that'd be very sad. My 1k necron force really could do with expanding and hence the second wave - along with many others I assume. I don't suppose any light has been shed on June yet?

Yeah GW usually releases "Something" with their hobby releases. Look at the Finecast release last June, and that was a much bigger release but it still blended in with the Dark Eldar release.
What better way to advertise the new paints than some new release to be painted in said new paints?
For that to work you would have to release something that would appeal to the vast majority of fans, and preferably to all systems too. Releasing a few Necron models doesn't really do that. GW would likely be better off releasing some terrain or a another SoM thing or a marine kit. Or as it seems they are doing just talking about how great the new paints are and showing lots of pictures of lots of different models.

Personally, I'm waiting for either the 6th edition rulebook, or the next Eldar Codex, or possibly both before buying anything new from GW (except for greenstuff and the occasional colour). Starting a second 40K army has no appeal to me, and in the meantime I invest heavily in Warmachine. They still tell us what's coming out three months in advance, all their armies get some upgrades once a year, and I don't need a new Codex to make my army competitive (or interesting) again, or new rules because the old ones don't hold up... Actually, to be honest, I'm not sure whether I'm really looking forward that much to 6th edition and the next Codex Eldar at all, anymore...![]()

Pupetswar just released their Wraiths - Cyber Anthropods. Just in time to fill the cold empty hole where GWs Necron wave should have been.

Yeah the wraiths are pretty well done. If I had money and needed wraiths I would totally pick up some. I also really like their take on the necron tomb blades. While I can't say GWs will be bad, the fact they remove the necron warrior and leave it as a fully automated machine just seems better to me.

GW failed big by making us Necron players wait for so long... Oh well, time to go write an order to Puppetswar...
Order. Unity. Obedience.
yeah, but it's not like I'm gonna go out and buy a whole new range of paints, and I doubt others will either. I'm gonna wait until the paints I already have die, and then replace them as time passes, and new customers aren't going to buy a lot, outside of maybe a basic paint set.
If the hobby support product releases affect the model release schedule, that's just plain stupid IMO, from a business pov. They are products that are in constant, but lower demand, that doesn't really have highs and lows, like the model releases.
In the end, if they want to sell that stuff, they need to sell things that people need it for... ie. Models
You won't. Many won't. Some will. Some may only realise they will because the benefits of the new range are promoted so heavily.
Believe it or not, there are some people out there for whom the quality of the paint range is a big deal. Just read the existing thread in GW General Discussion.
Isn't it only fair that this new development, regardless of how much it interests you, be given the spotlight? I imagine new paints affect more people than new miniatures for one or two armies![]()
