    I really doubt it. From what I've seen, the only mentions of a WD release have been from people randomly speculating.

    Also, GW can't be THAT cruel, can they? They know we've been waiting for a new codex for a long time and are desperately in need of one. SoB are a fairly unpopular army, so they could get away with a WD army list with not too much complaint, but Tau (despite being one of the oldest codecies) is still a reasonably popular army. Their will be a few unhappy customers if GW gave that sort of treatment to Tau. Unforunately, I wouldn't put it completely past them.

    Where is this WD dex panic coming from? Tau are supposed to be the first 40K book of 2013, and they have quite a few models which GW can release in plastic. Sisters got their WD dex to phase out Codex: Witchhunters, without invalidating the army until they get around to a proper redo.

    Sorry, I think that was me. I mentioned it in passing as a possibility to explain the weirdness of rumors. Harry saying no and Shabadoo(sorry if I messed up your name) saying yes. The Sisters of Battle ended up being a Dwarf dex when similar thing were happening a while back. I hope Tau are coming, but fear the White Dwarf codex.

    I have no information that is credible. My conjecture on a White Dwarf codex was just a fear induced guess.

    So their intention is to have codexes that have plenty of rules that don't need the core...mmmm

    So, may this be the reason why they do hundreds of mini rules with every codex that expand the core rulebook SO MUCH and make the game difficult to enjoy, as there are SO MUCH rules???

    This is the reason why they can't wipe out things and once and for all, have a complete redesign?

    There were rumors of new SoB models once, and where did they go? If they really exist and those sources were reliable, then the WD codex is a viable bump towards a new full 'dex because a new line of models means new codex. It just means a WD update will delay it... another year or more

    Really want to start tau as my next 40k army but the age of the codex as well as the fact that I'd need alot of battlesuits puts me off

    The Wd update could just be the form of a bigger FAQ or something to fix some rules for 6th possibly?

    welcome to the age of big business...just pass the buck and CYA muthaf'er.

    Honestly, I thought I heard about all the codeci(WTF) being updated before 6ed, but whatever. Really don't know what to believe any more with no leaks. It really would be a paradigm shift if a new rule set included codex updates and did not have to use so many special rules for so many units. However, the few armies of GW models I have bought were because I like the models and they are a model company...that offers rules for their models; which they compile to sell more models, which in turn allows them to employ many excellent model maker or die(cast)technicians which makes awesome models I want to buy. See a pattern?

    I realized this many years ago, and combined with my income, expendable time, buddies that I can enjoy the hobby with, and business and codex cycle; sometimes GW does not get MY money for a few years. Reminds me of skiing, or snowboarding, whatever you want to call that hobby.(BTW I only snowboard but call it skiing, just like I tell anyone who does not know GW games it is chess with dice...)

    Honestly, this codex is pretty strong. With a WD update it might get to be second tier, maybe higher. Give me a Waaagghhh! rule but backwards, some more range on the guns, and give the Kroot an assualt description on their gun and the Tau Empire might kick even more A@#!

    hiya people im pretty new to this forum but heres some stuff that i found on one of the other forums, thought it might interest u guys

    So I just got off the phone with Chaos Mail Order. Apparently they can no longer order tau codices or metal models from GW, and have been told by GW to "wait for finecast models", specifically XV88s and another battlesuit which I couldn't quite get the name of (not XV.

    If this is GW forecasting their supply chain, I think we're all in for a happy surprise."

    whatever we are gettin should hopefully make our codex better, we really need a price drop on all of our units as they are far too expensive atm, i tried comparing a necron warrior to a tau fire warrior on another forum and came to an obvious conclusion that a necron warrior has better LD, S, T, WS, BS and has ressurection and is only a few more points more expensive then a fire warrior, our fire warrior only having the advantage of having a better weapon :/

    Also heres a tau v necron battle report if anyones interested

    metal models have been direct only ever since finecast came out. That would include XV88s, though I'm curious about the Tau codex...

    I've been checking the GW site for a while now just in case something gets taken down and haven't seen anything so far. Not being able to stock the codex is certainly interesting. Anyone here able to back that up with personal experience?

    yes defo, although i am keeping an eye out for any changes on the games workshop site (on pretty much all the armies) i cannot see anything different, we have the second wave of necrons coming up soon (in May) and then it should be some sort of fantasy release in June...it makes sense really as there has been a fantasy/40k pattern for a while now...although if it really is tau in June like some people are saying then i will be really surprised and well happy XD

    @meltedwing
    no i havent heard anything personally, although someone i know who works for gw said that dark angels are going to be sometime soon as they are in the starter painting set. Maybe if we all tried getting in touch with different independent stockists we could get some sort of answer? i know it sounds abit ridicilous but id personally be willing to try

    I believe if the Tau get a White Dwarf update, it'll be for the best. I'm sure their Codex isn't that far away, but with the new Edition of Rules about to hit, the Tau Codex is very stuffy and often hard to read/understand for beginning players. They'll probably stream line it and keep it simple until all the new cool stuff comes out mid-late next year.

    @theDarkGeneral
    when do u think the white dwarf update will come out then? any ideas? during the new 40k release or just before it?

    I was thinking though if the new 40k book comes out would they not have to like update fluff for tau....as its the 4th sphere expansion so there should be new alien races in the empire? if the rumours are true that is....i just dont think it will make sense to write the new 40k rulebook and basically keep the old fluff for tau....and if there is new fluff then theyd surely be giving it away by mentioning the new races that are within the tau empire? hope that makes sense to everyone

    hell all thay need to do is a farsight enclave WD dex and drop some new crisis suite / broardside models on us. espeshley if he makes them scoring. its a win win thay get to sell a tone of models and we get new shiny XV8 to play with. they can tweak the rest of the dex and re include farsight with any tweaks they need to make.

    Huh. The Tau dex no longer availiable? Interesting. I wonder if it's just a one-off or if my local games store has the same issue. Be interesting if GW comes out with a WD list as a stop-gap. That would make me happy until a true dex gets released (and also make me buy an issue of White Dwarf).

    As it it stands now, IMO, the Tau have one of the weakest codex out there right now alongside Nids and Dark Angels. Something's gotta give.

    from my understanding of all the chatter, all the codex from the nids onwards were made with 6th somewhat in mind
