So she's designing a Jump to conclusions mat for them?

    Sorry.

On a more serious note, she said she got a job as book designer (which sounds pretty awesome to me), so probably not.

That would be great but I'm a bit septic. Maybe we'll get it with a "limited" release like space hulk?

I used to want Warhammer Quest back, too.

Then I found Super Dungeon Explore.

Now I no longer need to feed the GW monster.

Hell, if you don't like the chibi anime style there are plenty of dungeon crawl games out there. I hear good things about Descent.

I'd rather see a Bloodbowl release, but watching GW trends lately it would cost $150 USD, have each team represented by a single model, and have nothing to do with the proud worship of Nuffle.

Do you have a link, explaining what you're talking about?

Is/are Tears of Envy a single person, or a company? Where did you read this news, and can you provide a link?

edit; found her website. Nothing there about joining GW, although she does mention having worked with them in the past. In any case, there's plenty of things GW could do with a graphic designer. If you look at her portfolio, you'll see that. Assuming that just because she designed some dungeon floor tiles for one client, she'll necessarily do the same thing for a different one is ... a bit of a stretch, at best.

It says pretty clearly in her blog that she's moving to the Book dept. Not sure how you got WHQ out of that?

EDIT: Oh, I see - she specialises in boardgames. Still a bit of a leap though.

Descent is good, but the rules for keeping your heroes between games aren't there. There is surely some house rules for this but the adventures aren't designed for this so it requires a lot of tweaking.

Actually there's a couple of expansions that turn it into a campaign. The problem with the campaign is that it's competitive, like the individual dungeons, so it can rapidly result in some one sided scenarios.

Descent is not open-ended the way WHQ is either.

My group has played Descent several times and a round of WHQ always goes faster, has less fiddly crap to track, and seems to provoke more outrageous jokes.

Re: Tears of Envy joining GW = Warhammer Quest

The biggest advantage WHQ has always held over lesser dungeon crawlers is that you do not need a GM to play it. Everybody can play a hero, and nobody is lumbered with having less fun by playing the monsters. You can even play it solo if you want to (but that gets boring pretty fast).

I have Descent, and enjoy playing it from time to time. But, it speaks volumes that my non gaming partner can sometimes be persuaded to play WHQ, but has never played Descent with me.

A question mark in the title would help a lot mate, considereng you're just guessing (poorly, considering she said she's leaving to be a book designer with them).

At least she found it amusing:

This is a bit of a leap. That is just one thing Tears has done. It is not the only thing. Neither is it the best thing.

Looking forward to what she brings to the party.

Whatever it means, colour me intrigued.
Yeah, we flew our space church across 500 light years to get to this planet taken over by the orks. Now we're going to drop from orbit in buckets and run out and shoot pistols and hit people in the head with chainsaws. Ultramarines!

Awesome, I had a chat with Tammy once, and she's brilliantly talented and also a really cool person.

Hopefully she'll get to work with John Blanche on a lot of things and produce some great illustrations.
