Cell #379, Alpha Legion with some friends!

Well, the tournament I started this log for came and went, and I never got my whole force painted, much to my embarrassment. So now this is just a regular old painting&modelling log over anything and everything I get my hands on(mostly Alpha Legion). Unfortunately I'm an extremely slow painter...

    --------------8<----------- snip snip

Zerker squad 6/8 done(still lacking blood and markings though)

Plasma squad has been started on, but so far they are built at least(I seemed to have forgot to take a picture of one of them, oops)

    Test-painting of some operatives...

...though due to protests they have been "archived" and replaced with more melee oriented operatives instead...

Updates will come...slowly...I'm a horribly slow painter...

Maybe I'll have some time over to repaint my old guys as well:

    We'll see...

    A couple of points:
    1. Looking forward to seeing you at a tournament with a fully painted army
    2. Love the new scheme. Me having a thing for the pre-heresy AL (mine are painted like that), it feels more like the "old" scheme of PH, and not like the more new green-ish you had before. Thumbs up!
    3. The operatives are looking great. I think, however, that you should paint them up in different uniforms, maybe some as civilians and so on. Not very often a squad of them will look similar, in my mind.

And lastly - get painting. I wanna kill your dudes with my AL at the tournament =)

#1: Fully painted? Yeah, right...I'll never have the time to fully paint all this in two weeks! I'll do my best though!
#2: Yeah, I like it a lot more too, and it's going to be easier to paint insignias and markings on them as well!
#3: They will all be in strangely numbered squads if that helps...

You probbaly will obb, you probbaly will...

Finally managed to finish the last two guys in my zerker squad, now I really need to learn how to paint blood and gore! No zerkers without blood and gore!!!

I also need to study Imperial Fists markings, as it just happened to be a fist helm on the base there...totally random...

Man I really am horrible at taking photos...

these are some great looking legionnaires, I like the darker blue scheme you are going with. as for the operatives, I think that they would just as well with lasguns as with CCW&pistol. Maybe just bitz them out a bit?
And let the music of the swords make them crimson!
Hell grant soon we hear again the swords clash!
Hell blot black for always the thought "Peace!"

As I said at the story to other day, I agree with agurus1 - the ops can have both lasguns and CCW&pistol. I still think you should do them in different uniforms tho. Just small changes, like different camo on the pants, or a different colour of the armour.

And for the painting - keep at it. Your guys look great, you just need to speed it up a bit. Buy a large brush

Re: Cell #379, from Ghorstangrad with love...

Well, in the end I managed to get my vehicles half-painted for the tournament but nothing more...embarrassing!

So now my motivation is high for painting my army, I need it painted!

Strangely enough, the first thing I did was to build a replacement for the lash sorcerer, who performed awfully during the tournament!

    Chaos lord/counts-as Khârn:

Although I built both him and the 10-man plasma squad out of spare parts from my bitz-box, it doesn't seem to be much emptier...

Re: Cell #379, from Ghorstangrad with love...

I should paint...but I got so many spare parts lying around everywhere...

I felt the urge to give the Thousand Sons a bit of a revenge over the Space Wolf bases, and at the same time I figured I could use up some spare parts I have lying around...

I found one of my old 2nd ed Thousand Sons conversions and gave him new arms and backpack.

But what is a TS sorcerer without rubrics?

NICE! The old armour fits them like a charm. Looking forward to seeing this painted (as well as the rest of the guys).

A click of paint on a rubric marine:

...it's a bit more "goldy" in real life...I still suck at taking pictures...

Oh yes he will, a little revenge for the TS on the new pups bases!

    Progress...slowly but surely...

[Edit]: Oh, and here are the last two guys in the squad:

I love the use of the Mk III (is that right?) on the rubrics. Fits them nicely. And painting looks good, as always. Looking forward to seeing them in action soon.

I like the blue/green of the armor. Any chance of sharing the Recipe?

It's necron abyss, regal blue, enchanted blue, hawk turquoise and goblin green gradually drubrushed on.

Finally Thousand Son #1 is done...

Only four more to go! :P
