Green as grass: A goblin log

    Hello!

I've bought almost 2 years ago the skull's pass box, and over time I bought a lot of other models and boxes, but I wasn't very good at finishing painting.
As a new years resolution I want to become a better painter and I also want to have occasional a finished unit on my table.

So all comments and critiques are welcome.

Some of my finished models, in chronological order:

First five models I painted, ever. They look like it. I was happy with them 2 years ago.

    A pair of spider riders

A fanatic, and a WIP of a shaman.

    And the finished shaman.

I have a lot more unfinished minis with different amounts of paint on them, but this is all I have finished at the moment.

I really love the blend of colours on the shaman. Nice work.

Looks good. The butterfly on the fanatic is an interesting addition.

So, the minis I am working on at the moment:

    Three Nasty Skulkers.

And a night goblin standard bearer. Not sure how to go further with this model. I am happy with the pole, but the flag is giving me problems. Any advise?

    Hes looking really good!
I've made a banner of my own once. I used a piece of an old shirt, cotton. I cut the piece out the size that I wanted + a little more in the top*, and then covered it (not soaked, but almost) in Pva glue.
*I left the extra ~1 cm not covered in glue, so I could hang it some where to dry.

Then I just cut the top of the banner, just like you've done, so I could fold it around a standard.

When the glue has dried, its good to paint on.

I guess, if you want some kind of wind in the banner, you can try to form it a bit, in the drying process.

I have a pic of the banner to support it, if you'd like to see it some day.

    Hope it made sense

Oooh, BfSP gobboes and trolls and bits !

Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling of nostalgia, I too painted lots of those gobboes ...

I'm sorry that I can't give you advice on your BSB tough, mine is a really simple swap job on the old Skarsnik model, top of the staff cut off and a plastic banner from the Night Goblins regiment box glued in it's place

All in all, good paint jobs on your greenies, I'll follow this plog closely !

Seems to me your painting is advancing nicely, and for sure your goblins really give me the messed up and funny feeling (that is a good thing imo), so all i can add, keep up the good work.

You make sense. Lets see if I can find a piece of old fabric around here to try. Is the grain of the fabric visible? Or is it sealed by the glue?

You need to start somewhere, and a starter box seemed the right place.

Thank you, that is the feeling I'm after.

So, tonight I worked on this. I think it is ready for varnish, and then the pool at the back can be filled with water effects, and maybe some reeds. Here can the flying goblin with its transparent base stand when it isn't used. that goblin is connected to the stern of the base with a magnet, so that can be removed when transported.

The idea is that night goblins dwell in caves, and see less sun, so they are deep but bright green, in colours, whether normal goblins are full time in the sun, and have an olive skin. Snotlings are smaller, and are quickly replaced, so their skin stays almost fluorescent green.

Re: Green as grass: A goblin log

Since this new years resolution thing I painted a lot, but finished nothing. To change this, I set the goal to paint a figure in 2 evenings. It is a savage orc shaman that I got in a marktplaats deal that was supposed to be 3 goblins, but ended in a savage orc shaman, a black orc and a goblin shaman.
I tried some object source light with the eyes of the scull.

Hmmm, I have trouble seeing the object source lightning on the skulls, could you maybe take a closer picture ?

But the overall painting of the Shaman is really good, special mention for the pelt on his back !

Your middle sneaky git reminds me of batman... Fantastic! You should get another and paint him in robin colors.... Except then he wouldn't be so sneaky... Great painting!

Thank you. That model will be on my table tonight, to try to finish the banner as I want it.

The OSL is the primary coloured area's. Maybe OSL isn't the right name, just trying to get red, blue and yellow glowing eyes. My camera don't want to go any closer, but I could post some bigger pictures. Tumbnails:

Batman? Now that would give some possibilities... It was meant to be the phantom of the opera, the unpainted one zorro. That was what the models screamed to me the moment they appeared on the GW website.

I made these for christmas (or in the santa's case, spent a few evenings to get the skin matching to the two new ones with the new glazes...)

Oh... didn't notice your reply back then (1 year ago) Better late than never , I guess Yes I think the grain of the fabric is visible. I dno if it's visible on the pics in my Dwarf plog , but you can check it out of you want.
    Great updates.
    Keep it up
