Re: White Dwarf mystery-image on spine

I would like to know if any one else has the Jan and Feb issues that are not the same scale on the spine and dont even remotely line up. I live in Australia if that matters.

Hmm judging from how much is shown already we'll see the chest and head fully by the april/may timeframe. Since this started in January's issue, it may be logical to think the entire image will show up when 2012 ends. So the Dark Angel will be obvious around teh April timeframe and if there is a Chaos Space Marine next to it, that would probably be visibly obvious around the July/August timeframe?

So maybe Dark Angels in April/May and Chaos Space Marines in July? CSM would coincide with 6th edition release (at start of UK Olympics) maybe starter set at this time or shortly thereafter? I kinda hope they doe this every year with there WD spines... kinda fun.

Some of the Canadian WD's had images on the spine (when CDN WD existed). Seem to remember it being an image of a Golden Demon.

It looks like the image of Ultramarines on the bookmark I recently got at a GW store. I think it's advertising the "Space Marine Battles" line of BL books.

I'm far from certain, because if they are the same image then the bookmark only really shows the upper right of what will be shown on the complete collection of WD spines. The colors work, though. Blue marines in a yellow-green light.

Would you be able to post a pic?

Actually, I take it back. The image on the bookmark is from the Fall of Damnos book cover, and now that I can see the whole thing it does not look like the WD spine image. Never mind!

    All right.

Here is my statement that people continue to ignore. Why would they put a Dark Angel picture on the side of the white dwarfs, and make it for something that is going to be released in April or even May when the picture will continue to be shown for many months thereafter?

I might have to leave Warseer because its starting to get a little dumb... I thought people like Ghost21, and others from recent rumor posts, held some weight with rumors. But this 'Hastings' shows up and he is Jesus.

Who is next? Who is the best, most accurate rumor giver here on Warseer? Eh?

Because there is no DA Codex, only DA in a starter. The stuff about a codex has been taken out of context.
Dark Angels, Tau, Eldar, Emperor's Children, Black Templars, Necrons, Dark Elves, Cult of Slaanesh

If they are in the starter, the codex should't be to far off. Who would want an army in the starter box, that has an old and rather dissapointing codex?

Maybe they release the DA in april. By then, it could be clear that the Marine on the spine is a Dark Angel.

But further White Dwarfs will reveal the right side, which clearly shows him being dedicated to Chaos / being a Fallen. Like TwoFace.
That would be an awesome stunt to pull off, and allthough I cancelled my WD subscription (due to it basically beeing a big Ad, I only enjoyed Jervis' articles), I might even pick those up if only for this image in the book shelve!

    regards

It could be a Black Templar tabard. DA are not the only ones covered in cloth. I'm not saying it's the case, just pointing out that "cloth on leg" does not mean only DA.

Its the light that apears green not necessarily the marines armour in fact it just looks like a marine with a robe standing in green light, the shoulder pad isn't clearly visable and isn't displaying a chapter mark of any kind. Could be either bt or da. We wont know until the next couple of wd are out.

What baffles me is if Dark Angels are to be the 6th ed poster chapter, then releasing their codex before 6th ed would leave them with a soft cover, 5th ed codex. And for people picking up 6th ed and seeing Dark Angels as the cool marines in the starter, they would expect a fancy codex like all the others (will have).
This leads me to think the spine covers could eventually display something 6th ed related, but won't mean anything about release dates - in other words - it's just a cool 40k picture for the anniversary year. :-)

Regarding my previous post, I just realised in fantasy, the starter set armies don't have fancy new books yet. Damn. I'm just hoping Dark angels will get a sweet full colour hard back codex.

Oh thank god if the DA get a new codex. The lack of rumors and people "hatin" on DA made me have doubt. I started painting DA and then stopped once there was no rumors of DA on the horizon

Just my thoughts, but perhaps when the image is half complete, the other half will be a Fallen Angel? In other words, half the image is a regular Dark Angel, the other half one of The Fallen? Each side representing when their respective codex is being released, as well as what will be included in the starter set?

Even if I'm completely wrong, this certainly is interesting!

The only confirmations are that DA and Chaos in the starter, and Chaos will be the first codex of 6th edition.
