!! And perhaps cheaper than skiing, so i am always eager to spend some cash in GW and FW models... But when I try to have buddies to play with me... so much explanations, so much "remember that?" or "yes, now I can assault though with that other unit you couldn't, it's a special rule!"

If the tau codex is no longer avaible to stock up, does anyone remember when the old necron codex became unavaible to stock up? Does 9-12 months in advance seem reasonable?

@xxslayerxx: I honestly have no idea about Tau WD release, but if I were to take an estimated guess, it'd be next few months. July perhaps?

NO! WE WOULD NOT BE HAPPY WITH FINECAST BROADSIDES!

Sorry, I shouldn't make such broad blanket statements. I would not be happy with failcast because the old hybrid ones are too fragile as it is. I want a new sculpt, possibly to go along with new crisis suits.

I would hope they would respect the Tau more than to give them a WD treatment. After all, Sisters of Battle were at east an oftne not-seen army at many tournies and continue to be which allowed them to do it. But the Tau are rich in history and you actually SEE them in tournies, sometimes doing very well. My last 5 game tourney with Tau I went 4-1.

Tau will get their own codex. This I must beleive. But the sculpts and model production sometimes takes a while and that's probably why May isn't happeneind for us and a new codex.

It sure is, and if you want express shipping you'll be paying through the nose in Canada for it!

@ShaS'O'Stormblade, in all fairness im not a big fan on failcast myself, i completly agree with u, they need completly new shiny models but if the book does come out in early 2013 then gw will prob do farsight, shodowsun and broadsides in failcast to try and keep us "happy". WE NEED NEW MODELS but if the book aint coming out until 2013 then id rather have failcast for now :/ just metal broadsides seems to shatter real bad when they fall, believe me i know

@gilljoy yh it is :/ but apparently independent stockists cant get it anymore, dont know if its true or whether its just that one independent stockist

Currently I've not had many problems with fine cast. The worst I had was one of the rail rifles on a sniper drone was warped beyond all recognition. Good thing is I wasn't using it to make sniper drones but a custom TX-42. The other models I have bought or my friends have bought (Blood Thirster, Lhamaean, Wolf Lord on Thunder Wolf, Iron Priest) turned out pretty good with minor bubbling. I would enjoy a fine cast hybrid set for Broadsides to make them less top heavy.

As I understand it upgrade kits are produced in rein but not finecast- note the lack of finecast symbols in white dwarf next to bonesword packs and heavy destroyer upgrade packs

GW has become a bit more flexible in their releases. VC got some units months before the actual release, so there's that. Wouldn't surprise me if we got some mundane things for now. If only so they can phase out the metal faster (talking about pewter, not Necrons).

Honestly, I don't see a white dwarf in our future. There's been too much information just from my source alone, for me to believe that we aren't getting a book before the end of Q1 2013.

We are just wary after the Sisters of Battle codex mix-up. For some of us it will be a "I'll believe it when I see it" kind of mentality. We believe you for the most part, but some others are just kinda thick-headed sometimes.

No one ever said or hinted it would be a WD update. So why stress about it?

It almost reads like Harry is getting angry. I never thought I'd see that happen.

Again, sorry about even mentioning the WD Dex. It was a typed fear. Forget it was ever mentioned. please... We don't want Harry to lose his pies do we?

Re: Tau Rumours 3.0 (see first post for round-up)

I think something that is driving people absolutely batty is the fact that a lot of people feel like they are in an information blackout, so while we are getting good rumors we are also hearing from a lot of people that the rumors aren't true. We are also hearing a lot of false rumors as a result of the echo chamber that is warhammer rumor forums on the internet. Add to that the need to voice fears/opinions/wishes in rumor threads and you get this weird situation where the echo chamber grabs misinformation and bounces it around a few times until it becomes a "full fledged rumor".

    This can be very frustrating.

Sad but true. Although, there wouldn't be much discussion if there was no hopes or fears in the conversation. There would be a lot of short "about time" posts though. We tend to include personal thoughts, fears, and hopes in conversations when all the information is not present. Sadly, it appears that my fear is one shared by many, who took it and ran with it. Human nature I suppose.

I agree, which is why I have no desire to see people stop sharing their hopes and fears. I think the one thing I would like to see people do more is cite sources when their source is another web site. A lot of people do this but others do not and sometimes it leads to echo chamber rumors. Ultimately this place is a forum for people to talk, and I for one am glad of it.
