Any word on the DE bomber or can we expect that with the wave of fliers that looks to be coming?
Any word on the DE bomber or can we expect that with the wave of fliers that looks to be coming?
...and this is the problem with people making up rumours, or wishlisting going through the internet rumour mill and appearing out the other side as supposed hard fact. I apply large amounts of salt to anything that doesn't come from someone like Harry, Hastings, Stickmonkey etc.
Wouldn't be surprised to see some surprises popping up seeing the anniversary of 40K. Well to be honest I'm secretly hoping for something unexpected to happen and knock us all of our socks![]()
The only real unnatural act is one which you cannot perform.
So, the previous 40k wave thread was called FEB NID-CRONS, but from Harry's post above it sounds more like these will be two separate waves:
Originally Harry was saying Necrons 2nd wave would come out immediately after the VC, but the LOTR release got in the way of that. So, does that mean Necrons 2nd wave in March then WFB in April (probably Empire), so waiting until May for the long-promised Nids and Space Wolves? Oh cruel fate!
We also haven't heard anything about the Imperial Guard wave that was previously rumoured to be coming out early this year, comprising a plastic Hydra, Manticore/Griffon/Colossus and Storm Troopers. Has this rumour actually been given any credence?
As the new 40k rulebook is coming out June/July there are only 2 40k release slots before then, so it seems unlikely that the Dark Angels Codex will creep in before then as BoK suggested.
could be March: SW, Nid, Crons
May: DA
But I doubt about DA...... just have the feeling we are trying to stuff too much things in a handful of months. But I hope I'm wrong![]()
I keep wondering why the DA rumors keep popping up. Aside from TastyTaste's BoK rumors, has anyone reliable confirmed this? I'm noticing that the more reliable types are happy to say that DA and Chaos will be in the starter set, and that we'll see the Chaos Codex this year, but are specifically mum on the DA Codex release. Makes me think they're still some ways off from seeing a new book.
From when I first heard about it to now it seems the information I was given was misunderstood or miscommunicated to me. All indications are they are done, sprue designs ready to go, but that no packaging has been seen. If what I'm being told now is correct, its a ways off. Right now, my expectation is that it will come in a combined release month, but i dont have any new information as to when.
That's TastyTaste for you. I've not given him much weight since his DE rumors never panned out. Anything he has posted has been a regurgitation of existing rumors, sprinkled with random stuff to give it the feel of something new.
The only because DA are in the starter set would I believe they are sooner then later. But based on the rumor flow; I would be surprised to see DA come out the first half of 2012 or 2012 for that matter. Eldar or Tau seem more likely to come after Chaos if not before 6th.
Harry suggested that if such a wave was to come it would be over a year out so we're still talking about a bit of a wait. I think he then followed it up with some speculation about an expansion, but it was just speculation, not a rumor.
In other words don't expect a Fighta Bomba or SMurf flyer in 2012. At least that's my interpretation of SM's rumor + Harry's response. The last thing I want to see are a bunch of sad green faces moping about because their flyer didn't arrive this summer.
Also, to my knowledge Tasty was the first to announce that the Sister's dex would be in WD. That was a pretty big deal at the time. As for the boxed set... who knows. Tasty previously indicated it would be Eldar Vs Chaos and Hastings indicated that false rumor originated with him providing misinformation to leak test.

If DA are in the starter set, they'll be getting a release relatively soon. That and they are a marine book, so easy to update really. Though I have noticed the lack of news from reliable sources on it. They haven't confirmed nor denied it coming out. You ever stop to think perhaps they don't wish to spill the beans too early ? If they get their info from insiders they could be playing it close to their chest so as to not give negative backlash to whom they get their info from.
They have never truely been lax in shooting down what they considerd a bogus bit of information from what I've seen. So them not agreeing or denying it coming, speaks volumes to me. Now that could be wrong, but rumors are not an exact thing, thats why they are rumors.
As a side note, thanks very much to any and all whom do share with us what rumors ya have, they are appreciated and to some of us, help give us a bigger picture or the comings and goings of the hobby we all share.
Hard pressed on my right; my left is in retreat. My center is yielding. Impossible to maneuvre. Situation excellent. I am attacking. - General Ferdinand Foch to General Joseph Joffre during The Battle of the Marne, 1914.
I was waiting for this wave before attacking my SL for some serious painting and modelling upgrades... but I'm beginning to think that it won't be coming any time soon. It kind of depends on how far away an new guard 'dex is. GW has to keep models in reserve for codex upgrades, because releasing a book, without models just doesn't fly. If a new guard codex is expected in the next 2 years, I'd be expecting them to be holding back on any new models until then. I'd expect a Hydra/Griffon combo box (light artillery), and then an Heavy Artillery Combo box.
Harry already stated that Codex: Dark Angels was just being started, meaning it surly won't be out in May, and is a ways off. Going by that, end of the year, early next year at the earliest, and likely a bit after that, as he also has Eldar and Tau guess-timated to be out around that time too. The order of the releases is anybody's guess. It certainly would be very odd if GW didn't pop out another codex in the first half of 2012 though, so who knows what will squirm out next. Could be Sisters of Battle, though that would be a pretty tight lid on said project for at least some of the folks here to not have heard about it. Lots of guess work at this point for what will come out in the second quarter of 2012.

Though I tend to agree that prior to 6th is too soon for it given what we know. My guess is 6th drops, Chaos get their codex followed by Dark Angels at a later date (perhaps December or early 2013). I personally think no more codices before 6th is kind of nice in a way, no one wants to be the codex that drops a month or two before the new edition. Necrons were released well in advance and so wont have that "last codex of the edition" feel to them.
Now lets see if they can go through 6th and get everyone updated to being only one edition behind at most this time.![]()
I'd agree with that, particularly since Jervis indicated way back in 2010 at Games Day that initial work had just started on the DA. That implies to me that they're probably closer to being done than not, especially if they are in the starter set. So I'd guess that they will be released, at the earliest, in the latter half of this year or very early on next year.
I guess a lot depends on whether the models panned out acceptably, whether the rules work well enough with the new edition and so on.
Juts my tuppence to throw in there.
If we are very lucky, we might get confirmation on that from one of Warseer's eminent rumourmasters (kind of like a Grandmaster, but more vague).
.....to be fair his Necron stuff was pretty damn accurate, enough that his misses could easily have been put down to chinese whispers or info based of a play test copy. There was no regurgitation going on there. Indeed now it really makes me chuckle that we had people who flat out wouldn't accept the info from BoK because it was from BoK instead they went with the "safer" more conservative rumours that ghost21 had been putting forth......none of which panned out while save for minor inacuracies pretty much everything BoK posted concerning Necrons was accurate...
Sorry no GW I will not pay twice the $$$ to buy from retail stores in Australia and no amount of adds to the hobby, support you FLGS bulldung is going to change the fact your charging twice as much.
I would guess that the earliest we would see a DA release would be the latter half of this year, after the 6th edition release. Jervis told me that the DA were just beginning to be looked at way back in 2010 at the UK Games Day, but that really was limited to looking at the background, etc. at that point. So the 'in progress' rumour at the moment could be anything. Perhaps it's model production or maybe they are tweaking the rules to fit in with 6th. Who knows?
Also see below quote from Gav Thorpe's Blog from around 11th January:
"As I have mentioned before, scheduling issues mean that I can’t do both the Vampire Wars and my forthcoming Dark Angels series, and so the Vamps have been put back. The Dark Angels series is now officially called Legacy of Caliban, the first title of which will be Ravenwing. Not sure on publication date yet, I am sure it will be announced soon. All I have to do now is come up with the actual story. Er…"
Not sure if the Black Library focus on a space marine chapter is much to go on for the codex release but sometimes the two get timed reasonably close together. Hope all the Dark Angel stuff gets released this year. GW could make this into something huge.

Given that Mr Thorpe just finished writing Path of the Outcast which isn't out until september, the chances of the as yet unwritten and plotless DA novel being out this year to coincide with a DA codex is slim to none. Which says either there isn't a DA book this year or BL/GW releases don't coincide.
