As others have intimated, it could be the center-most bit cropped from the cover of the new C: DA, whenever that will come out...

I'm still expecting to see other space marine chapters show up on the spines so that you've got this space marine rainbow to commemorate the anniversary. Standing should to shoulder against whatever the imperiums biggest threat in 6th will be maybe.
That would be a *lot* of White Dwarfs. It's going to take at least 4-5 more to complete the current Space Marine.
Every space marine chapter standing shoulder to shoulder with their arms over each other. In the background is a Hive Tyrant with each arm over the lot of them. A cheesy camp photo grin on them all.

I think that the image on the WD spine is just a picture of a Dark Angel Space Marine to celebrate 25th anniversary of 40k. I think the reason they are using a Dark Angel is that it they will probably be the first marine codex updated for 6th edition. Changing things around from time to time would help to keep things from getting stagnant. So, I would say that it is an image for the 25th anniversary and not that the Dark Angels are the next codex. I honestly think it will be Chaos. Wither before 6th edition or after, I can't really say for certain. As I am a Dark Angels player, I would love to get a new codex soon, but I don't see it happening before Chaos. I just thought I would add my 2 cents to the discussion.

What's that GW? More Dark Angels?... Well if you insist.... (A 2nd battle company started...) What? Chaos resurgent and in the box too? (Long, long delayed 1ksons started)
Is this really still being talked about?
I'm with Gorbad. I didn't think this meant anything more than a picture along White Dwarf spines when it started, and I still don't. It just seems like a nice picture.

When did GW release something? Was it plastic or metal? Who sculpted it? Come find out:Fantasy, 40K, LOTR, BFG, Blood Bowl, Epic, Inquisitor, Man O' War, Mordheim, Necromunda & Warmaster
Well, if the pictures don't mean anything then that's quite cruel of Games Workshop.
Hey, we're going to take an army that has long been in desperate need of an update, put a steadily growing picture of one of them on the White Dwarf spines, and put them as the the new Marines in the Paint Starter Set (with new shoulder pads designed specifically for them!). But, guess what Dark Angels fans, it means absolutely nothing! We just felt like doing it to raise false hope for no apparent reason.![]()
Or they just decided to put a cool picture on the spines of White Dwarf?
Seriously, why do some people have this attitude that everything GW goes is some spiteful attack at them personally?
Though I'm not suggesting Dark Angels -aren't- on their way. I just think it's reading a bit much into the spine picture to take it as a sign of that.

This thread is well and truly done and dusted. We know the image is a Dark Angel. What, if anything, that means is only speculation. The discussion will simply cycle round and round.
With that in mind, Thread Closed.
