    The Raven Has Landed (Empire)

    Hello everyone,

and welcome to my project log. I'm an avid reader of this forum, so I thought I'd make a little contribution of my own. Some of you might remember the thread I started last Saturday, which got so heavily edited (and boringly named) that I decided to start a new one. The subject of this log is my Empire army, which is neither assembled, nor painted. My progress is slow, so I might post updates on a rather irregular basis. Bear with me! First off is the centrepiece of my army, a wizard lord by the name of Corvinus. I've taken a picture of the model, using my sister's mobile phone. I hope you don't mind the quality.

And you will! It's going to take a while, though, as I'm trying to get the regular troops painted first.

It's time for another update. Below is my Battle Standard Bearer, and a Knight equipped with a Great Weapon.

already a big fan, love your standard bearers base and positioning, very tempted to make a unit of great weapon knights to jazz up the empire knight models a bit

Can't wait to see some of your stuff painted, always a fan of another Empire log, what colours you thinking you're going to go for? If conversions carry on like this i'm totally subscribed

Thanks mate. I'm going for green uniforms, black leather, and rather non-shiny metal. You'll see!

Is that a Outrider body and horse with great sword arms?

    Well, let's follow this!

Yep, the Greatsword arms fit nicely with the Outrider torsos. I need green stuff to make it work, but that's because my Knights hold their swords in a slightly different angle than Greatswords do.

Re: The Raven Has Landed (Empire)

I probably should have written this in the first post, but I'm telling you now: My army is supposed to be from the poor, rustic state of Stirland. Consequently, when I started out on my detachment of militia fighters, I decided to make them more peasant-like and less pirate-like. This meant no shiny guns, no coats and no pirate hats with eyepatches. This is what I came up with.

    The detachment as a whole.

A grim-faced fighter who supposedly enjoys burning witches on his spare time (after hitting them with his bar).

    Another fighter...

    ...and his mate.

Finally, a fighter who supposedly uses his crossbow as a hand weapon.

    I hope you like it!

Great looking militia there dude! I like how you've been using different heads for them, they really do have a good rag-tag feel to them! My own militia is going to be slightly more comedic, being drunk Ostlanders and all!

Thank you, rag-tag is just what want them to be. Comedic Ostlanders sounds like a good thing by the way!

Cheers, I only have a few holding bottles right now (and a monkey riding the banner pole) but when I'm a bit more confident in my modelling skills I intend to make a few unit filler vignettes using the regiment bases.

YOur bases looks quite promising, but like that I can't tell what it is that you wanted to represent on them. Can you enlighten me?

Superdan is right, I'm going for a rocky wasteland sort of thing. There'll be a lot of sand, painted in earth-like colours - Charadon Granite and Dheneb Stone. With all the green stuff I've thrown in, I hope the slopes will look acceptably natural. Thanks for your interest by the way.
(Oh and Superdan, my fighters are not carrying a pencil! It's a stake, and it's very dangerous.)

Cool looking bases and militia. Really enjoy that You have considered Stirland as a poor land, what is exactly as it should be
    Waiting to see them painted

    Thank you!
It's time for an update. First off, a rather Sigmar-oriented standard bearer.

    Then, a halberdier detachment.

    Finally, a not-quite-finished War Altar.

I like what you did with the Halberdiers, cutting off the feathers on the pistolier heads really does neaten them up quite a bit!
