Your bagpiper is excellent. However, I feel he would also benefit from having some details added to the front.

My project log: To Infinity and Beyond
@Grain Weevil: Cool I'll see if I can get my hands on Giantslayer then.
@juicytomatoes: Thanks, I'm quite pleased with it.
@Lorcryst: Thank you, lets hope you still think that once I've painted him.
@Duke Donald@ Thanks for the feedback, it makes me raise my game. I've started work on a sporran to see how it looks, I'll have pictures in the next few days, hopefully it will fill the empty space on the front.
I've started work on a standard bearer. Hopefully I'll have get greenstuffing done on him soon and I'll have photos up tomorrow or the day after.

That bagpiper is great! I have made an undead zombie piper myself. Thought about making an orc one. Use him as a army standard bearer. The story would be a travling orc piper. Curious about my savages would settle with them as they like the sound of the pipes!
My paint blog............http://battlereadyminiatures.blogspot.com/
@Loki73: That sounds like a cool idea. When you've made him you'll have to put him on your log and I'll subscribe so that I don't miss it.
Okay so the standard bearer that I said I'd have done is still in progress but I have been working on my first troll and hopefully they'll both be ready to show soon. For now I have the results of my filling of the space on the front of my scottish savage orc. I came up with two options, a sporran and a kilt pin style thing.
Here's what they look like:
Which do you think is better? Or if you have a third option I'm open to suggestions.
3rd option, do a mixture. They both look excellent.
aye....I'd second that proposal...both look great
both do look great. Btw did you do some more highlights to the skin? It seems to look better than in the 1st picture.
Yay! I'm loving the piperI like your two designs for the front of the guys kilt, but reckon that the sporran looks a little civilised for an orc. It also looks like it would be difficult to fit one in on the piper, cos the plaid's in the way.
I third the motion to do a mix of Sporrans and Icons ... both look great (awesome greenstuffing skills), and a bit of variety in Orc units is always good !
But like Nosy said, maybe nothing on the bagpiper, he's busy enough carrying those pipes, if you know what I mean![]()
The paint job you did on the teeth is AMAZING!!!!!!!
Both options look good, but I would personally prefer the sporran or a mixture of both. I don't feel it looks overly civilised. After all, it's a pouch with some undescript hair dangling from it.

@Bunkka-Pop: I did add extra highlights to the skin taking it up to Scorpion Green. I'm glad you noticed.
@Pluch87: Thank you. I'm quite pleased with how they turned out but it is just Gryphon Sepia over bleached bone so I feel that I have cheated a bit.
@All others: Okay I'll go for a mix of both and decide which is best for each model. Thanks for your advice.
Today has been fairly productive so I have some more stuff to show you, but first I'm going to link to this http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...ster-A-VC-plog. It is Poisoned Edge's log featuring the army that he is building to team up with mine at a doubles tournament, although instead of the originally billed Orcs and Goblins he has swapped to Vampire Counts.
Now back to some Scottish Savage Orcs. Here is the standard bearer that I've been putting together:
I've put a celtic knot pattern on the stone at the top of the standard that will hopefully stand out better once it is painted.
And here is a Scottish troll:
I've always wanted some of these old stone trolls. There is just something about them that I have always liked. There are going to be a few more celtic trolls in this unit, two of which are on my table waiting for kilts and plaids and the others are sitting in other people's houses waiting for me to win them on ebay.
As usual any and all comments and criticisms are welcome.
Lovely Troll ! The colours work really well on him !
Nice standard bearer too, but the celtic knot pattern is a bit lost with the GS pic ... I'm sure it'll show up better with a lick of paint![]()
This is sweet dude!! Love the Green Stuffing. Keep up the good work
Brad-Bin
@Lorcryst: Thank you. I like the colours on the troll. It reminds me of the illustrations of the Nac MacFeegle from Discworld.
@Brad-Bin: Thanks. I'll try my best.
So in the last week I have put kilts and plaids on another seven savage orcs and two trolls and started painting it all. I also started sculpting a savage orc warboss. I have made some mostly scratchbuilt models before but this is the first miniature that I am going to make completely from scratch, just greenstuff shaped over a frame of twisted paper clips. At the moment he is still a work in progress, everything needs neatening up, his feet and legs need a lot of work and I've yet to start his hands. He is larger than other orcs, being about as tall at the shoulder as an ogre, but then orc leaders are meant to be bigger.
Anyway, enough talking here's some pictures:

I think it is going okay so far but I'm really not looking forward to doing his hands and feet.
Any comments and criticisms are welcome.
Very nice way to paint the orcs. Can't wait to see more!

Even I have a Blog nowadays...
Haha nice. I did this army about 5 years ago, never finished painting it. Good to see some actually done. I did the whole thing, bonnets, kilts and bagpipe musicians. The models I finished painting looked nice heheh. I have ADD when it comes to armies though.
Does anyone else find the T-Mobile 4G wonderland advertisement disturbing?
That is insane dude!! Keep it up
Brad-Bin
@Braad: Thank you.
@Col. Dash: Well you know great minds and all that.
@Brad-Bin: Thanks I will try to maintain the levels of insanity.
The warboss is still in progress, I've spent a long time trying to get his feet right, but I have managed to paint some more celtic savage orcs:
The bases are going to get some flock on them but I'm going to do that after I've varnished them, but that's going to have to wait until I have some more varnish.
Comments and criticism welcome.

These are looking great, full of character. I like how the choice of army fits the theme really well.![]()
