Upcoming BB tournament for first timer!

Well, as the title says, my local gameing club is organising a Bloodbowl league and I thought it would be fun to participate.
Thing is I have never ever played the popular fantasy football game before... :-/

Luckily I'm a big 40k Orks collector and player so I had "some" models lying around and I had already made myself a team last year wich comes in handy now!!!
It cosists of the following models:

    -1 thrower/ -4 blitzers/ -4 black orcs/ -4 linemen/ -1 troll

I will try to make a good team using these models at hand, the league starts in februari so not much time to make a lot of additional models.
I read through some BB forums about team variations and concluded they are a plenty but with my lack of experience it's hard to judge the good, the bad and the worse!

So this is what I've got for now:

    1 thrower
    4 Black orcs
    3 Blitzers
    2 linemen
    1 Goblin
    3 re-rolls
    5 FF

This would mean making one goblin wich I can handle. We are playing ruleset 5 and that is as far as my BB intelligence reaches!
I thought about swapping the Black Orc and Blitzer amounts, or cutting the gobbo for another lineman and FF 4.

My main reason for playing is to have fun and learn the game! If I can win an occasional match, fine...but if I can have multiple amusing evenings playing BB without winning that's fine too! There will be some experienced players in the league so Championship is not an option! ;-)

    Any thoughts, suggestions or comments?

Sorry for the double-thread, I thought I had done something wrong
    and tried again...

Thank you for the help Mod, I'll take better care next time.

I would ditch the Fan Factor. Living Rulebook 5 doesn't place that much emphasis on having a high FF and so you really aren't spending your pennies the best you can.

    I would consider the following:

    2 Throwers
    4 Black Orcs
    4 Blitzers
    1 Goblin
    3 Re-Rolls

This allows you to max out on the positional players straight from the start of the league. Although you have no FF, all you are really missing out on is the chance at +10/20k from winnings or a chance at a free re-roll on the kick-off chart, if you won the roll for FAME. Although you have no lineman, you do have two throwers and the only negative difference between them is a point of AV, and for that you get two players with Sure Hands and Pass, as having 1 thrower on your team could be a gamble should he get hurt.

    or

    1 Thrower
    4 Black Orcs
    4 Blitzers
    1 Lineman
    1 Goblin
    3 Re-Rolls
20k in the bank (for an Apothecary)

Same as above regarding FF, but you give yourself a player from the start to stand in front of an opponents Ogre/Troll/Big Guy and take the hits. Your also nearly half way to buying an Apothecary, which is always a sound investment for your team in a league.

    Just my $0.02

Excellent! Thanks for the input, your $0.02 mean millions to me!

I'm just gonna go ahead and make a goblin for sure and have a go at making another thrower, that would leave both list options open...

I Played Orcs in 2 seasons in the league that i ran,
there really isnt too much need for 2 throwers in my opinion
i probably wouldnt worry about the goblin until later either or a troll for that matter..

    i had,

    1 thrower
    4 black orcs
    4 blitzers
    2 lineorcs
    3 ReRolls

I lost 1 orc in 2 seasons (about 28 games) and it was a lineorc.
Orcs are brutal because they have such a high Armour Value that you can survive almost anything!
You will however have to pick your skills wisely (especially with the thrower) ie. Accurate & Strong Arm
and as with any BB team, try and think long term.
Blitzers with tackle is a good start, to put more pressure on the 'dodgy' teams

Obviously this is purely my opinion from my personal experience so take it as you want
