Believe it or not, there are some people out there for whom the quality of the paint range is a big deal. Just read the existing thread in GW General Discussion.

Isn't it only fair that this new development, regardless of how much it interests you, be given the spotlight? I imagine new paints affect more people than new miniatures for one or two armies
indeed, but that being said, I'm not going to replace the 40 paints I already have, with new ones until I kill the ones I have already. The new organization does look really cool, and I've been waiting a while for them to do something like this. But I just don't see myself, or many others doing a full overhaul of their paint collection. Clearly some people will, but I don't know if a full month dedicated to promotion is going to change how much people will buy by very much. I think the paint sales will not show much of a bump because of a month of promotion, and will probably continue as normal, as people use up their old product, and phase in the new stuff.

the promotion may have an affect on people who are using competing products, but I don't think there will be a mass rush. Just my opinion.

There's nothing I'm jonesing to come out right now... I'm not waiting for any kind of wave. I'm just into the discussion. I feel for those Necron players though, who are still waiting for another wave.

In all honesty, a full month devoted to it could be more an act of damage mitigation than attempting to encourage people to replace all their paint.

Just looking at the chatter in the aforementioned thread in the leadup to the official reveal of the line, people had lots of concerns about how this will affect their current painting habits. Spending a month educating (or more accurately re-educating) their customers on how to paint with the new line, what paints to use, etc, will help minimise the complaints the red-shirts have to deal with at the coalface. And let's face it, left to their own devices, that would have mixed results at best.

Overall, yes, we all love seeing new miniatures, but taking a month out to revolutionise the paint range and get everyone up to speed on what that means for them is no big deal in the grand scheme of things. I'm sure next month will be all the more exciting for it.

Empire is showing up in april as well. List of new kits and prices over in the Fantasy section. So April is not just paints. May still ought to be Necrons.

Quite so. Not being much of a square-baser, that had passed me by.

Yeah, compared to many 40k fans, WHFB players have kinda been on the ball about this one for a while now. What with all the Empire rumours over the last couple of months and having just had a SW/Nids release, it would've been better to have been sceptical about another 40k release occurring this month.

Why is this thread still open? Necrons are already out, and talk of 2nd wave and new paints are another topic

Telling people to not talk about Necrons second wave in a thread dedicated to the Necrons second wave, that's an interesting concept...

The thread title and opening post don't really make that obvious though, hence the confusion.

Only if someone does not read the thread at all before posting to it as though they were in charge of it. I will say, though, that all the paint talk should be going on elsewhere.

    Re: Necrons pushed back?

I will say that the thread is woefully off topic and no further discussion of Necrons being "pushed back" is particularly warrented.

    Thread closed.
