And i stepped into the graveyard and got stuck (VC blog)

A little while ago me and my girlfriend both decided to do a warhammer fantasy army, she went for daemons, so i figured Vampire Counts might be a nice match to play against.

Since i paint a lot more and quicker than she does i also started an Ogre army, that blog should be hanging around somewhere in this part of the forum as well.

    I made a 500 point list containing:

    2x Necromancer
15x Skelleton warrior, with Full Command
    5x Black Knight
    and a Corpsecart.

    Here are some pictures:

I have to summon somethings sometimes, so 5 zombies are done atm:

The Skelletons, shields are on the paintstation atm:

    And the corpsecart:

Very nice! I like in particular the audacious choice of colours and the nice blending on the skeleton's clothes and the banner.

Incredibly well painted VC! In particular I'm amazed at the amount of time you probably spent on the lowly Zombies, they look better than that kit possibly should be able to. I think that the Corpse Cart base needs something more added to it though, looks very empty at the moment.

Really nice stuff. Necromancer looks like it'll be great. Loving the grey robes.
Was toying with starting Vampire Counts as an army but talked myself out of it. Plogs like this aren't helping my resolve

Some of the best looking corpses I've seen in a long time. Very good work.

May I ask how you did the bones on the skeletons?

That is going to be one awesome army! Very nice colouring, very vibrant but not in a way that it detracts from the fact that they are Undead.

Beautiful painting. I particularly like your bone and agree with Crube - could you give us the recipe please?

If I may suggest something, your reds are very orange. This may be your preference, but I think your colours would benefit with a little more mid-tone red, particularly on the standard, where the blend from dark red to orange is very abrupt. Just a thought, feel free to disregard.

In any case great job so far, I look forward to seeing how your army develops.

Thanks for all the nice comments people.

@ BeattheBeat: Fixing up bases is something i hate, in the end it will be done, but usually its like a finishing touch for an army for me, but i will at least create some grass or whatever on there.

@ Huitzilopochtli: The final red colour i used is Blood Red, i think it has something to do with the light i have been using, irl i can asure you its red, not orange

@ all who asked for the bone colour, The bone really is simple to achieve, i layered/blended up Scorched Brown till Bleached Bone, only other colour i used was Graveyard Earth.
When i had put on the final layer of pure Bleached Bone i glazed the mini's with thinned down Devlan Mud and Gryphone Sepia. (i hope that gives the general idea of what i did to them).

Great work Wizzard! Lovely paint jobs, though I did notice the zombie pulling himself out of the ground is remarkably clean

Out of interest why 500pts, is the force just for small games or are you planning on expanding it? I must admit I do like the sound of the small force, tis almost enough to get me playing Warhammer...

Again thnx for all the nice words.

The army will expand after this is all done, its mainly for my girlfriend, she just started, and starting with a smaller army both encourages painting (not looking at huge numbers of unpainted models) and the learning how to play warhammer is (in my opinion) better to start with smaller games and build the army on needs/likes, then just go and rush in 2400 points.

Other advantage to me is, i get to build 2 armies side by side, so i can entertain myself with a higher variety of models.
