I'm not sure whether to be impressed with the general people of warseer for it being 6 pages of postings before someone focused on her looks, or disappointed that its been mentioned at all. Just sayin, its the kind of thing that can put people off in general...

Anyways... thanks for the pictures, there looking good. Might be an idea to invest in some tamiya sand paper so you can clean up the branches better. It'll cost less then £3 from your local model zone, cut a strip off and work it in between the branches to clean the mold lines. Its a fair bit of extra work, but it pays off - especially if your not planning on covering them up. Oh and try Malifaux next if theres a big enough local scene. Less focus on building an army and more focus on painting well and playing which can't be a bad thing.

You certainly have a way with words.

Just sayin, it's also the kind of thing that can put people off in general.

Edit: Sorry for being off-topic, I just felt the need to say it.

Yup, fair enough - I did reword the latter a couple of times but I couldn't think of a better way of saying it. Maybe its because no one comes into my project logs saying I'm hot As for the part with videos... yeah, its a little sharp. My point was more of wanting to give feedback, wanting to help, but also not wanting to invest half an hour of time. No offence was intended at all.

I must protest... the the pics in your plogs only show your hand, at most.

    Alright alright, I'll say it.

    Your hand is hot.

Now that is the strangest thing I've said in years.

Back on topic: perhaps a mix of pics and vids will help to satisfy everyone who reads this thread. But that's entirely up to you, Joey.

No offence was taken by me- I get your point this is after all a blog/plog/vlog about my warhammer experience but opinions on other things are bound to pop up. It's been nicer than some of the other feed back I've received on my sudden appearance to the warhammer scene. The internet can be harsh, I'll take the good with the bad and keep going though

I will try to include more pictures as well: I can appreciate that the longer videos can be a bit boring and not something that will fill you in immediately on the progress if you don't have the time. That being said I do have a new video of my Empire battle report :P The long and short of it is... I lost... I lost a lot. Two steam tanks, 2 great canons amongst other nastiness. I only got points for a great canon (that blew it self up) and a pegasus captain that I killed- he wiped out everything else. Not to worry though! I won my next battle

Nice report! That is a pretty tough list and bad matchup for WE if you can't hide your treemen as they advance.

Very funny, personally prefer Walker's salt & vinegar (can't get it over here). Generally it is good to see you take it all with a huge amount of humour.

I am looking forward to your report of Malifaux.

Oh, and the Treeman/pegasus bit was a tad nasty.

Drycha number 1! I have another I'm going to paint up very differently. This one is ok but maybe a little boring. Any suggestions on a colour scheme for the other?

That's a little clearer of some of the vines and colour difference. Yeah I agree about the darker main colour.

Re: --=== Joey's Wood Elf Army Documentary ===--

Enjoyed your creative and well made videos, Joey. While attending grad school at the University of Nottingham I happened upon Warhammer World. Drawn there by the very same love of Tolkien and Elves. Like you, I too identified more with the woodland Elves. That said, our poor Wood Elves suffer from an ancient codex and are one of the most difficult armies to start with. Partly because of the lack of troop/character/item/magic choices, but also because most units are fragile and therefore, prone to dying from mistakes. Not to discourage, because Wood Elves can do well with some time and effort applied. Here's hoping Games Workshop revising them soon. You'll get much better army building and battle advice from others on this forum, so I'll leave it at "Godspeed to you and your Wood Elf army!"

One bit of advice I can give regards to painting. While it is true you have have skill from donning makeup everyday, there as some important things I can suggest:
    1. Acrylic paints need watering and layering to work well. All beginners and even long time painters (like myself) find it quite easy to get excited by the prospect of finishing their beautiful models. They then use paint straight from the tube, or just add a small bit of water. However, to bring out vibrant shading, lifelike skin or bark, and nearly anything else, you'll need to water down your paints to around the same consistency of milk and do many layers varying colors of the thin layers to blend. This effect works best when the painted area is still damp.
    2. Shading is not _____ color + black = shading. Highlighting is not ________ color + white. To achieve better results use watered down complimentary colors. Here's an online color wheel http://colorschemedesigner.com/, give it a spin couldn't resist that pun. So, to give red a darker more powerful shadow use green. As you can see, if the red varies between more or an orange-red the green to shade will be different than a purple-red.
    3. Get some wine corks, a straightened paperclip, and some blu tack. Put the blu tack on one end of the paper clip, cork on the other. Attach parts of your model on the blu tack and paint them separately. It makes getting details and painting all areas of your model easier. I can tell you care about such things.
    4. Dry brushing can be done with any sized brush. If you're dry brushing a sword or bow, don't use a large brush which dry brushes half of the model.

    Question:
I do hope that helps. Which part of the UK do you hail from?

    Kind regards, ~B.

Nice models, your bases are really cool. I was looking at your tournament videos and you said you wanted a combat army so you took a highborn, but i personally find a level 4 life mage helps improves my trees combat prowess a lot more. Flesh to Stone is amazing on most wood elf units, especially treekin. Two tanks would barely scratch your treekin if they were T7/9. Life heals your treemen with every spell you cast too. I nearly always take a naked level 4 and an ancient with nettlings at 2400. Do you put the flaming attacks banner on your glade guard? Always good for hydras.

Also that net spell, its a strength test to move, D6 str 4 if you fail it. So the odds are still in the guys favour to charge.

The green on the vines needs a bit of a highlight. Just a touch of a lighter green, Goblin Green perhaps, would really make it pop. Other than that, the model looks really nice.

    Hey Joey,

Just found this log the other day and I have to say its blogs like this (not that I ever come across a warhammer blog quite like this one!) that made me sign up for warseer in the first place. As I work through your old videos (Im up to 12 atm) I find them fun and inspiring, one of the few threads which when I stop I want to play/model/paint warhammer more than when I logged on!

I hope by the time I get to your most recent videos your still just as enthusiastic as you were back in video 12 with your win over the HE.

Oh and your models look brilliant and keep getting better.

P.S the Sir Digby Chicken Caesar reference when you filmed yourself "Buildin' Treekin" had me laughing my head off!
