Yes, make them available.
No, they're dated and they should have been taken down.
No opinion on the matter.

Read a lot of the new "How to Paint" book this weekend. The "Army Projects" do a good job of replacing the online articles for those armies they cover. So long as GW keeps up a good work rate with these then i reckon we have a replacement that is a step forward. Many of these guides won't now be free but from a "Step By Step" point of view the new "How to Paint" book is great, and also really enjoyed the Space Wolves Army Project in the last White Dwarf. Good stuff GW.

Dated or not, there are no alternative articles up, so they should have stayed. IMO, the more articles in general, about gaming, fluff and modelling/painting the better! And I´d guess the web space needed for them is insignificant and not reason enough to not have them.

But the articles can now be said to be inaccurate, rather than just dated.
'Now use this paint, which you can't get anymore'.
Plus, they are going for a whole new style of painting guide. This months White Dwarf has a several sample one (nothing in depth mind!).
Also, I imagine there may be some kind of 'How To Paint' thing released for each army as and when they get released. All about the product link, and increasing ATV. And if it happens to make your customers all the more dependant on your product range, so much the better. Some might say this is cynical, I'd more call it solid business sense!

It's been a year. They're not coming back, are they?
I very much doubt it. CURSE YOU, G.W.!!![]()
They've been replaced by the digital painting guides which you have to buy.
Cool! Oh wait no, the opposite of that. Since: 1) I have an Android Device, and 2) I am insulted that GW wants the physical book price for an ebook.
It's baffling from a marketing standpoint too. I bought plenty of scenery and models after reading a nifty article. Now? I'll be hornswaggled if I pay GW to advertise to me.

To be honest there are a ton of free tutorials on YouTube, here on Warseer and sites like Tale of Painters that there is no need for Gw's sub-standard guides anymore. It just means I go on GW's site less, and and see more ads and tutorials for non-GW figures that I could spend money on.
Never gonna happen.
They are to be used as rationed content for white dwarf and overpriced supplement books until the well runs dry. Sad but true.

I wonder what the UKs soon to be implemented "web archive" will mean for GW? from 2015 IIRC all .co.uk addresses will have a snapshot taken from them of around 10mb which I imagine will happen yearly. Which will then become public record. Though I doubt thats enough to do more than the main page. and a few others.
