Re: Solent 40,000 Challenge, July 2012, Portsmouth

The Solent 40,000 Challenge was another smash hit this year. Although numbers were down with the release of a new edition of the game, sixteen gamers did battle to decide our champion. As with any new version of our favourite game there were rules debates, but everything was carried out in a sportsmanlike manner.

I cannot thank all the players enough for making this event better than last year. More importantly I want to thank the Solent Wargamers Club for the use of their club facilities and Ben Calvert-Lee for his stunning prize artwork.

The winner of the Best Painted Army was Richard Horton’s Space Wolf army. Although nominated several times at various events this is his first award for painting, which I am sure will be the first of many!

    1 Michael Pike
    2 Ben Johnson
    3 Cerri Love
    4 Mike Lock
    5 Lee Brown
    6 Kevin Sharpes
    7 Will Clevett
    8 Richard Horton
    9 Rob Neal
    10 Mike Currey
    11 Axel Townsend
    13 Ed Law
    13 Ben Calvert-Lee
    14 Tom Radbourne
    15 Will Coy
    16 Alex Barbor

Apart from the top three players the other positions may change before being submitted to RHQ, subject to VP scores.

Currently I have no dates for another 40k tournament, but as soon as I do I'll let you all know!

Hi guys, not really bothered but just interested in how i finished 10th as i thought it said there were 3 of us at joint seventh when we all left. Also in regards to VP's, i didnt write them down for a couple of games as was told not to as they only really effected the top tabled players? Like i say not a moan or even a slight grumble, just interested, thats all.

Sorry buddy, you must of read it wrong. 3 people share 29 points taking 8th, 9th and 10th place (sharing 10th place, but thats an argument for another day)

I will add an improved tie breaker for the future.
