Hi, after collecting for over 10 years I've finally decided to get down to painting. Thought I'd post my progress on here as incentive.
As my name suggest, I collect dwarfs mainly and have over 10k worth of them, very little of which is painted, or painted to a standard I'm happy with. Heres what I've managed to do recently:
I want to add a bit of character to my units, so I'm trying to add dioramas within them as unit fillers.

And another slayer unit filler, though need to work on the base.

I like your slayers. Both the poses that you've come up with are really cool but I particularly like the one standing on the troll.
Cheers, I think I may have rushed a bit towards the end. The chain is the smallest I could find, but seems a bit big for the model, and also I think I should have tried painting it rather than leaving it bright silver. Might try and do something to it at some point.
Here's my Bugman. At the min I use him as a lord on Shieldbearers, but only untill I get the White Dwarf carried by Gotrek and Bugman done, at which point I think the barrels will be classed as an oathstone should I use one, seems fitting, Dwarfs would not want to leave their beer.

Great work!
I love the scenic bases and the freehand on the banner is excelent!
Cheers Fluffy, sadly the freehand on that banner isn't my work, a friend did it for me, did a really good job too. Now so as not to make that banner stand out so much I'm trying to do my own freehand for the other banners, got 1 done so far, think it turned out ok, though nowhere near my friends standard. What you think?
And here's the whole command for the next unit, just need to add some snow to the bases.

Liking the look of the dwarves so far. The freehand banner you have done is not bad at all.
Might have to steal the slayer pounding the orcs unit filler idea for my slayers if you don't mind.
Bring on the rest.

Troubled by Ogres, then say no more. Read The Migration Patterns of the Ogre and you will know what to do with the pests in your larder. Just don't ask about the 'Trolls in the Pantry'. - Ogre PLOG
Cheers Fitzbaron, hoping my banners will gradualy get better the more I practice. I think slayers chopping up orcs is always fun to see, I wanna do a diorama like in Giant Slayer, where Gotrek is swinging on a giants optic nerve, but gotta save up the pennies first.
Managed to get Cockatrice done, just need to base that too, think theres a trend with my models lacking finished bases. Am gonna have a model, probably a slayer, partway through suffering the Cockatrice's stone stare thing, think it would look quite cool.

10K dwarves? That is going to take you a whileNice painting skills so far, keep it up.

The Sands of Nehekhara - A terrain log
Glok's Grotto - My gaming log
Cheers Maglok, it has already taken a while but am really starting to get into it properly, really enjoying it. Although I want my Dwarfs done, im starting my Daemons as well, wanna try get what I already own painted before summer while still getting Dwarfs done.
This is the first attempt, just trying to get colours sorted.
Cheers Fluffy, I know what you mean, seeing other people get stuff done has really inspired me to paint more, as well as attempt to model stuff. Some of the work people do with greenstuff is amazing, makes me wanna practice more.

I've been working on warmachines and their crews lately, fed up of gaming with only the warmachine. Am getting there, but now considering ways to base them, not really sure how to do it, anyone got any suggestions?
I have been trying to do all the things I was given for christmas, just cause it seems fair for me to take the time to complete things after they have spent the money buying it. Here's a work in progress of a stegadon:

Got some of my great weapon unit done
The bases that the command group are on are going to form the centre of the unit as though there is a road or path, the 2 ends are hopefully going to look a bit more rugged. I am working on the unit filler for this unit, again an orc, though I think that all I'm doing is making it more difficult to transport the army.
Any feedback or suggestions would be welcome.

I think it's some nice freehand, it's got a nice, simple dwarf vibe to it. I like the slayer taking the orc down too, fits very nicely together.
My one criticism is that the dwarf lopping the skeletons head off has a pretty visible mold line running down his axe and axe arm, probably not too noticable if he's in the middle of the unit, and I'm not sure how far you want to take your rank 'n file, but it stands out in the pic.
From a distant darkness in the galaxy...
Invaders arrived on shining Earth.
With solid ties and burning friendship...
And with the burning your passion in your eyes, confront them.
Using the Gekigan beam, defeat the mecha monster that destroys peace
What appears in the light of hope is...
The robot of justice, Gekiganger 3!
A lot of my older models have that problem, and it's really annoying. When I put together the majority of my models I was younger and in a rush to play so didn't take my time on them, something I regret now. My focus has changed from simply playing, to playing with as many painted models as I can, the effect on the table is amazing. Think I had better check rest of my models before painting them now. cheers Gekiganger.

Aint managed to get much done lately, busy with Uni work. Got these WIP's though:
Thorgrim's Throne Bearer
Dwarf Lord
Am not sure what colour to do the feather's though, am thinking something really bright like blues and purples or browns up to yellowy gold, any suggestions?
And my Bloodthirster
Got a lot of work to do in him yet, hope it pays off.
suggestions and comments welcome![]()

The red on the bloodthirster's skin is looking good. For the feathers on the dwarf lord's helm I'd go for the browns up to yellowy gold. Blue and purple feathers don't sound very dwarfish.
Cheers, it's coming along slowly, but am scared mess it up, not used to doing bigger models. And yea, I think I will try and do feathers that way, will post up a pic when it's done.
Here's my grudge thrower.
Gonna try and do something similar for all my war machine bases, might add some more details to this one yet, thinking of the telescope from the cannon kit maybe.

I like your unit fillers, full of manic action. Will need to think of some ideas for my own unit fillers to make the big blocks of stunties more interesting to look at.
Keep up the good work.
