    It would help people if they read "Dark Adeptus" to see what i'm trying to get at. The book focuses on some amazing imagry and settings. Yes, a dark-magos could be extremist in the hording of knowledge but the book explains why the ad-mech take ages to invent new things.

    Techpriests aren't qualified enough to build whole new bits of tech, although they are dedicated to the machine god they aren't totally self sufficient and will still rely on support from the Admech. I'm sure there are still Heretic era admech building nefarious gubbinz in the Eye of terror.

    I have read Dark Adeptus (being a fan of the shiney armoured ones ) and I see where your thoughts are going.

    I certainly like where Mato is going with those ad-mechs...

    quick thought: For "Data-daemons" one could easily use the Wood Elf Dryad range...

    actually I think I saw a conversion of an unbound daemon using the dryads, it looked pretty good.

    Yep, I think it was in the "Nemesis" article in WD. I think it would look pretty cool.

    Ok How about this.
    Heretic Skitarii-- ws bs s t w i a ld sv
    Legionnaire:----- 4 . 4 3 3 1 3 1 8 4+
    Veteran Warrior:- 4 . 4 3 3 1 3 2 8 4+

    Weapons: Hellguns w/targeters, Frag Grenades

    Options: For +12 points a Legionnaire may be upgraded to a Veteran. Veterans may roll on the Augmentation chart below for a cost of 5 points. They may exchange their Hellguns for a hell pistol and close combat weapon at no extra cost. The squad may purchase a maximum of 2 gunservitors at 10 points each. The gunservitor is armed with a Hellgun as standard. They may upgrade their hellguns to Heavy bolters for 15 points, a heavy flamer for 20 points or a daemon cannon (think inverse psycannon!) for 30 points

    Augmentation. Roll a D6 on the table below prior to each battle to determine veteran augmentation.
    1-2 enhanced targeters: +1 BS
    3-4 extensive augment: +1 W
    5-6 enhanced bionics: +1 WS

    These guys are a hair better than IG Stormtroopers, so 11pts/model?
    5-10 models/squad?
    Why not allow the Combat Servitor as well? =][=s get the Combat Servitor, Multimelta ones, Heavy Bolter ones, and the odd Plasma Cannon one.

    Is this an Elites choice or a limited Troops choice? 2 BS4 Heavy weapons is a bit generous for a Troops choice, but I like the concept here.

    I don't think the Vet's upgrade should be random. It's not like the DM guys grafted something onto their long-time minion the night before the battle. Those upgrades belong in the Armory, much like Daemonic Gifts in the Chaos 'dex.

    EDIT: I'd still like to suggest the LatD Mutants entry be refluffed as an augmented minions entry. The various choices would easily represent DM tinkering and the increased Toughness and Attacks in the base statline fit nicely for our cyborgs.

    Armor bonuses could be added plating, Daemonic skin, or Tyranid exoskeleton, Strength bonuses could be bionic arms, Ork Arms, or just plain Daemonic Strength, -1 to enemy Ld might need replaced, and moving as cavalry could be steeds, bikes, a treaded replacement for ones lower body, centaur-like reconstruction, or even just having Daemonic Speed.

    This is an entry where I'd say you can give your unit your faavorite type of modification, gaining a fleshcraft, cyborg, or daemontouched element as you please.

    For the gun sevitors I figured we should just use the standard =I= servitor stats. I don't see why we couldn't add CC servitors aswell.

    This fleshcraft business sounds alot like the remade from China Miévilles bas lag books, check the link for more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remade.
    In the books Thaumaturges use clayflesh hexes to manipulate flesh and bond it to all manner of things. Very Gruesome!

    Re: << Dark Mechanicus >>

    I'd like to add a new discipline for the Magos, if possible;

    "Technomancy"(the name needs work ), the use of Warp energy or Daemonic entities to animate deceased or vat-grown flesh, or to power the mechanical implants which allow such animation to take place.

    If a Magos were to take the Tecnomancy Discipline, the FOC would change to introduce more hybrid units(flesh + machine + daemon), with little middle ground between them(ie, you would have Daemon-possessed super-soldiers at one end and mindless, warp-powered servitor-equivalents at the other.

    Also, it might be an idea to try "sub-Doctrines", where the Magos selects one Doctrine and one sub-Doctrine, with the first significantly altering the makeup of the force, and the second granting a small benefit or access to a new unit or the like.

    For example, you could have;

    "Forgemaster" - The Magos is overlord of an immense Daemonic forgeworld, and commands some of the most bizzarre daemon engines in existance. May elect to sacrifice 2 FA and 1 Elite in exchange for an additional HS slot.

    "Slavemaster" - The Magos enjoys less favour than some with his lords and masters, and is forced to resort to use unskilled Slave Labour in his factorums. May select various Slave units(cheap troops, slave-pulled gun batteries, slave-carried siege equipment and so on) and biomek Slavemasters to control them(optional 0-5 HQ choice, assigned to Slave squads to boost normally abysmal leadership, perhaps with Commissar-like ability of Execution?).

    "Favoured" - The Magos enjoys a close relationship with one of the Traitor Legions. May select CSM allies in the same manner as LatD.

    Anywho, thanks to Udun for pointing me this way, this should be fun, although I dont know how often Ill be able to pop in

    Re: << Dark Mechanicus >>

    I like the new Technomancy idea.
    I was thinking that in the units of Heretic-Skitarii, you could have the option of including a heavy-weapons servitor, perhaps 1 per unit. Kind of give it that "combined" arms feel.

    Instead of hellguns I'd like to see something like this:

    "Warp-rifle*(to be renamed) Rng 24 Str 3 AP 6

    Special rules: "Alternate fire mode". The entire unit may choose to switch firemodes turning the weapon into str 4 ap6 however is now subject to the "gets hot" rule.

    I think it gives the unit more of an "Experimental chaotic" feel to it.

    i really at last think they shouldn't be called heretic skitarii as skitarii aren't in themselves heretics they r just droids that obey commands so perhaps just skitarii

    Skitarii are not "droids", they are humans with basic bionic augmentation(occular targeting implants, battlefield injury replacements, internal vox systems), somewhere between Guardsmen and Storm Troopers in ability. They are organised in the same way as the Imperial Guard, with some minor differences in the chain of command and multi-regiment formations.

    An additional idea regarding their "Doctrines" system;

    Aspects. No, not poncy pointy-eared hippies(), a tiered selection system for Doctrines.

    First you select the Aspect of your army. For example, you would have Chaotica, who worship the Omnissiah in the Aspect of Chaos Undivided, the Draconis, who worship the Omnissiah in the Aspect of the Void Dragon and so on, perhaps one or two more "minor" Aspects, and which you select would give the inital force org chart and define any allies which could be taken. You then select the force's Doctrine, ie, the Magos' specialities and eccentricities, which would determine any force organisation changes. Finally, you could select a sub-Doctrine, which would add a special rule to units or grant access to a certain type of unit, really exotic 0-1 choices with whacky abilities.

    So, for example;

    Sect: Chaotica - Worships Chaos Undivided and The Warp. May take Chaos Space Marine allies in the same manner as LatD.
    Doctrine: Slavemaster - The Magos makes extensive use of captured Slave Labour, bought from the Traitor Legions in exchange for technology. Loses one Elite slot, gains one Troop slot. Limit on number of Slave units lifted(say there are three types of Slave squad, all previously 0-1, now only limited by force org).
    Sub Doctrine: Hunter-Slavers - May select up to three "Hunter-Slaver" class servitors as a single HQ choice. Each Hunter-Slaver must be attached to a unit of Slaves.

    The above would be radically different to a Draconis sect, and even other Chaotica sects with different Doctrine choices.

    Re: << Dark Mechanicus >>

    Lets try to keep away from aligning the dark mechanicus too much with chaos. Remember, DM isn't bound by the same bureacracy that the Admechs are and therefore progression transpires at an unbridled rate. Sure there is going to be chaotic influences but not to the degree as that of LaTD. I encourage people to read the book Dark Adeptus for a better understanding.

    As of now we have configured the DM as follows: The player may choose either a Fleshcraft Magos or WarpCraft Magos. This will influence elements in the army allowing different variations and perhaps allow access to mutually exclusive units. Perhaps a Fleshcraft army allows for the usage of some kind of bio-form which the Warpcraft army cannot.

    Re: << Dark Mechanicus >>

    *attempting to see this army without having read book*

    *we have a mechanicus cult, with no real restriction on what they can create

    *it would be an evil army, yes, but an army with only very slight influence from chaos. so we have dark evil looking techmarines types, bearing 'blasphemous' symbols, but not brandishing chaos insignia on its every item.

    *no real relatance to chaos, so no chaos space marines or lost and the dammed (do have daemons tho)

    *warmachines (all vehicles/walkers etc) would look dark and twisted to the imperiums eyes, but would not be outright chaos (spikes everywhere, SPIKES!! )

    am i right, or have i widely missed the mark?

    EDIT:warpform and bioform stuff sound good to me
