Maybe I have missed something as it has been a while since I read the other Heresy Books, but I have a couple of questions.
1. In one of the anthology books aren't the Ultramarines training in how to defeat other legions. Why then is one of them in trouble for daring to think about how to fight other marines?
2. Calth seems to take place a LOOOOONG time after Istvaan, with the Word Bearers having had time to pick up geneseed from fallen marines. In all the time that has passed since Garro hooked up with Dorn and filled him in, Dorn mobilised the Legions to Istvaan, they dropped and got massacred, the Word Bearers flew all the way across the galaxy to Calth etc, why has no-one thought to inform the Ultramarines of this little bit of news, nor have the Ultramarines wondered why there has been no communication from anyone outside Ultramar except Horus?
Rules of Engagement is set AFTER Know No Fear. And reputedly there is warp storm stuff going on around Ultramar that somehow the UM aren't aware of. Could also be that the WOrd Bearers had already prepared the way and had set up interception astropathic teams or something. /shrug
