    Plastic Macedonian Phalangites

Up for pre-order from Warlord with the promise of metals on the way - http://www.warlordgames.com/16452/pl...n-phalangites/

They're sculpted by Wojtek so I assume this is something they've developed independently of acquiring Immortal Miniatures.

Looks nice! Hopefully the mix of weapons (and associated poses) will be better than their Roman kit.

Quite nice looking, though I'm not big on the painting.

Yes they said a long time ago (maybe a year or more) that they were doing Macedonians

I like the look of the minis, but just have no interest in Macedonians. I wonder how easily they'd be converted into hoplites, though, with proper arms and heads...

They're definitely from before Warlord's acquisition of Immortal, there was a preview of WIP sculpts quite some time ago. I was wondering when we'd see some more of these guys.
The great thing about the dwarves is that, even though there's this comic element, when they fight - they really fight!

I'm not sure you'd really need new heads. Doing arm swaps to get spear-and-aspis armed dudes would represent pretty late era hoplites, concurrent with the Macedonian Empire period (surprise!). I would look at maybe using the smaller shields from the Phalangites (hoplite shields started shrinking in this era) and maybe the arms from the regular hoplite sets.

The hoplites started to give way to the thureophoroi, which these phalangites could be converted into. You'd need a thrusting spear and an oval shield, probably from a republican Roman set, or the Warlord Praetorian set. You can order metal shields in bulk too, from plenty of manufacturers.

These are pretty cool, although I've been planning to go with 6mm for my Alexander/successor armies.

Well it is Warlord Games doing it. I AM joking people

I will admit it, I did not notice it. I was TOO busy drooling. I WANT THEM.

Plastic, 28mm good quality minies. The price (for pre-order even) was/is a good one. The idea of getting them earlier (or at the same time as the indie shops) is tempting too.

Huzzaw to Warlord Games keep the minies coming.

Haha, for that there's always the Wargods of Olympus Spartans from Crocodile games. I saw someone with a full WAB army of those guys and while obviously none too accurate it was a cool-looking army (even though I hated that movie).

WS.....thanks for the link. I just got a new dose of Chocodile's minies. They do look good, detailed and should paint up well.

THAT said....these days I prefer plastic 28mm minies.

Got an order in for two boxes. I plan on using the peltasts and cavalry from my hoplite army with these so just need to get some companion cavalry and I'm sorted for a Macedonian army.

I have access to a ready to go (all painted and metal) Greek Army. Still plan to get my hands on (more) plastic Greeks. I've already bought Immortal's first box. NOW.....It look's like I'll be buying Warlord Games/Immortal versions.

Fantastic release. Problem is that unless the release plastic Persian light/medium cavalry, then nobody will want to field an army to fight them unless they have money to burn.....

In the mean while....I think a rebellion may happen once more those pre-order goodies are in hand. A refight or just "what if" battles is very likely to occur on my table.

Oh....I do want plastic Persians to fight the Greeks. THAT said, those expected Macedonians should look really good in the front of my own "Greek/Macedonian" forces.

They've released some of the IM metal Greeks now. Cretan archers and Thessalian cavalry along with hoplite casualties and Greek civilians.
