I have a strong feeling it will be DA vs. Necrons. Necrons are a recently updated army, which means the sculptors could have worked with 6th Box Set models at the same time. Also, in the past, the box xenos have been recently updated. They are also easy to grasp for kids as cool evil skeleton robots. DE would be the other possible army, but the Necrons have been traditionally referred as a "starter friendly army", so my money is on them.
Well, we have very strong and reliable rumors saying DA vs Chaos marines with cultists. IIRC it was Hastings that provided this and he said he had seen the models and that it was not so much a rumor as facts. Person providing the rumor can be recalled wrong, but I recall strongly that the person had seen the models and was strong on the point that for him it was facts now and not rumor.

It was Hastings who said that. Harry had been saying differently but immediately supported Hastings, he has that much faith in his rumours![]()
Thanks The Dude, couldn't recall with enough certainty on my own early in the morning =)

We're approaching 3 months out and no rumours of any substance regarding game play assuming the "leaked" ruleset was a spoof.
You have to hand it to GW's rumour control, I suspect Darnok's little birds will start singing towards the end of May but aside from that it's looking like lockdown.
My Plog;
Currently: Dark Eldar approaching 1800points now
Also 2500+ pts Salamanders now completed (pages 2 and 3 of PLOG), Ork army needs finishing approaching 2000points & XXX pts Guard on hold at moment.
6th Ed Win loss record: W/D/L 2/1/3
I agree, the amount of disinformation is pretty impressive. My people usually all agree on several rumors, now they each seem to have their own. I'm still hoping for something to shake the game up enough to make the ruleset interesting.
well i was chatting to my local manager and he said the spine of White Dwarf was connected to 6th ed somehow but although he doesnt know the content or any release etc his feeling is that we'll see the main 6th ed rulebook around June and the box in september but he thinks the box will be Marines v Chaos Cultists and be rather marine biased similar to the Island of Blood box which was rather disbalanced towards the elves....but he also said that the Necron Codex would be a fair guide of what to expect in the coming 6th edition as it aludes to rules etc that dont yet exist mainstream.....so I dont think we're going to see anything at all from 40k between now and 6th edition other than 2nd wave releases, Dark Angels v Cultists could be really cool though looking forward to seeing that one
Starter news I have heard from several places now:
DA:
Terminator Captain
5 Deathwing
Tac Squad
Ravenwing bikes (3 likely)
Chaos:
Sorcerer
Chosen
CSM squad?
Cultists
Posessed?
Dreadnought?
Dreadnought seems likely, as it adds vehicle rules. CSM squad may be referring to the chosen, or may not. Posessed will have to see, but they would add a daemonic aspect to the force.

Oh? I was under the impression a Dread would be in there, but seeing as that would result in the same vehicle featuring twice a row, I'll believe it.Posessed
I'm almost 30 and this new stater makes me feel like Cartman waiting for the Wii. "Comeon, comeooon!"
It's nice feeling like a kid again.
I asked tDG about cultists, but got no response. Many have now said they are in the starter, so I assume they will have rules in the codex. I had a dream the other night though, that they came in at 6 pts a model, and really sucked rule-wise! Lets hope I'm not a psychic.

My scratch-built Stompa, Traitor Guards, Cthulhu daemons and Word Bearers and my my terrain log.
"It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror. Horror has a face... and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies."
- Colonel Walter E. Kurtz
Interesting. It seems like time itself will slowly force me to have the entire Deathwing. My friend and I are already planning on purchasing two sets of this, and switching the parts in it. I think he is going to get the better deal. sounds like he is going to get about:
Cultists (10)
Possessed (5)
Chosen (5)
Sorcerer (1)
I thought they may put obliterators in there, but I guess they will be later... and perhaps a multi unit set.
Dark Angels Get:
Space Marines (10)
Terminators (5)... perhaps mixed weapon? I can only hope they are as good as the Blood Angel guys.
Bikes (3)
Terminator Captain (Belial?)
Anyone know the terrain theme? Or if the Chaos stuff is for any specific legion... i.e. sculpted parts?
So we get the hard back book in July (2 1/2 months out). Then we can play with the rules until September when we get these models and a Chaos Codex the next month. The lists look fairly balanced against each other, especially if there are some storm shields in there... or as I hope against hope, some seriously mixed equipment of relic blades and storm shields (a man can dream). Still, a assault cannon in a mixed thunder hammer squad with Belial wouldn't be to bad at all. The rules for them will be in the box anyway, so they will probably already be updated to whatever the DA are going to get.
Thanks rumor mongers. Your work is appreciated and not forgotten.

10!!! cultists? The 'cannon-fodder' troops number 10? If this is true i'll be very disappointed. I was hoping for more like 20-30. 10 is such a small number for those kinds of troop. They should be swarming over the marines

How does it stay in the air? Oh, it's powered by pure handwavium
Quick, let me take my (Mat) Ward save!
Reckon it will end up being 20 Cultists, 5 Chosen 1 Dreadnought and the Sorcerer even then Chaos will end up being the pts light force.
Sorry no GW I will not pay twice the $$$ to buy from retail stores in Australia and no amount of adds to the hobby, support you FLGS bulldung is going to change the fact your charging twice as much.
Yeah, the would give us the 'exact' same size as AoBR, only switching sides for the Dread and the Koptas/Bikes.
The French Touch:
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...30#post6586530
Or 15 cultists, 5 Chosen, 5 Posessed to get that mix of mortal, Legion, and daemonic.
I'm still expecting a Chaos dread in the starter for two reasons- give Chaos a quick dreadnought for veterans before the multi-part comes out. Second, so there is a vehicle in the starter to teach vehicle rules. Sorcerer is cool to teach psychic rules and for a more unique leader, but they really do need something for vehicles, which are a big part of the game.

I agree... unless they've figured out how to do a snap-fit Rhino. And they weren't that far off with that one plastic terrain piece.
