    Moving to South Korea

After giving it a lot of thought I have decided that the best option for my future (and health) is to move countries and I have decided on giving South Korea a try. But first I need some help and when in doubt ask Warseer.

    1) I have the great option of moving to Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Daegu or Daejeon what I want to know is has anyone had any experience with any of these citites.

    2) What is the gaming scene like in South Korea.

    3) Any other general information would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a good Korea move...

Since you are asking it would be more useful if you offer more information on your backgrounds. For example what languages do you speak beside English, what is your job/profession, would you be going on your own or relocating within a company etc.

    Right you are!

I speak English and Afrikaans which would be useless anywhere outside of South Africa.

As for the work I will be an English teacher for the Teach Korea government program.

Well if you are fairly young and open-minded I say go for it! There is no harm and if you don't like it you can always come back after a while.

There is really no point learning Korean before hand (apart from learning the basics), you will pick it up a lot quickly when you are there and using it daily.

Also you probably know they like to sit on the floor with cushions when eating in traditional restaurants. That is the only thing my friend didn't like when he was working there.

I do plan on doing the basics for now I know that trying anything else will be pointless.

As for the culture shock, I live in Africa and I am pretty used to seeing and doing new things outside the "Western" norm.

Behold as I resurrect this thread.

This isn't directly related, but you will experience culture shock no matter what prior experiences you have. Culture shock is the result of many factors, which aren't all purely related to culture. Prepare for 1-3 weeks of elation followed by 1-3 weeks of depression followed by 1-3 weeks of settling in. The process generally takes about 3 weeks (which is why it's reccomended that any major trips one might take should be should optimally last at least 1 month so you get to experience it as the "real you".

Now more on topic: in Korea there is no gaming, there is only Starcraft.

In Seoul there is a good gaming scene. I just moved to Korea 6 months ago, There is a gaming store that sells GW stuff, and currently part of a club in Korea called Dice God. Our facebook page is www.facebook.com/dicegod.
