Hello Dear Warseerers,
After more than 10 years playing Fantasy I wanted to start with a 40K army.
Just to move away a little bit from the massive 3000 pts armyīs with Big Monsters and a lot of Wizards, sorcerers etc. to play a different type of game with the opportunity to build an entire new force.
8 years ago I already bought a Steel Legions HQ (for the looks) and painted it with the intention to start a IG army.
It never happened. Although I played a few 40K battles with a borrowed army.
The Forge World Death Korps of Krieg models speak to me incredible. Beautifully detailed and designed they allow me to put together a really stunning army.
Browsing through the Plogs on this forum I found the plogs of “doubleT” and “Ash” both superb artists with beautiful DkoK armies which inspired me greatly. Both have such high quality painted DKoK armies that I want to start to build my own 231st Regiment Death Korps of Krieg.
Through Ebay I could buy some models I've used as a test for my colour scheme.
Since I did not want to have grey uniforms, I was browsing through the Imperial Armour V5 and I found the colour schemes of the 261st Regiment.
This colour combination is also more or less used by Mark Bedford in his model diorama in the Imperial Armour Model Master class book.
Based on these examples, I have painted a test model of a Heavy Weapons squad with a Lascannon. And a Lemanrus. In this way I could test the uniforms and the weaponry and tanks in one go.
Iīm intend to use the green for all the metal Works in the army combined with the Brown colors for fabrics and leathers.
Iīm also thinking to steel doubleTīs idea to use wood on the hand weapons. (not painted yet)
The Basing will be not muddy. I like to place my models in-between the massive thunderstorms of Krieg. Allowing the flood of water to run away fast through the volcanic ground and ditches.
The dust and dirt does have the sulphur yellowish colour. (not showing that nice in the photoīs)
The volcanic rocks are almost black.
I did found this picture and used it as my inspiration.

There are some more than obvious reasons that the progress of putting this army together will follow a slow schedule.
- cost of the FW models
- time
I certainly will not be a plog with weekly updates, but it will come and go with the flow (money and time).
I kindly ask you to have some patience with me and hopefully you are willing to respond and react with comments and or suggestions which are always more than welcome.
