I am more interested in knowing what colours will be deleted from the range so I can stock up on those I know I'll be needing. Has anyone heard anything on specific colours that are going OOP?

It used to vex me, until I started using Vallejo Game Color analogs. Brassy Brass matches Brazen Brass perfectly, and my army looks consistent even though it straddles two brands' takes on the same ubiquitous color.
Now the only reason I pay attention is so that I can grab a bunch of half-price paint pots when they get discontinued.![]()
You really think they will lower the prices for those pots that won't get continued?

GW ought to remove themselves from the paint/glue industry in general. Well except maybe for some choice washes.
I can understand they want to be a 1-stop shop: models, paint, clippers, basing material, glue, etc but with so many superior options out there I really think they should just focus on models and the games themselves. The only GW stuff I buy is models and rules. Used to buy their paint, but I've been phasing my existing pots out for vallejo for years...
None of the above. Basically, I, as an irresponsible consumer, bought a big bag of 'limited release' paint set that I didn't really need just because I am moving house and thought it's a good way to keep it all together. I already own 99% of the range in various stages of evaporation which I was going to use until I move in March, at which point I will throw my old paints away and use the new ones. Here's the thing, at Ł155, it's a big lay down for something that will have been replaced by the time I use it by a presumably better product. What I won't be doing now is buying a new set <however much I will really want to> because I just forked out this cash. If I'd have known about this, I would have made the decision not to bother buying the mega paint set and get the new stuff as it's released. I am just a tiny bit pee'd off that GW have boxed it up and sold it like that knowing the range will be replaced in the next 3 months.

I think you're getting a bit ahead of yourself here. You wanted paint and you bought paint, a few months down the line it's not going to stop being paint.
I don't think the range will be replaced by something new completely in a few months, just something else will come along as well as. This is just a rumour mill going off the scale, all we know is what's written on the front page so let's not talk ourselves into thinking we know something when we don't.

Ad to this that you will have a super complete selection of paints ;-)
I bought the Eavy Metal Brush set, and in that set you get two pots of Eavy metal Medium. First i found it strange that they would set up a production line for a limited release. So i presumed something new would be on the horizon.
Then i noticed something that made it 100% clear to me that something new is up. The letters on the pots (the one's that say what is in it) are printed on the pot it self. Instead of on a sticker. And the paint pot will stay open if i want it to ;-).
So they will at the very least change the pots. And i think the new line will be some flashy "eavy metal line" or something like that.

Hold on to your Mega Paint set. When GW comes out with the new paints, someone, somewhere is likely to be upset. They could make them out of powdered gold and unicorn farts and someone would complain that they liked the old ones better. Sell the old set on Ebay to someone wrapped up in a fit of paintrage.
Mentioned several times already on here but Chaos Black paint is the top selling GW item by units sold. They would be insane to get rid of just because there are equivalents widely available elsewhere for less. Same goes for a lot of their hobby products. They make them a lot of money.
Obvious but true - if GW didn't sell paint then a shop down the street will be the place everyone goes, and if they sell Perry Miniatures then they may catch your eye instead.

Just that. It's alright for us; but if GW stops selling paint, then the wee kids will go elsewhere for paint, and beside those paints they'll see glue, and on a shelf nearby the paint and glue they'll see minis that GW didn't make, and then they will know.
And society will crumble.
And all the people who think GW's convenient will have to leave the shop and look elsewhere. And society will... have to teach them it's ways.

Bring back tentacle pink, that's what i say! I can still never understand why they got rid of the only pink in the range - okay it might not have sold as well but i doubt vallejo sell loads of their pinks either! It was the best GW colour ever IMHO - used it on nids, and lots and lots of slaanesh and chaos stuff, eldar and dark elves... bar humbug the good old days...
To me, the timing of this rumor is very, very ominous. It was at this time last year that we heard of the metals being discontinued, and in much the same wording that is being used for this announcement, to boot.
So I guess the question is, what radical plunge downward is GW about to force onto our FLGSs, and our hobby in general? I for one, am not looking forward to finding out.
GW seems to me to be like... a trireme. One that's caught in a maelstrom, with accountants at the oars all on one side pulling for money, and gamers on the other pulling to get out of the maelstrom... and where Captain Jervis is sipping tea at the wheel, looking aft, thinking he's standing at the bow looking forward, with a wispy smile and a vacantly amused expression on his face, oblivious to it all. Who wins in the end... the gamers, or the accountants?
Neither. The maelstrom wins.
Ha! True enough. Well then, the pestered parents will see it.
Ecclesiarch: I'll mention 'em again, because they might be useful to painters like yourself - Miniature Paints. They don't have a match for tentacle pink, but they do have a fair collection of pinks and pinkishness...
