I especially like the purple, when I tried to achieve convincing looking dark purple I failed miserably.

The skin looks really good too, stands out really well on the wyches.
Thanks for the kind words, and yes he is lucky.. but then again this is taking me forever, so maybe not? The purple is really easy to do though. GW Royal Purple, highlight GW Warlock Purple, wash with Vallejo Purple Ink. Highlight if/when required.

Skin was an experiment though, and I really liked how it came out. Have another 11 wyches to paint up also, so will get to do more of it this weekend.

    Cheers

Over the past weekend I bunkered down and got a lot more done, and this is the first of many more posts showing some of the work off.

Almost done with this army, and will be able to sit down and do up the basing, and varnish, and then try to take much better photos with a borrowed DSLR camera to show them off again.

Getting close to the end of the army here.. only a few more units to go, and also am hoping to take some group shots this weekend.. show the full army in all its glory.. or at least the parts that I have done so far..

This update is the Special Character Lokhir Fellheart.. or as I know him as.. that Corsair Hero.. cause of the funky helmet. Love the helmet, and wish more of the Corsairs could have had them also. Would have been much more fun to paint them up then.

Next unit up to be shown though are the Hydra Beastmasters made from Dark Eldar Wyches. I think they came out nice!

    And the project continues on..

This time a small conversion or substitution of Dark Eldar Wyches to play as Hydra Beastmasters/handlers. No real idea on how the colors should have been, so winged it on that end, and I think it came out nice. I think from painting these guys, I could see myself owning a Dark Eldar army in the future as they were really fun to paint up.

Harpies! More of those blasted flying wenches that cause me no end of trouble in my games.. this time though they are the Gamezone models. Lovely models, a bit of a pain to paint up, but lovely all the same. The black highlights on the wings and hair got washed out in the photos, so will have to try again on the photos soon..

Another hero.. and another conversion based off of a Warmachine character. Which one, I am not sure, but it was mixed with some Dark Eldar parts to make a killer character for this force..

Third to last unit.. second to last character.. the thing I am most happy about this one is the face.. this model has such a great modeled face.. the eyes and shading I think came out the best..

Last character.. only thing left after this is the cauldron of blood.. of which the models are ready, and its just the actual cauldron itself that is needing to be finished..

Also this weekend I will be going over the entire army to touch up pieces here and there, and to do the basing on the entire thing.. the end is nigh!!!

    Re: Grisnik's Dark Elfs

And we come to the last unit of this army ( unless he goes bat crazy on ebay and finds another Dark Elf lot for cheap  )..

This is the Cauldron of Blood.. a unit that causes me no end of troubles when I play against him.. giving his units 5+ wards or extra attacks.. and being a complete pain to kill on top of it all as well..

With this.. the army is finished.. I have finished basing ( as can be seen in the photo here now ) the entire army also over the weekend ( with the help of the owner of the Dark Elfs ) and now just needing to go through the process of Varnishing them. Then I will also attempt to take much better photos of everything when I get the chance to borrow a proper camera.

As usual.. more photos and different angles can be seen on my blog..

    Thanks for looking!

    Re: Grisnik's Dark Elfs

And now we come to the close of this project.. just over 3 months to complete something like 300+ models for this Dark Elf army commission.

Have to say it was brutal, and am glad that it is over. Not so much as I didn't have fun, but more so that I can work on other things now

Dark Elf Final Army Shot Blog Post

The only other thing I can say is that I need better photos of all the units now.. so with that I am hoping to borrow a nice DSLR over the weekend, and take some better shots of everything.. hopefully it works out..

Thanks for checking out this army thread!

The character's name from Warmachine is Skarre, the pirate queen. Fitting piece to be converted into a dark elf that is for sure.

I am guessing you replaced the right arm entirely, but the left one at the start of the glove. Did you have to do something to the head, I have only see the model assembled so I do not know if she had nobs for where the horns are suppose to go. Also did you have to do anything on the back for the stuff most warcasters have there, the pipes and what not. That all said I really do like what you managed to do for this piece.

    Re: Grisnik's Dark Elfs

You absolutely right there.. right arm and leg have been replaced, left hand at the wrist has been replaced. For the face/head, there were 2 indents for the horns, but I filled them in with Liquid Green Stuff, and then smoothed it over into the hair. Can barely see it now, unless you know what to look for. As for the back, you can see that nothing was done to it from the pictures on the blog post ( link below the photo ). It was left as is.

Also, just to note, that I did not do the conversion itself. The client did. All I can take credit for is the filling in of gaps that existed afterwards. 1 being the head, and 2 being the massive gap on the inside of the right leg. Again filled with Liquid Green Stuff. Not because it was great for it, cause it wasn't, but more cause I wanted to see if it could, which it can't.

I too really like how it came out in the end. And because it is a warmachine model, it paints up so nicely. Especially the cat like face
