A quick shot of my horde. I have decided to goal the army too 2000 instead of 2500. Time and money saved. Ill add to it later on when its all complete. Takes a bit of stress off me as well.

Re: Savage Orcs! A new way to do this!

YAY! Another update its been too long. I fell into some more good deals. My LGS was selling 25% warhammer so I picked up Marches order early which put me behind on the envelope (negative actually) and in the dog house with the wife! I picked up ten more savages, three more trolls and five more boar boys!

So I have allot of figs too do but I decided to cut down to 2000 as my target goal to save time and money as stated before. So far I have spent $327 dollars on this army and now have enough (when painted) to do 2000 points.

Aces Loki, can't beat finding cheep GW product. It seems rarer and rarer. You need some unit spacers for your hoard. Why not sculpt up an idol that fits on a 50mm then tell the wife how much money you saved! They like that.

Re: Savage Orcs! A new way to do this!

OK some more stuff I fnished putting together three trolls. converted a chariot, still need to add crew. And made my BSB.

Wed I hope to get ten archers put together and five more boar boys. We shall see though. First game on friday! Ok stats on the large howda stone horne:

    M WS BS S T W I A LD
7 3 0 6 6 6 2 5 5 Using all the rules and options from WD 381 adding a crew of three savages in a 4+ howda. hand weapons and spears. 300 points even in addition to the WD article rules im adding in animosity not because the stone horne gets into arguments rather he goes on a pyscotic rampage or whatever. More to come!

Good solid stuff all around, and I will second that comment 'Student'

Also nice to see the AOW savage orc as a BSB, nice conversion.

Re: Savage Orcs! A new way to do this!

Update time! Here is a wip shot of the whole army and a wip shot of of my centerpiece. I had my first battle vs Chaos dwarves from the forge world book. Man are they tough! It was a good battle but in the end I saw victory. Mostly because he didnt take a BSB. That would have saved him a few times. here is my list

    roughly

Savage orc warlord (warboar, bashas axe, chrmed shield, potion of speed, seed of rebirth)
lvl 4 savage orc shaman (dispell scroll, terrifing mask of eeeee!)
lvl2 savage orc shaman (lucky shrunken head)
37 savage orcs (full comand , stabba, extra hand weapons)
20 savage orc archers (bare in two units of ten)
9 boar boys (full command, add weapons, big uns, banner of swiftness)
    six trolls (barf)
1 chariot (regular chariot no frills)
1 stone horn mount (stone horn stats inc updrages from WD and three savage orc crew 300 points)

    2200 points

The guys are just blu-taced in. I think what I'm going to do is get a few of the old OOP savage orcs. Sculpt some long chin hair or the like and paint it grey. Then use these for the chariot, stone horn and maybe a rock lobber crew. Since I don't want goblins I wont add a figure for them. Rather, ill figure exchange on the crew using one orc in place of a few goblins. Ill explain the lack of beserk and frenzy or reduced stats as these are the elders of the tribe that have "retired" to these positions. While the younger ones seek glory in the foot and boar boys regiments.

One gamer suggested that instead of using my homemade rules for the stonehorn that I just use the archnarock stats (again exchanging 8 goblins for three retirees savage orcs!) In the long run I think this will be better and more accepted at pick up games or tournies.

    Army shot

    Thank you!

Looking great! I've always been a fan of blue warpaint(maybe I have Braveheart to blame for that haha?), and you've done a great job! I also like the Shaman and the trolls!
Ah and yes, can't wait to see that Stonehorn painted!

Great looking army so far, the savages look great. Especially the stone weapons and tattoos.

Great stuff, I like colourful armies like this! They all look like little candies, you just wanna eat them Nice idea on the Stonehorn conversion, fits in well with the savage theme.

Really great progress!... I remember reading some where in this log, that you weren't going to spend a lot of money on this army - how is that coming along ?
