I think after this month I may switch over to empire as having two armys both semi painted is a pain..I might sell my high elves also im not sure.. I already have Tyrion up on Ebay even thou I really don't want to sell him but Im critically short on money and need to get a cash flow incoming.

Hi, I am still painting the army. I have been busy with real life though out January. I only have 6 bases to finish for last months task, which will be done tonight.

Also the fact that I played a game with my Skaven lastnight really got me motivated again. I may "cheat" this month and paint Deathmaster Snitch to bulk up may points. But after that I will get back to the slaves.

    Thanks

@MOMUS: The base work is splendid, really helps lighten up the lizards – my favorites are the chameleon skins, creepy red vibe.

@EmperorNorton: Hah, so my boss just asked me what I was looking at – fortunately he plays Warriors of Chaos, so my blithered explanation went over ok. Tzeentch works in mysterious ways. Anyhow, the sorceress looks stunning, you’ve done great work with the flesh tone (something I’m bad at) and I love the hydra – they sure have been feeding that thing!

@Loki73: Would you mind if I tried out that orange? Do you base in black or white? And every time I see you work on orcs, it reminds me that I’ve got zillions of them to get cracking on – thanks for the inspiration, I might have to get started on them once the demons are done.

@Malorian: Good golly Miss Molly, I have an extra abyssal terror and a goblin at home RIGHT NOW. Those are some great ideas for conversions – I bet the orc headbutted the Stonehorn into submission. Love the fur on the giant gribbly especially! Also very much like the banner work.

@Gogs78: Wonderful work on the blending purple, mate. Your stuff puts mine to shame!

@Braad: Wow, that’s an ace model – might have to pick one up at the shop. I feel your pain with three of a kind, I think I’m up to seven wyverns now, all different ages. It’s a shame they’re not so good on the field!

@GuardsmenHawke: Those spearmen are second to none, my jaw literally dropped. Wonderful little touches to them. Might have to do up a regiment in red myself…

@Kaos: Kaos, your stuff as usual pops right out – I’m trying out that blue tonight, though the last few times I’ve attempted something that bright have met with failure. Really love what you’re doing with the army as a whole, very cohesive!

@Tekore: Wow, the army’s really meshing well, isn’t it? The basework really helps with that, well done. Love the paintjob on the treekin too!

@Laborious: Ah, the gnoblar’s a nice touch! I like the addition of height to these guys, I have 12 of the original Golfag’s Ogres – silly old models – and have to do something similar, so I’m watching your work with great interest.

@Azhag Morglum: Wow, the skin on those shamen is second to none – and of course I love the squigs. Your stuff really is top notch, you should be proud of it.

@Rikk: It’s my favorite word from 2011 – Arachnarok! I love the goblins especially here, but the spider looks just real enough for me to take my feet off the floor for a while.

@Zark the Damned: Let’s see an army shot! I love how your stuff is turning out, pity my Empire’s all finished. You a fan of the new handgunner models? The old single-pose do have a certain charm, I think.

@Great horned owl: Sorry to hear about your father mate, that’s a tough thing to go through. Eagle does look wonderful – always have had a tough time dealing with them on the tabletop. Love the work you did on the base too.

@colonel kane trine: Oh, lovely work on the minos and the razorgor especially. And I’m a sucker for well-painted chaos spawn, wonderful there also!

@Doi: Yes, wonderful work on the head-swap, first thing I noticed. I think you’re a bit too hard on yourself with the skin tone, it looks a little muted here and there but otherwise mint!

@daismith906: Wow, nice work by your friend. Tell him I have three of those to paint and could use a hand, will ya? 

@JackDaw: Blast and damnation, JackDaw, yet another idea I’ll have to thief wholesale. Uh, if you don’t mind. The censer is my favorite bit of the whole unit, actually. And the paintjob is second to none. Get yourself down to Boston and we’ll fire a game up! :P

@Morglum Necksnapper: Wonderful work there – army shot is fantastic. I love what you do with your skin tones and have been experimenting on my own snotlings (hope you don’t mind, your stuff is teaching me quite a bit) – you’re going to keep painting with us I hope?

@perplexiti – Oh, the chainmail really stands out, doesn’t it? And I just did my own Anvil, love that model. Looking forward to seeing it all based!

@Morkash – oh, wow, that’s quite a model isn’t it? Love the skin tone, the whole kit looks very creepy.

@DAGabriel – love the carrion mate. I also vote hobgoblins!

@Shandowner – Oh, good, the army shot! Love how these guys have turned out, just corkin.

I've been painting like a machine so far this year, as you can see from my counter. Sadly, nothing of this was related to my Ogres. I just lack any and all motivation for them. To make this short: I'm OUT of this. Sorry.

Azhag's mouth? Well, I took my clippers and cut the hanging part off, then resculpted it with greenstuff.

Not good on the field? He already played his first battle, and single handedly took down marius leitdorf and chased his bodyguard of 7 inner circle knights of the board, after headbutting a cannonball back to it's owner, and ducking under a huge ball of flaming magic ****.

That's normal, happens every year. Only the die-hard painters stay with us till the end.

Sweet, I finished my BSB today, and found out our camera is broke as a joke. If anyone has run into this problem: After you take the picture and it goes to show it on the screen and it's got pixel lines horizontally. Anyone have any recommendations for a good one around the 300 dollar mark? I'll snap a pic on my phone and post it, but cmon!
A shake of this and a sprinkle of that, then BAM!!!! It's my PLOG! (contains dark elf, dwarf, lizards and more)

    @ dwarfhold13
If you want to use the camera for taking pics of miniatures, make sure that the focal point distance can be very close to the lens and it has good options for macro. Other than that, I guess most camera's will do. I got an older Sony model similar to, for example, the current Nicon Coolpix L120. I really love this type of camera. It's not as cumbersome and more user friendly then SLR camera's, but better picture quality than those small pocket models. Since every camera now has a gazillion pixels, it's the lens size that often really adds to picture quality.

Now that I'm looking at that Nikon... GIMME!

    Comments time:

@MOMUS (Lizardmen): A nice variety of beasties there.
@EmperorNorton (DE): Lovely Sorceress. Awesome, awesome Hydra. I love the Grendel models and that looks the part next to the tiny DE handlers >
@Loki73 (O&G): VERY nicely done.I really like the fierce orange trolls!
@Malorian (O&G): Yep - the Stonehorn and the Orc Warboss are well-suited to each other {>
@gogs78 (HE): These are great. Enough said.
@Braad (O&G): The rider is well-chosen. His pose fits really well with that of the Wyvern. The dark painting adds to the grim and hard image.
@GuardsmenHawke (HE): That's a fair lot. Nice work. Keep them coming
@Kaos (Dwarves): The blue colour is lovely. The brass is well done too. Thumbs up for that wall art.
@Tekore (WE): Dark and grim. Perfect for WE.
@Laborious (OK): Nice Ogres. They'll stand out against those snow bases.
@azhagmorglum (O&G): Exquisite painting on those Shamen. Beautiful.
@Rikk (O&G): Hehe. Arachanarok. Big, bold and blue, with a nice back pattern. Good work.
@Zark the Damned (DoW): Congratulations on finishing. 40-odd figures in a month is good going. Please do an army shot next month though.
@Great horned owl (HE): Very inventive and charming conversion there.
@colonel kane trine (BoC): Those Minotaurs look fierce hehe.
@doomscape (Dwaves): That army fluff sounds perfect for stubborn Dwarves. You have a lovely selection of models there, and your army interests me because we have similar painting styles and basing. One word though - I don't think any Dwarves would be daft enough to stand IN FRONT of the Deathroller. Get it into the front rank!
    @doomscape (DoC): Nice work.
@Doi (DE): Ooh. You are getting close to completion now. 1460pts already. I'm liking the blue contrast colour.
@Doi (OK): That is a huge figure. The rider's pose looks great.
@daismith906 (OK): Your painting is superb as always, but I just hate that sculpt. The wheels and fur are very nice.
@JackDaw (DE): Great. I really rate these. The black armour and sinister green eyes gives them a dark edge.
@Morglum Necksnapper (O&G)@ Snotlings are always fun. Add mushrooms, pump wagons, and dragon wings and the fun factor goes up another million percent. Your army looks fantastic, I bet it would be loads of fun to play (or play against).
@perplexiti (Dwarves): Thorek is a great sculpt and you've really done him justice as far as I'm concerned.
@perplexiti (Lizarmen): The muted and realistic lizard colours work well.
@Morkash: He certainly looks nasty! :O
@DAGabriel (TK): Great TK figs. The base looks great. If you do them all like that, they could take some time....
@Shandowner (Spartan HE proxy): Congratulations on passing the finish line. The army looks great. Please could you do a bigger army pic though?
@Fabius Bile (OK): Great base and good paintjob.

    WIP pics to follow shortly.

Re: The Tale of Fantasy Painters 2011-2012: Month 5 (Jan painting and Feb WIP

Hi Guys! Love your work, here are my comments for this month:

    Page 1

@MOMUS (Lizardmen): Love that old school saurus warriors. Nice work but a little low on contrast.
@EmperorNorton (DE): Have seen that Hydra on your thread, breathtaking.
@Loki73 (O&G): love your work, am just starting on my hobgoblins and will have to compete with you, poor me.
@Malorian (O&G): Nice start, more, quicker, greener!
@gogs78 (HE): Very clean painting, great work.
@Braad (O&G): More green, but nice painting. Only thing I don`t really like are the wings, but don`t know how to make it better.
@GuardsmenHawke (HE): Really productive, but what happened to that banner?
@Kaos (Dwarves): Another one to compete, won`t you convert to Hashut?
@Tekore (WE): Good work on models I don`t really like, nice basing.
@Laborious (OK): Nice Ogres. They could need alittle more contrast.
    @azhagmorglum (O&G): Great - work - fullstop.
    @Rikk (O&G): Arachnophobia!
@Zark the Damned (DoW): Congrats, as far as the pics allow a comment it is nice work.
@Great horned owl (HE): Love it!!! Only the tree could use another highlight.

    Page 2

@colonel kane trine (BoC): Nice work for such a workload.
@doomscape (Dwaves): Love those models and the painting seems to be nice. Crappy pics.
    @doomscape (DoC): Nice old models.
@Doi (DE): Why do DE-gals don`t wear real armor?
    @Doi (OK): Sweet one.
@daismith906 (OK): Love that thing, the painter did good work, only the face is … not that good.
@JackDaw (DE): Nice work here, a great concept.
@Morglum Necksnapper (O&G): Love them, sweet work with many funny aspects. The army looks great
@perplexiti (Dwarves): Another one to convert to Hashut. Why do you invest such great work into those weaklings?
    @perplexiti (Lizarmen): Nice Lizzies!
@Morkash: Don`t love the sculpt, nice basing.

    Page 3

@Shandowner (Spartan HE proxy): Congratulations on finishing. Pity the pics aren`t so good. And yeah, CDs for ever!

Re: The Tale of Fantasy Painters 2011-2012: Month 5 (Jan painting and Feb WIP

    DWARVES WIP:

I have been busy painting and am still committed to the ToFP 2011-12 cause.

On the Dwarf front, I have purchased some rather fetching stonthrowers from Foundry:

Stone throwers for splatting Goblins and Skaven.

This stone thrower is done, apart from highlights on the metals.

The Dwarf is a limited edition model commissioned by a group of us over on a popular Dwarf web forum. I just got him and painted him up this week

He's not finished yet (about 3/4 there), but I think he's come out pretty well.

The stone throwers are lovely models (and they are discounted if you buy 3 of the same, as is most Foundry stuff). If you get some, then I would strongly recommend some heavy duty glue and green stuff, as these are hefty models.

I'm going all out on a warmachine offensive for my Dwarves in the Tale of Fantasy Painters. I have loads of footsloggers now, so some artillery will give me a welcome break from them. I'm not bothered about making a 'technically legal' 2000pts this time (though I probably will), as I could probably make a 5000ish pt army 'legally' from my collection. For now, I just want to finish my AoW characters and get lots of warmachines!

ARMY: Warriors of Chaos - 2000pts (MEN)

UNIT: Chaos Sorceror Lord of Tzeentch on Disc (1/2) + Chaos Sorceror (Done) + Juggernaut Hero of Khorne (1/2)

BACKGROUND/THEME: The evil Rainbow Warlock is a master of wizardy and enchants all he meets to his dark cause. Men, beasts, and strange creatures rise up and follow the melody of his enchanting voice and hypnotic eyes, and follow him on his mystical crusade.

BUILD/CONVERSION: All vanilla OOP Citadel/GW figs. The Sorceror witht he skull face is a plastic figure from the game Heroquest.

STILL TO DO: 1/2 way on the Lord and Hero, finished on the Sorceror (except for basing).
HIGHS & LOWS: High - finishing something (lol).

    POINTS: 250 + (450+200)/2 = 575
    TOTAL POINTS SO FAR : 160+575 = 735 pts.

DICE ROLL : 6, but I'll try and comment on as many entries as I can!

Rainbow Warlock - counts as Chaos Sorceror Lord on Disc of Tzeentch.

    Chaos Sorceror - from Heroquest.

    Juggernaut Hero of Khorne.

Knights of Khorne - getting there at last!

    The Chaos army so far

My plan is to finish these (including the Knights) in the next month. This will take me to about 1200pts. Then I'll probably paint up a Chariot of Khorne, and a unit of Tzeentch Knights. Marauders/Warriors will follow these and round out the points to 2000.

Re: The Tale of Fantasy Painters 2011-2012: Month 5 (Jan painting and Feb WIP

So, if I get it right you now got 3x 0 points, in month 4 you got 590 and in month 5 it's 605 totalling 1195 with no jokers?
I thought originaly that my total for the month was 605. I was off. It actually is 590. No worries. as long as im on track im good. I was just wondering if we could split the difference to get rid of some jokers. ie 200 for this month 200 for last month, 190 for the month before that getting rid of two of my jokers. NO worries though just keep as is.
