And if they hadnt changed the names as all the colours are different I am sure they would have just had all the rants about the colours changing instead. and thats not to mention any other reasons that I aint thinking of.
As said above there are actually 3 pinks, basically ignore the colour patches they are terrible, i mean bleached bone seems to be a green on them for a start.
They are rather dark though.
You mean the digital ones or the ones printed out in the stores? Because if you mean the digital ones, that seams to be your monitor calibration(according to the RGB value represented at GW.com Screaming Skull is a darkish yellow/light brown with no increased green component)

My observations:
Bases: Ceramite white takes two layers over black. This alone is impressive. The bases are a good compramise between opacity and vividity. They cover almost as well as Foundations, but are brighter colors. Positive.
Layers: These go on very smoothly. They 'bahave' better than the current paints. Otherwise not much to say. Positive.
Shades: Much more sensitive than Washes. I left some imperfections in the quick and dirty undercoat and they picked them right up. They left the appearance of obscuring detail in the corners, but after scraping with a blade I found it was an illusion, as the paint was in fact very thin. Nuln Oil is very black-brown, almost like a Charadon Granite in the recesses. Positive.
Drys: I really don't like these, and won't be getting any. I understand what GW tried to do; I've noticed partly dried paints are easier to drybrush with too. But they are too gummy to use effectively. Negative.
Textures: These have potential for weathering tanks, but they are not suitable for basing. As a way to weather, they might be good; I'd almost like to see a metallic silver Texture. Neutral.
Glazes: These have potential, and I can see some uses. I suspect if I were a better painter I'd see more. I'd need to play with them a bit to realize their potential, I think. Positive.
Overall except for the Drys I'm pleased. I'll not be running out for the Mega Pait set, but I will be buying these in time. The only problem remains the fact the colors changed (the names are irritating, but inconsequntial). But for those armies that remain half finished I'll cope, whether through other manufacturers or mapping across to best fits.

Nice little round up, I have given them a try now and the Dry brush paints are good imo. They are quite gummy as you say, but thats the point really. It saves you from wasting normal paints on kitchen roll drying the brush.
There are another 5 that i havent tried out, called technical I think. Has anyone had any experience using these?
the technical are just thinks like the varnishes and mediums. I still have a near full pot of ard coat for all that I use it with its glossy finish and I have Vallejo medium so I doubt I will be using these much as I also believe other places have a 'liquid greenstuff'' equivalent.
Yep, technicals are stuff like Liquid Green stuff, 'Ard Coat (or whatever it's called now), and Lahmian Medium.

Even Ushabti Bone has no higher green component. Check it on a color-wheel, it is a dark yellow
(RGB = 188, 188, 128).
But the digital "drop" looks much different from the photographed pot. Clearly. The pot looks much more red-ish (RGB = 193, 165, 126) than the digital spot in the right upper corner of the picture.
So... in case I wanna buy online, which colour I actually get? The grey yellow or the grey skin?

I actually quite liked the textured paint for doing basing... No more feet stuck in piles of sand... no more PVA'ing etc. I think i'll be using them to base my armies from now on.
naaa I disagree there, the textures are not good enough for basing on their own. you still need the old sand and paint etc... other wise it just looks too one dimensional imo. Though I have only treid teh sandy colour one. There is a snow one as well i believe and that could be interesting.

Hrrmmm..um, uh-oh. I noticed other posters stating the Base paints are a little bit brighter than the Foundation paints. Is there anything that compares to the dull Merchite Red (a color I have pretty much done an entire army in), or am I out of luck? Looking on the website, it seems Khorne Red might be close, but it seems a bit too dark. And I don't see much of a comparable color to Khemri Brown (the color I use on all of the sides of my bases...sigh...). Closest thing looks like that Steel Legion Drab but, again, seems dark.
Mephiston red with a blue glaze will come close to Mechrite. There are no matches out of the pot AFAIK. Khemri will probably be in a similar situation.

Thanks. Goofing around on GWs website, I found that they posted a conversion chart to show which of the new colors most closely replaces the old ones. I heard this was going to be in the next WD, but they have it on their site already. You were right on with the Mephiston Red. I was way off with the Khemri, it says Baneblade Brown is the best match. Hm.
Sorry if this has been said before, but have they solved the problem the last lot had with the lids not staying open?
It's always such a pain trying to paint with the lids constantly half closing, really slows the process down.
