Here is the finished engineer with the Hochland rifle.
The lid of the chest is finished and the paper roll did get the last paint stripes it needed. Futhermore the support staff for the rifle is finished and added. Finaly the base is completely done. It may be small details but complete the total picture.

Re: Altdorf PLOG, revival of an Old Empire Army

This is an old model converted from an CHAOS hero. As you can see I attched a new head, since I was not happy with the old result This head will fit the role it will play in my army more. The model will be refurbished and then be the captain for my new knightly order Of Mor. The old order Mor will get scrapped and maybe some parts of the models re used for other projects.

I think the Empire knightly order looks to much like toy soldiers. No matter how you paint them. Because I have seen beautiful results of the knights here. But they seem still too much toy soldiers to me.

The orders for my new knightly order are out. Now it is just waiting till they arrive.

Here are the first pictures of the captain.

Re: Altdorf PLOG, revival of an Old Empire Army

The horses from the Chaos knight will be used. So they will need some work to get the chaos out.
Some of the bodies will come from the outrider /pistoleers, from the general Empire set, the two rider bodies, and one old metal Mordheim knight.
Heads will come from several boxes, including probably some from the Great swords set.

The weapons will come from the the empire Knightly set and the General set, the lances. I think the champion will use a mace ass weapon and a small sword hidden behind the shield. The shields will come from the Chaos knights set and the Empire knights set.

I think i will use the banner from the Great swords. It is a beautiful one and the knights of Mor are tough so they can carry such a bulky standard.

For the mucision will use the trumpet from the outriders.

Here are two examples of already partly reworked horses. They will look more bulky then the standard Emire horses.

Re: Altdorf PLOG, revival of an Old Empire Army

This is what I was doing as an in betweener. I had this Engineer / Artillery master for a while and I just started with painting the cloak a flat blue then folowed by a wash of asurmen blue. I layered the high lights The leahter inner wear is done the same way with other colours.
The figure was coated with black for starters.Well this was all done in 1 evening so he went quite quick. He is almost fnishes. I will continue him while working at the knights. So you should be able to see him finished soon.

Here are some photos showing the almost finished stage.

Re: Altdorf PLOG, revival of an Old Empire Army

    Well been busy this week.

The conversion of the knights takes a lot of more effort the I had anticipated. And a lot of more green stuff. I started with five horses of the Chaos knights. This way I can keep a bit of pace and can use lessons learned for the next set of five horses.
The first what I did was cut off all the stuff the make it really chaos horses. Then i start with the green stuff. Filling and repearing stuff that needed some serious cutting.

From one horse I totaly cut of the tail, it was a tail of chains. I thought it would be easy te create a new tail with green stuff. I could not be more wrong. Because it needs work on both sides it became quite hard work. Since the side that was already done gets ruined when I work the other side.

So i need to find an other way to get the tail done, since I also need to do an other horse from the other set too.

Well here are the pictures of the work done so far for the horses

I have also started test fitting the bodies with the legs and the arms I am planning to use. That is also going to need more green stuff then I had thought at first. So the whole project is going to be a bit bigger then I had thought at first. In thought it would just be combining several kits. How wrong was I.

To keep a bit of motivation I also made the first five bases. They were a quick win project, since bases are things I always do with ease.

    Well here is the photo.

Here are the knights for the knights of Mor. There will be 10 knights. Most have been test fitted now, with a lot of kit bashing. This picture shows all 10 knights, ready for painting. I do not atach every arm weapon untill I am finished with painting. Simply because it is easier to paint without those.

The next picture shows the champion. I am not certain which arm I will use, the one with the sword or the mace. I think the decision will come at the last moment when all else has been done. Next to the champion is a knight that has been mostly build up from outrider components. THe cloak is fitted with a left arm from the Empire kinghts kit. To get the arm on properly took a lot of cutting and test fitting, but the result is good.

The next picture is with the standard bearer, the muscian and on other knight with a cloak from the outriders set.
The standard bearer is build up from the Empire great swords set. The muscian is a mix of of outrider, general and knights set. I haven't decided what will be the left arm. I love the trumpet from the outrider set.
The knight uses the other outrider cloak with a left arm from the knights set. This one was a bit less cutting and test fitting. The result here is very good.

The next picture shows three knights. THe helmets of the two left ones have been altered. The helmets did have panthers on there. Now they have skulls. Will post a picture later where the helmets will be more vissible.

A short update for what the progress is. The two converted cloaks from the knights have been painted. One in a dark red and the other in black. I am quite pleased with the result so far. In the end will need to see if the colours will fit together.

    Demoulius thnx.

Well had a few things going on in my pvt live but still managed to do some. I did the banner for the knights. There are still a few pencil stripes to be placed on it, so if you have some comments for me, now is the time.
Painting the banner was hard work. I am not the best of free painter, but no guts no glory. So this is what I mananged. There is no build up of how I painted it, because there was too much sweat to even think abot taking pictures. There was even a moment of temptation to just paint a simple cross on there. But I hang on and this is the result.

Here are pictures for the fist knight and his horse. I first wanted to finish one to see what i would encounter. And of course I will do things a bit different with the next knight. For example i found out that a dry brush makes a bit too much effect so the next knights will only receive hilights.

Well here are the pictures of the almost finished first knight.

And finally i put the knight on the horse. It is not totally finished yet. The knight still needs a shield and a sword in a scabbard.

Now just 9 more knights to go.

Re: Altdorf PLOG, revival of an Old Empire Army

Here is the second knight. He will be the standard bearer. I used the head of the general horse on this one because the Chaos knight horses have one head I think really does not fit on an Empire horse. The knight is as combination if outriders, great swords and the Empire knights.
The standard has not yet been glued on, because it still needs some minor painting.

Your latest Knights look very, very nice! Dark and gritty, just how one would imagine a Knightly order devoted to Morr... I like what you've done with the horses, they are much more in scale than the standard barded warhorses, good job!

You deserve to get more feedback! So many updates and hard work and very little replies? I'm almost ashamed that it took me this long to reply... Keep up the good work!
Check out my Mordheim scenery! NOW! I mean... Please... Only if you want to of course...

Boreas Thnx for your compliments It has been hard work. But I like it. It has been a while since I posted. You told me to post more so I will. But most will be for my Vampire Count army plog. Getting an army ready to play again. Looking forward to our next battle. I have the new VC book.

Dutch warlord and Lt Doughheim. THe banner has been hell to paint, thnx for your compliments. Free painting is not my strongest traide so there was a lot of cursing getting this banner done. I am guite pleased with the result. All I can say for banner is get an example of what you think you want and then paint relaxed. Stroke after stroke and be prepared to take things away. My girlf friend judged the banner all the time so good feed back. SHe still thinks it need some improvements hahahah.
