Gang wars miniatures - lovely necromunda figures

Really interesting new company called Gang wars - well worth a look for those into Necromunda.

Its quite interesting that its taken this long for a company to use shapeways to produce full figures. Theres been a few companies doing starships and 6mm/15mm figures for awhile.

There offering a range of stuff including lots of weapons options (which, I should imagine, will work on imperial guardsmen as well as this range). The actual ganger options seem a little limited currently but the trench coat chicks are absolutely stonking lovely, and I should imagine we'll see more of these sooner rather then later.

Nope and that would be the danger however, if you click on the miniatures tab on the right theres literally hundreds of bits and pieces so I'm sure someone out there has experience (and more importantly pictures) with stuff from shapeways when it comes to models.

    Female delaques huh?
Prices need to come down before they're in consideration range.

They are striking. Certainly unlike anything I currently have in my collection. The price is a bit much though for something that I'm not sure what I'd do with.

I'd like to see some actual miniatures before commenting fully (I'd like to see them next to some of Heresy's Trenchcoat gangers and some Delaques for size), but the designs are nice enough. They remind me of the burd from The Transporter 2. Sadly, I think I've been reading Tom Meier's forum posts too much - the fabric, especially their trousers, doesn't look right. Unless they're supposed to be wearing rubber waders.

You could ask around on Starship Combat News - there's been a few people selling spaceship models from Shapeways for a while now, IIRC, so they might have some comments on how well a model goes from digital image to physical sculpt.

Probably because all the people knowledgeable about 3D printing tend to regard Shapeways' resolution to be... lacking. Companies like Antenociti get stuff printed at several times the resolution of Shapeways and still spend hours sanding down the master before they regard it as usable for mouldmaking.

Note that I've not seen Shapeways output in the flesh myself, this is going off what I've been told by several people in the industry.

I was thinking the same thing. I'd like some female Delaque, but not at that price.

I like those gangers, but their feet seem a bit erm huge. All though weapons and scavvy conversion it could always be useful

What's wrong with the price? They come out to £4 per figure, which is quite reasonable IMO. It's not like you need a hundred of them.
Of all the threads in all the forums in all the world you had to post into this one.

Those are nice! But why is everyone so hung up on the price? 13 E for three miniatures ain't that bad. I especially like the Water Still. If this company takes off I hope they will do more scenery like that.

But agreed, we will need to see some actual miniatures. Also, I tend to have some distrust towards companies whose websites have spelling mistakes in them.

For those complaining about the price - that its in the MOST EXPENSIVE material they offer. There are alternative materials they can be cast in at HALF the price!

At $3, or £2, per figure, it is pretty good value there.
Hell, I am buying some at that price, to mix and match with Heresy's trenchcoat gangers to make a Delaque gang!

I think you'd have to go for the most expensive option to get a decent quality, and even then I share IJW's concerns.

Not sure. I have a few Transformers from there (One guy there makes mini cassette transformers that fit inside the War For Cybertron Soundwave's chest cavity) each about 35mm, and in the "White strong and flexible" material, pretty much the lowest grade material they have going on shapeways. They retain good detail (Decepticon symbols and all), and just require a bit of filing once removed from sprues, in order to bring out the detail obscured by the "fluff" that is layered on top of that material.

Got any photos of them? It makes it easier to discuss the quality.

There's one way to settle a lot of this - let me see what funds I can shake out of Mrs Addams and I'll see what I can do about doing a review
