If the Chaos Terminator lord came out today, they probably would have thrown Abbadon in there. But they didn't. And none of the rumored kits for Chaos fit with the idea of adding a SC option, unless they make a Dreadnought Character for Chaos.

I don't normally post in this forum, as I always seem to be off topic whenever I do post here, But I remember many threads being closed over the years for just asking a question and those people being told to ask their question in an existing thread. So lets see if, just this once I can be on topic.
I wan't to start a Chaos Marine army with a Slaanesh theme and want to do 4 basic Marine squads with 2 special weapons and an upgraded AspChamp each and a 10 man Noise Marine squad with an AspChamp with some upgrades and everyone else with Sonic Blasters.
My question is, do you think I will be safe getting these to paint up now or should I wait for the new codex?
I don't want to have to redo them, if for example, they can only have one special weapon in the new codex. I suppose I could just buy an extra box to paint up as a Havoc Squad with 4 Heavy bolters, just incase I need them for my TROOP squads and maybe do a couple Blastmaster guys too, just because.![]()

I would say you're safe with the Basic Marines. As you said, you can always move them around if they don't fit the original configuration.
The Noise Marines, I'd probably wait a bit longer on.
Well if there is a bigger focus on cults in this book, they may see significant changes. I don't know for sure, but I just see standard CSM as being less likely to see significant changes that would affect what you're suggesting.
As always, if you like the models, don't let the rules dictate what you buy and paint![]()
Cool! Thanks again for the speedy reply. I might just wait for the Noise Marines and see what GW release, although I may just pick up a couple sets of the metal Sonic Weapons to keep by anyway, as I missed out on the last set of Noise Marines and now they are seriously expensive on Ebay.![]()
I've got a Tournament coming up on Saturday and I can tell you now that if by some miracle I win it, all of the prize support is going towards decking my Chaos out the way I want it to be. I like the models I have now but I don't have the flexibility to do it the way I want. Then again I did have the notion of just getting about 4 or 5 squads of Berzerkers and some Predators and making a pure World Eaters army. So tempting....
I suggest you wait for the actual release on Noise Marines before buying any metal Sonic Weapons. We don't know anything yet regarding either they get a new plastic or not, plus not knowing the options within each unit. Assuming they do, the probability of plastics containing all options would be considerably high, My bet is each box (all 4 cults + the basic marine) would end up looking similar to GK marines/ Death Company ones just to cover all the options which has been listed on the rumour-roundup at the first page of this thread.
I recommend you to spend that money on those boxes instead.
It is a bit of a gamble though. They are unlikely to re-do the fine cast plague marines, the berzerkers are starting to show their age a wee bit but still look fine enough to use.
So there's always the risk they'll just release the sonic weapons as fine cast upgrade sprues or as a fine cast kit of what we already have which will be more expensive than if you buy a few metal ones now.
Hopefully Chaos get the attention they deserve.
I'm affraid that might be the case. But on the other hand they did redo the Hive Tyrant, so people can play the winged version. If they consider to expand units within each Legion then redoing Finecast into plastic wouldn't be too odd, just to enable all players to equip their models with various options.

I would include the lord in the "fun stuff" though and wait a bit to assemble him...
There is no telling what will be in the codex as equip-able or effective for him to wear as a Emperor's Children lord. With new edition rules coming out as well, current unorthodox equips might very well be awesome on him...
I want all Chaos players to know, that they should go ahead and buy whatever models from the current line they want, as none of it will become "obsolete", and the prices will be going up in June.

Thanks for the price increase info, TDG, I had no idea. Any idea what sort of hurt is going to be put on us?
Local gaming store was told that it could be around 20%, and across the board! Though I hope/doubt it won't be everything, I can see GW once again hammering us (here in the US at least) once again.
*edited: Sorry for the off topic posts The Dude!
Daemonic Possession will be the way to go with the new Codex and new Edition of rules!![]()

Yeah but the old metal Immortal models didn't really become "obsolete" still not sure I would have been happy if I went out an bought a bunch only to see them redone in plastic or are you saying that none of the existing units that have metal models will be getting redone in plastic?
Sorry no GW I will not pay twice the $$$ to buy from retail stores in Australia and no amount of adds to the hobby, support you FLGS bulldung is going to change the fact your charging twice as much.
I'm fairly certain TFG is referring to the rules. I could be wrong.
