Yes, The fall of Daminos was relised just before the Necron codex came out. There have been others, but I can't remember them at the moment.
But there have also been enough releases that weren't coincided with actual releases.
We both read the rumour, day and night,

Aye, what I'm wondering is, are any joint releases of models/codexes en Black Library better attributed to coincidence than trying to confer some model/codex release schedule from it like people are doing currently?
I don't think it's a statistically significant correlation. That won't stop people from making guesses based on it, though - this is a rumors forum after all

Point taken. The first book "Ravenwing" is down as January 2013, and certainly hope the DA codex is well before this. I would hope GW capitalise on this in some way though either with the Dark Angels codex having been out before this or shortly after. Probably worth not reading too much into it.

Orks were the codex right before 5th, and SM the first. In fantasy, Dwarfs were the last 6th ed book, OnG one of the first. Skaven were the one of the last 7th ed books, cause I don't think GW was foolish enough to make on of the race Beastmen. High Elves are the odd man out here, but I definitely think there is a trend.

Ravenwing could be a "showoff book" for Dark Angels. Look at both Fire Drake and the Second Sisters of battle book. Both had a large focus on the new Dark eldar and Necron units respectively. The lead time for a Jan 2013 release means that Ravenwing can capitalize on any early to mid 2012 Dark Angels release, and show off new units and characters.

Correct, that year it was Orks, Daemons, 5th ed, SM.. in that order.
Yup, Daemons are the oft forgotten last codex of 4th. But either way the starter armies (save for the High Elves) tend to be armies that received recent updates (within ~6 months). This has a lot to do, most likely, with being able to mitigate the impact of FAQ/Errata on starter box forces and so that starter sales drive up the sales of whichever faction is coming up after release. The big question is still, if the DA are getting an update (and a lot of signs are pointing to yes in the last few days) whether it will be in the Spring (I still think this isn't likely) or if it comes some time after the 6th edition release (Q4 2012 or Q1 2013), since signs are pointing to Chaos being the first 6th edition codex out the gate.
The other possibility, of course, is Chaos is a Spring release prior to 6th and DA get the post 6th Edition slot. Pre-edition switch rules are often written in such a way as to work with the new edition with minimal fuss (Orks did this rather well in the transition) and it could still be a 6th-edition style hard cover release. The only tricky bit with this theory is that it leaves me wondering if Harry meant that it would be the first 6th edition book in style (i.e. rules content and hard cover) or in the more temporal sense (i.e. it comes out after 6th edition). This is somewhat mitigated by his release date prediction chart have a margin of error that could put Chaos either before or after of course so this may still be a safe bet.
It would also fit with the way it happened in 5th Edition where the antoagonist faction came out prior to the edition switch (but was written with the next edition in mind) while the protagonist faction is the release just after.
But between the BoK/TastyTaste rumours, Harry confirming that it is in development (and that BT are not on the near horizon), the almost assured presence in the starter box, the recent monkeying about with the website and the assertion that the DA codex was being worked on back in 2010 (from JJ no less) I think it may be a safe bet that sometime between now and Q1 2013 we will see the Dark Angels drop. The big question is, of course, when.

The thing with Daemons that people seem to overlook though is that the 40k Codex was piggybacked on the Fantasy Army release I mean aside from the Codex book itself and the 1 plastic kit to represent the 1 40k specific unit in the Codex it was a Fantasy Army Book release month that GW just capitalized on.
Sorry no GW I will not pay twice the $$$ to buy from retail stores in Australia and no amount of adds to the hobby, support you FLGS bulldung is going to change the fact your charging twice as much.

I've been told the following:
- no BT in the near future
- DA are "in progress"
- Eldar and Tau are being worked on, with Eldar further along than Tau
It's quiet easy. "Being worked on obviously means that a team or singular writer is writing the book as we speak. It in mid-production. In progress probably means the bookis almost finished or already done, and the accompanyig work is being done: Layout, packing the Boxes, preparing promotional Posters etc.

Don't you mean that "apart from getting one kit less the fantasy armybook was piggybacked on the 40K codex"? The fact that the fantasy army ended up more powerful or popular or whatever doesn't change the fact that the fantasy side didn't receive anything the 40k side didn't also get.

That was from me on the previous page. I spoke to Jervis at the UK 2010 Games Day when he told me that they were doing some of the prep work on the book. He was keen to point out at the same time that that didn't mean the release was imminent, nor that it was guaranteed. So really all that tells us is that it was beginning to be looked at back then. We have to be careful not to read too much into it because sometimes GW run up against problems with the models or the books that push back or prevent a release. As to BL novels, haven't they released tie in novels/novellas with the big box releases in recent years? If that's the case then I imagine there might be a release for 6th but that the writer has been asked to keep things quiet.
Also a Chaos Spring release would make sense, since the starter set is rumored to have renegade cultists in it, yet there are currently no pre-existing rules for them.
