Not sure what is meant by pushed back, but I have heard they are unlikely for next month due to the overhaul of the GW paint line.

Oh yeah...the new paint line (which I already have on the way).
I wonder if that pushes Tyranids and Space Wolves out too. Heaven forbid GW ever pull off multiple releases more than once a year...

Yeah- looking at Harry's quote I'd say Necrons are a planned release for may, April for the new paint line and maybe fantasy, march being Nids. It will have been planned for at least 3 months, so "pushed back" is probably not the best way to put it- "later than we expected" is probably more accurate.
My random painting log- 3/3/2013 now painting winter VC- black knights.

New paint line is coming in March. That is for sure.

Pushed back as in "Not at the end of Febuary" like the current rumors are suggesting. Possibly end of March.
Sorry Darknok, but you forgot that bit.
And I might note: last time I was told this by this source, he was right.
So what the heck am I supposed to use for wraiths???? I got a tournament coming up in April and need 6 of em!!!! They are going for $$$ on ebay, waaaaay too expensive for me.

Sort of. I was going more with Gandalf for the quote though.
In mot cases, releases are planned months ahead, and do not deviate from the schedule. The jumbled rumors we get however make it seem that way, and the way models are produced and then fit into the production schedule Do not always match intended release dates, as we saw with the Daemon Prince.

All that monthly expendable income that GW thrives on will yet again be spent elsewhere, GW's master sales plan at it's finest...

I find that customers habits have evolved quite a bit in a few years. The Necrons models didn't sell that well for us, after inquiring with some customers who were supposed to be interested by the army I realized that quite a decent number of them refused outright to start it until all models were available. We see less and less people buying half of the models they need then waiting for a second wave to finish their army. They buy the Codex, think of an army then wait for all required models to be available to do their first buys.
So I really hope GW won't lure themselves into thinking that a second wave of models will sale well whenever they release it. They better do it before another Codex is released else we will probably see people jumping ship to the new one, never to think about the Necrons again, especially if it's a Marine codex where all models are already available.
Just my two cents, local experience. The more you wait for a second wave, the smaller the number of people interested by the initial release will still be here to buy it.
