Thread: Codex: Chaos Legions rumours

    Re: Codex: Chaos Legions rumours

Honestly guys, with no other rumors being produced from any other sources, and the rise that Dark Angels may be coming out in May or June, I think we can safely settle in and wait for after 6th edition for our Codex.

If Chaos comes out in May, I'll be pleasantly surprised, but somehow I doubt it's going to happen. After all, the last Codex was Necron, and following the pattern, the Codex in May/June must be an astartes; Dark Angels.

I don't think we can safely say anything, Harry has said that chaos is coming soon, and he's very accurate. I haven't seen a highly accurate rumour monger say DA are coming soon either.

I do I agree with you in that I think that DA are next, it has been PA,Non-PA,PA for a long time now, but I'm not sure by any stretch, plus GW might consider Chaos as PA for this purpose, they did with GKs.

Did you know I have a blog? Neither did I, but apparently it's here! I review codices, write unbalanced, childish homebrewed rules, and post articles of my painting, conversions, and writing.

Harry never said May. He said First 6th edition dex, either just before or just after the release of 6th.

Personally, I think it'll be just after.

Hopefully after... the first codexes tend to be Try-outs and when mid-current edition- hits they are outclassed by the newer ones.

What time in the month do the "real" rumours hit, around 25ish? Then we'll see if it'll be a may release.

You're right on that, they don't. While it could be viewed as a general pattern, it's by no means strictly followed, and I wouldn't use it to "predict" what's coming next or rule anything out. In fact several months last year saw a mix of both 40K and Fantasy, so it's not inconceivable that there could be a bit of both.

When did GW release something? Was it plastic or metal? Who sculpted it? Come find out:Fantasy, 40K, LOTR, BFG, Blood Bowl, Epic, Inquisitor, Man O' War, Mordheim, Necromunda & Warmaster

I don't think they follow a strict Fantasy-40k-Fantasy schedule, especially not if they have a major release like 6th, they may want to break from the patterns to fit in with major releases better.
I checked the Fantasy rumors to see what their schedule looks like. From what I saw, Hastings was predicting Warriors of Chaos for Q4, "after Empire and some random model releases." As Empire just came out, it looks like most of the year would be clear for 40K.

If there is a codex in May and a codex in Sep-Nov, there will be little difference, as the design paradigm wouldn't have changed that much, as the design calendars are just far too close together. The 5th transition is a horrible thing to judge by as there was a HUGE shake up in codex design during that period.

IF 6th comes this summer, it may even be that we won't see another codex till next year due to the general changes that will have to be addressed before it launches, or did we forget how long it took Greenskins to hit after Fantasy 8th?

If Chaos Legions comes post-6th, that would make for a rather chaotic end of the year, many skulls will be collected in His name.

And then the world will come to an end

Which, oddly enough would be appropriate :P

I would be 'back loading' the year with chaos, not sure how that would work without getting customers burnt out on chaos, both fantasy and 40k; plus they have to shoe horn the Hobbit releases in there some where as well

By the way, love the user name (Battletech for the win . . . )

Hobbit is Christmas, right? So I'd imagine a December release with that. 6th in July, Splash terrain/finecast/fliers in August, 6th ed Boxset in September, Legions in October, Warriors in November, Hobbit in December?

I've been using this moniker for 13 years. My son, Daniel Blake, is 7 and a half Shh, don't tell his mother where it came from, she only knows about the William Blake association (which came about 10 years ago). tehehe

There are never December releases. They count on Christmas for boosted sales. Hobbit will be November.

My money is on a Januari release.

They are not allowed to release anything sooner then the movie.

The movie is a Christmas/December release if i'm not mistaken. And since GW doesn't do big December releases, januari will be for the hobbit.

Makes perfect sence as well, at least in my mind it does.

November for Hobbit, as preview for the movie, and because December is bundles and scenery, with a few other kits sometimes thrown in.

All of the LotR games were released before the movies. As Wes says, November is almost certain for The Hobbit.

That said, we are getting off topic here. Can we please stick to Chaos?

Well...in the new Legion of the Damned novel it goes into some great detail about the difference in World Eaters & Chaos Space Marine Khorne worshippers. There's a tech priest, dread claw drop pods, thunder hawks, etc...perhaps the new Codex will help expand upon this, in all Legions?

What IF chain axes could re-roll to wound?

Would sound like a good weapon. Rending, re-roll to wound or just +1 Strenght all of it sounds good.
If I had to pick one of these, re-roll seems like the best alternative, if not probably rending, cause more damage to heavy armored vehicles and hurt monsterous creatures a little more.

    Re: Codex: Chaos Legions rumours

Thematically, a re-roll to wound is better. Blood and Skulls and all that. Vehicle killing in close combat should remain the domain of Power Fists.

If they bring cultists back for alpha legion, ill be happy!!!!!
    Hey to the dude.
Hope all is cool in your area.
Any ideas on what the new characters for nightlords, and the word bearers, and alpha legion will be....
I know its hoping for to much if they bring daemon primarchs back in, especially since Angron is the only one they have out.......

Re-rolls to wound makes sense. They're supposed to be big and heavy, so I'd be happy to see it represented. I imaging Kharn's Gorechild could then also become a power weapon with the Khornate Chain Axe/Weapon rule, since it's essentially just a big, fancy chainaxe.

I actually wouldn't mind too much if Kharn's strength was thus dropped to 4 again, if that was the case.
