'Lo again all!
After having lots of fun with my Ultramarines over the past few months, I figured it was time for a return to Fantasy and something a bit more evil. I've been after doing a Chaos army for a while now and New Year seemed like the perfect excuse to start. To begin with, here's some pictures of the first Fantasy Chaos minis I've done since I started the hobby nearly a decade ago...





This is the first rank of a big block of Tzeentch warriors, aka The Black Phalanx, that'll form the core of the army. As you can see I can't pry myself away from painting blue just yet
The army will have specific sections dedicated to different gods. The core of the army will be the block of Tzeentch warriors and some knights led by a sorceror on a disc (obviously). The secondary sections will be some marauders and ogres dedicated to Nurgle led by the lovely plastic Nurgle champ, some Slaanesh dedicated marauder horsemen and then another unit of knights dedicated to Khorne. This will then hopefully be bolstered by Khorne daemon allies and some Chaos Dwarf war machines. So it's gonna be a long term project as you can tell.
Expect updates to be infrequent due to hobby time being slotted in between uni and other serious business.

Here's a taste of something different, some WIPs of the Nurgle marauders.



Nothing too special right? Well guess again...



They're all pretty infected as you can see. The marauders themselves tend to just have the odd lump/wound/maggots crawling over them but one has a massive daemon-leech sucking his brain. One of the cultists just has an infected head, whilst the other has two; one that just wants to bash things with his mace whilst the other just wants to cuddle his big maggot (settle down at the back).

I'm off for a week the week after next so I can do some more painting. I'll probably do more warriors or a few models from different units so you can see more of what I'm going for.

Another mini-update for you all. Some gribbly marauders...



From left to right, there's a blind man who counts as a musician (the bells give it away), a normal-ish standard bearer then a standard guy who is suffering from bloating down one side of his torso and face. Poor guy. Here's a couple of close-ups to show some GS work. It looks a bit rough in the pics cos of the magnification, but it's fine in real life. These guys are great for letting me practice some different bits and pieces with GS.



The musician is still WIP. He needs a few more gaps filling as well as a few more nurglings to help him on his way. Pretty pleased with how the nurgling stealing a bell came out. The musician's supposed to only have one leg too, which is why he's sort of resting on his staff with both hands. Gonna try and make that a little more obvious in the future.
Also, here's a quick taste of what I've been painting.


It's some Knights of Khorne. The riders are done, but the I'd rather show you them all together than just some dudes sat on grey horses. No idea when I'll get round to painting them :shifty:

Great start! As for staying at one colour, well I kinda know how hard it is to not paint in a certain colour
But I`ve been a good boy as my VC are yellow/green and my NLs are blue so getting there

You planning some specific stuff you want to do some heavy kit-bashing and/or converting on?

Thanks for the comments. I'm back with updates after another long stretch of absence (curse you, university!). Finally finished the Khorne knights after who knows how long. Must have been painting these on and off for 2 months. So here we go...

The Brazen Slaughters
The elite warriors of Lord Khaluk, the Brazen Knights are a fearsome but respected group amongst the Northern Tribes. Lord Khaluk believes only in martial prowess but also adheres to a strict code of honour. His warband is run on a system of meritocracy, where warriors must kill their superiors to advance to a position of power within the warband. Khaluk is a firm believer that the strong prosper whilst the weak must be crushed. Needless to say, the Brazen Slaughters have a high body count between them.
The Brazen Slaughteres ride to battle on great steeds. It is common belief that their steeds are reincarnated warriors, who ride to battle once more, carrying those they consider worthy. A much more likely explanation for the crimson-skinned mounts is that they are daemons of Khorne sent to the warriors as gifts for great deeds. Regardless, the cavalry of Lord Khaluk is something no man wishes to face, which is why a wise warlord would pay anything to see them fight on his side...






Hopefully I can make some progess with the warriors of Tzeentch next time. There should be a WIP of my Lord on disc too.

'Lo again all! Back with a variety of updates...
First off, finished the second rank of the warriors. A third of the way through the unit now.


Next up, a WIP of the Tzeentch sorceror. Just a headswap on Sayl the Faithless from Forge World. Looks a bit scruffy here but I've got plenty of time to tidy up anything before I paint him. Kudos to anyone who knows what head I used originally. Monochrome pic for the hell of it too.



Here's some pics of some marauders too. The musician I've shown before but he wasn't finished. The beast handler I did the other day whilst thinking of ideas for unit fillers.




I'm currently waiting on a package from GW so I can carry on painting but as it's decided to snow today, there's no post. Hopefully it'll be here tomorrow as it's the last chance I'll get for painting for a while. I'll also be reporting on how the new paint range is, which should be interesting.

Sorry for not answering the first time you posted, I must have missed it! No big plans at the moment. I'm taking it on a unit-by-unit basis. The Chaos models are so nice anyway, very little needs doing to them to make them look good. The Nurgle Marauders and sorceror are the only real conversions I'm doing at the mo, but they're nothing more than a few GS jobs here and there. We'll see what the future holds

Surprise update to the face!





Finally got some time to paint again now, so I painted up this Lord from Games Day a few years back to go with the Warriors of Tzeentch. Definitely a fun mini to paint even though the pose is a pain sometimes. More updates will be coming over the summer months, honest! Next up will either be a spawn or some nurgle marauders. We'll see...

Got cracking today and finished this spawn. The skin came out surprisingly well considering it's only basically just a few washes and drybrushes.
Next up will almost certainly be some nurgle marauders. Once the weather clears up I can get out and undercoat them. Ha, British weather, clear up? What next?

Whacky marauder update!




These guys were a bit of a pain to paint. I couldn't really find a satisfactory mix of quality and quickness, as skin needs a bit of extra work for it to look decent. Oh well, this will do. Not like I've got another 45 of these to go...
Also, hope you guys like the brain slug, om nom nom.

Also also, knocked up some seriously f'ed up flaggelants.




Quite chuffed with how well the plaguebearer bursting out that guys back came out, but I'll probably go back and do some more bits to the big eye guy. Something's missing but I can't think what.

Continuing my unbroken chain of updates (no comments doesn't mean no updates, but a little feedback is nice grumble grumble), here's some newly painted marauders. Throwing in some variety by using some flagellants who are truly and utterly dedicated to the big rotting' daddy.
