    Choppas

Do Orcs with Great Weapons and Orcs with 2 Weapons still benefit from the Choppa rule?

No to both. Only orcs on foot armed with a single choppa or a choppa and a shield benefits from the rule...

    Re: Choppas

Actually, orcs with great weapons would be able to utilise the choppa rule if they would not use their great weapons for a particular combat.

    Re: Choppas

    Hi

Even Orcs with two choppas can benefit from the choppa rule, if they choose to use only one in the close combat.

Maybe the increased S is worth the halved attacks??? Nah, better try to hit twice as often!

    Re: Choppas

They use the +1 S on charge rule when using a shield. But, as the Choppa is not a 'proper' hand weapon, they do not gain the +1 armor save in the same way as hand weapon and shield. It is at the begining of the O&G book, and your friend owes you a pizza I bet.

    Re: Choppas

Just to summarise, Orcs gain the benefit of choppa rule (+1 S on charge) on the following situations:

-on foot and using choppa in close combat
-on foot and using choppa and shield in close combat

They do not gain it in the following cases:

    -mounted
    -equipped with magic weapon
-on foot and using spear in close combat
-on foot and using great weapon in close combat

Unit armed with a spear or great weapon can however opt to use a choppa instead on a given combat.

    You forget to add...

They do not gain it in the following cases:

    - Fighting with two choppas simultaneously

    Re: Choppas

I always played as no to both, but recently it came up and someone else told me they ought to be able to. This was just after a year's vacation from Fantasy so I wasn't for certain on any Fantasy rule at the time.

    Re: Choppas

Yeah, it's only for 1 choppa. Shame as the plastic Orc boys (the ones in one pose) have two choppas. I suppose fluffily it's hard to use the power of a choppa if you're holding two .

One quick question I've just thought of - if an orc unit is equipped with two hand weapons, can you opt to only use one hand weapon & therefore get the +1s choppa rule?

Why am I wondering - I collect Night Goblins, not orcs....

    Re: Choppas

As far as I know, you can always opt to just use a single choppa and get the +1S. It's just the same as a normal weapon switch, after all. Units with 2 hand weapons and shields can also opt to switch can they?

On the main rules, I wouldn't mind if choppas would work if used together, or still gave the hw/shield bonus. Orcs could use a little improvement. (comming from a non-orc player btw)

Yes to both - orc with two choppas can opt to use just one of them (though that is not very orcy way to go). And an orc with two choppas and shield can opt to use both choppas, choppa and shield or just choppa without shield (no point in the last option, though).
