Thread: Codex: Chaos Legions rumours

    Re: Codex: Chaos Legions rumours

New Bikers? They aren't that old and are perfectly serviceable. Unless they are determined to chuck them onto a 3-per-box sprue, I don't see the point
I think it makes perfect sense - for such an important release, simply having 'serviceable' models won't satisfy GW. More and more, this sounds like it could be a revamp on the scale of the Dark Eldar rather than just adding a few bits and turning old metal kits into plastic/resin.

With so many other things that need plastic kits such as Raptors, cult troops, Dreadnaughts, Hovocs and that doesn't include the inevitable new units.

True, but we've already got confirmation on the Raptors and Dread.

    We have? From whom?

Edit: Appartently hastings, but only a dread for the starter set, no confirmation otherwise I can find.

Already having "confirmation" of two things only lessens the number of free kits for stuff that needs a kit. Marines could use a recut bike kit as much as Chaos, but instead they make new units.

To be fair, he did change his tune a bit later, saying that it was an idea bandied about early on in development but had since been changed to a single Legions codex.

Does that make it more or less reliable? That's up to you. I don't know theDarkGeneral personally, but he's been a regular on another forum I frequent (Throne of Skulls) and he's well-known there. While he's pretty new (from what I've seen) to the rumourmill, I see no reason why he'd be lying.

Whether his source is reliable or not is another matter.

Raptors are in finecast, so i would call them "serviceable" too.

The funny thing is that I remember reading a post from Hastings saying that there'd be new plastic raptors and a new plastic Dread. I cannot for the life of me find it though.

I could see it happening. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing the fine-cast versions but the metal ones were very top heavy and fell over a lot. Mine were only ever stable on flat surfaces. So I've sold them all. I would think that while the fine-cast raptors are much lighter they would still have the same problem. If so then I could see that being a reason to do them as plastics.

    Time will tell.

Any chance you are able to elaborate on the "screams death and carnage" or can bounce any of the rumors off of the PDF?

And if you don't want to sacrifice this individual to the Dark Gods, let me know where they live. I'll take care of it.

Yeah let's give an army bicycles instead of bikes or jetbikes, all in the name of diversity.. Back on topic I am in agreement with Erazmus_M_Wattle on the issue of plastic raptors. I remember reading a post from Harry I think, but for the life of me I can't seem to find it any longer. I really hope they are made in plastic however. Don't fancy driving back and forth to GW to replace miscasts. As far as troops are concerned I am quite happy with the FW conversion kits. If only they release similar ones for slaanesh and tzeentch I can't ask for anything more.

To be fair, the bikes for both sides are fairly old. It wouldn't surprise me if they redid both kits with CSM being first. The SM kit for the specialist weapons is hybrid and that is often a top requirement for being redone.

Bikes, Raptors, Dreads would be 3 of the kits, with rumours also suggesting a cult plastic sprue... I would like that a lot for my four plastics.

    Re: Codex: Chaos Legions rumours

Having played against the current plastic bikes a fair few times, I must say I don't like the style much - its OK the tanks looking like world war 2 tanks somehow, but the bikes just don't pull it off. They just look like boring old motorbikes that seem totally out of place. I remember the old epic scale bikes, although obviously lacking in much detail because they were Epic scale, had a much nicer "Sci-fi" body shape.

(note: I just checked the GW site. Current Epic Armageddon bikes don't look like this so I can't get a picture;- you'll have to look back 16 years or so...)

Not sure if this qualifies as news but I've just been in to my local shop to be told that the thousand sons I ordered aren't available as they are going to be finecast, don't know if that means the whole kit or just the metal parts.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned.

Was that an official reason or a bit of "deductive reasoning" on the part of staff?

This could potentially mark the first Finecast-plastic hybrid kit, if correct.

The Hive Tyrant, while available, was a hybrid kit.
