The S40kC returns for its third year, and is different once again!
This event is a no surprises, straight up tournament, for the first time!
In previous years I was not able to provide what new players needed and experienced gamers demanded, and the result was unsatisfactory for both parties. So the obvious answer was to run two a year.
First round is determined by random drawing, then by Swiss ranking. Players cannot face the same opponent twice in the first four rounds.
There are clocks in the venue, and judges will call out a 30, 15 and 5 minute warning. Players are responcible for time keeping.
Death Clocks may be used on request.
Places are limited to 40 entrants, and tickets cost £18.

FaQ
Although these FaQ's may seem obvious, it is a new edition so please be considerate with responces.
Q: When can I declare I am going to use 'Look out, Sir!' (LOS)?
A: In a unit where all the models have the same armour/invulnerable/cover save, when a character is allocated a failed armour save it can then roll for LOS.
In units with mixed armour saves, any LOS rolls must be rolled before ANY armour saves are taken for the character(s).
Q: When can I take LOS rolls if the character is the target of a precision strike?
A: After the to wound roll has been made, but before any to save rolls are made.
Q: If a character has Feel no Pain and the unit he is in does not, how does this interact with LOS?
A: Feel no Pain can be used after any LOS rolls have been made.
Q: Can I use LOS against attacks that do not cause wounds?
A: No, LOS can only be used against attacks that cause wounds.
Q: After I have moved my assaulting units, I have the models with the highest initiative. Does this mean that I still use a pile in move to get more models in to base to base?
A: Yes
Q: If a unit has the 'Brotherhood of Psykers/Sorcerers' USR, does each model count as a psyker for the purposes of special rules?
A: For the purpose of special rules that effect Psykers, each model in the brotherhood counts as a psyker, unless otherwise stated by GW FaQ's.
Q: Infiltraters cannot charge in the first turn, even if the infiltaters do not gain the first turn?
A: As per the BRB, the first turn refers only to the first player turn. As such, infiltraters can assault in the first 'Game' turn as long as they do not have the first 'player' turn.
Q: If I choose not to use a squads infitrate special rules, can an IC join said squad during deployment.
A: The restriction applies to units that have the USR, not your choice to use it. IC's without infiltrate cannot deploy with a squad that has the infiltrate rule.
Q: Units that Scout cannot charge in the first turn, even if the Scouts do not gain the first turn?
A: As per the BRB, the first turn refers only to the first player turn. As such, scouts can assault in the first 'Game' turn as long as they do not have the first 'player' turn.
Q: Are Psychic pilots counted as Psykers for the purpose of special rules.
A: Yes, unless otherwise stated by GW FaQ's.
Q: As Flakk Missiles are listed in the BRB, do all missile launchers now have the ability to use them?
A: Flakk missiles are listed as an upgrade in the BRB, at the time of writing there are no units in the game that can purchase this new equipment.
Q: Once a Flying Monstrous Creature (FMC) has been grounded, is it still swooping? Can a grounded FMC be forced to take additional grounded tests?
A: Once a FMC has been grounded, it reverts to being a glider. As such it can only be grounded once per turn.
Q: If a FMC deploys as swooping via Deep Strike, can it ignore the minimum 12" move it must make?
A: FMC's cannot deploy as a swooper from deep strike. The rules for deep strike clearly state that models may not make any further movement after deploying, and FMC's must move to retain their swooping advantage.
Q: FMC's have the 'Relentless Smash' special rule, what is this?
A: This is a typo, please change it to 'Relentless, Smash'
Q: Are cover saves allowed against Vector Strike attacks?
A: No
Q: If passengers are forced to disembark from a destroyed transport vehicle, are they allowed to launch an assault in the their subsequent assault phase?
A: No, page 79 states that passengers cannot launch an assault in their subsequent assault phase, unless the vehicle has the assault vehicle rule.
Q: If passengers disembark from a shaken/stunned vehicle, do they continue to suffer the damage effects?
A: The effects of shaken/stunned only affect passengers of the vehicle, if a unit disembarks they cease to be passengers. If a squad embarks onto an afflicted vehicle, then they suffer the effects.
Q: Can a fire point be used for anything other than a shooting or witchfire psychic power?
A: No
Q: If a Chariot is destroyed in close combat, is its passenger locked in combat with the attacking unit?
A: The transported unit is not a part of the combat, the chariot rules allows it to attack and be attacked only. It has to disembark as normal (so can be destroyed by surrounding the vehicle).
Q: If I assault a chariot, does it count as a disorganised as I am assaulting both the chariot and its passenger?
A: The transported unit is not a part of the combat, the chariot rules allows it to attack and be attacked only.
Q: In a challenge, I inflict more unsaved wounds than the other character has on their profile. Are these carried over to the unit?
A: No
Q: Do units in a dedicated transport that has to start in reserve count against the maximum number of units allowed in reserve?
A: No, but this only applies to dedicated transports.
Q: How do automatic hits work against zooming flyers/swooping FMC's?
A: Such attacks cannot target flyers/FMC's, snapfire expressly states this.
Q: Can flyers deploy with using Deep Strike and ignore the minimum movement restriction?
A: Yes, when a vehicle deep strikes it counts as having moved at cruising speed (36" in this case)
Q: Are unique models characters?
A: Unique units comprising of just one model are characters.
Q: If I take a unique character, can I convert its weapons to gain a certain type of force/power weapon?
A: No, it is always assumed that they come with the 'stock' weapon. In the case of a unique not yet having a model, you are free to model the weapon how you wish.
Necrons
Q: As a the Night Scythe is a flyer, and the GW only FaQ'ed rules for disembarking from it, how can I embark on a Night Scythe?
A: Its a one way ticket!
Q: What are the effects on passengers of a destroyed Night Scythe?
A: They are placed in reserve, but suffer no damage.
Q: A whip coil armed Wraith makes a power sword armed sergeant strike at I1. At the I3 step the Wraith is removed as a casualty. The sergeant reverts to his I4, but has missed his initiative step. How does he attack?
A: If the Wraith is removed before an effected models initiative step, the model ceases to be affected and strikes as normal. If the Wraith is removed after the models initiative step, it will strike at the next initiative step.
Q: For the purposes of Whip Coils, when are models I reduced to one?
A: At the start of the Fight sub phase (subsequent pile-ins are unaffected)
Q: Can reanimation protocols or everliving be used against tank shock or sweeping advance?
A: No, in both these instances the afflicted models have been utterly, totally destroyed. They have pooped their pants, to quote Cartman.
Q: If an everliving model has been removed as a casualty, and his squad has been destroyed by a sweeping advance, is the everliving marker removed as the unit has been destroyed?
A: In this instance, only IC's everliving tokens are left in play. Attached Crypteks/Lords everliving tokens are removed.
Q: If an army containing the Stormlord takes allies, or is an ally of conveniance, do you roll to hit your allied units as they are treated as enemy models?
A: Yes
Q: Can the Ark special rules for Tesla affect FMC's and flyers (when 'flying'), as this does not use a BS to hit?
A: Yes. When this weapon ability occurs, no model is shooting at FMC's or flyers so is not subject to snap fire.
Q: If night fighting is in effect from game turn 5 onwards, does the Stormlords lightning start targetting units?
A: Yes
Tau Empire
Q: Can hits from a markerlight ground an FMC?
A: Yes
Grey Knights
Q: If I cast Quicksilver on a unit containing unwieldy weapons, what initiative do they strike at?
A: This is a contradictory 'set' modifier, in which case you must roll off to see which initiative you strike at at the start of each combat.
Space Marines
Q: Are Vanguard veterans an exception to the normal rules of not being allowed to assault out of reserve?
A: Yes, but only if they use Heroic Intervention.
Q: Does a Signum allow a marine to fire at a flyer at BS5?
A: This is a contradictory 'set' modifier, in which case you must roll off to see which BS you shoot at each time you fire.
Blood Angels
Q: Are Vanguard veterans an exception to the normal rules of not being allowed to assault out of reserve?
A: Yes, but only if they use Heroic Intervention.
Q: Does a Signum allow a marine to fire at a flyer at BS5?
A: This is a contradictory 'set' modifier, in which case you must roll off to see which BS you shoot at each time you fire.
Orks
Q: Is Zagstruks Vulcha Boyz mob an exception to the normal rules of not being allowed to assault out of reserve?
A: Yes
Q: What do I need to roll to hit with when a Bomb Squig targets a zooming flyer?
A: This is a contradictory 'set' modifier, in which case you must roll off to see which BS you shoot at each time you fire.
Chaos Daemons
Q: What type of power weapon is a Soul Devourer?
A: It is an unusual power weapon.
