Length/width/height proportion does not seem correct for 100x150mm. I would put my money on chariot base or 60x100mm (aka Screaming Bell base).

Also remember ranks and step up, supporting attacks all contribute to the combat and so the models are participating. Terminology in this case matters.

I'm very impressed, although whoever mentioned Randall from Monsters Inc. has permanently affected my vision of this thing. Can't wait to see people's painted versions, I bet we see some crazy colors.
I'm surprised people are voicing concerns about its leadership, since it's cold blooded. I haven't had much experience with Lizardmen but I guess this isn't as much of a boon as I would think.
I like it! Rules are great and very characterful. Can't wait to face one on the battlefield. Edgar Sockamorowoweewitz is quickly becoming one of my favorite sculptors.
I love the model, and think the rules are pretty sweet. The aura rule could get really mean, especially if you stick it in combat against a horde of strength 3-4 infantry.
Still, I think the Ettin is better bang for your buck. They are both cool though![]()
"From the fires of betrayal, Unto the blood of revenge, We bring the word of Lorgar, The Bearer of the Word, The favored son of Chaos; All praise be given unto him, For those that would not heed, We offer praise to those that do, That they might turn their gaze our way, And gift us with the boon of pain, To turn the galaxy red with blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods." - Excerpt of the 341st book of the Epistles of Lorgar.

Yeah, it's pretty straightforward as far as I can tell. If they meant "in base contact", they'd say so. If they meant "able to attack the Basilisk", that's what they'd say. In either case, friendly units would very rarely fall under either clause, so there'd be no need to specifically mention that friendly units are equally affected. As far as I know "participating in a combat" isn't explicitly defined anywhere to mean anything in particular, certainly not "able to roll attacks", so we have to take it at face value - if you are in a combat involving a Basilisk, then you are participating in that combat. (Otherwise you have to define when you can be part of a unit that is in combat yet somehow not participating, which seems silly). That means every model in every unit in the same combat as the Basilisk; there's just no other way to read it. I don't see that there's much to debate here really.
It's a cool model, rules are nice. I hope its not too big. I'm not sure its gaze should work on anything that's immune to psychology much less something thats undead. I can't picture my wight king being like "oh no its looking into my eyes and making my skin blister"
Apparently, the basilisk doesn't require eye contact. It's gaze is like Superman's heat ray and just locks on to its target. If the basilisk has enough time to stare without obstruction, the magical glare can destroy the bones of the undead. Its magic makes as much sense as animated dead being able to "see." It is inexplicable magic on both fronts.

Skeletons can't see, that's probably why their WS is so low. Wights see cause their soul is bound to their body. They're basically a construct moved by a spirit.
EDIT: Correction, skeletons have some kind of spirit attached to their body according to harry the hammers fluff and probably other undead fluff I can't remember right now.

...because a warhammer turn represents exactly how much time? We've put up with magic missiles shooting a bunch of troops around a corner just because the shooter can see one of the unit, put up with characters being able to shrug off a shot to the head with a pistol becasue 'they have more than one wound', put up with cannons being able to ping pong off the crew of a Stegadon after hitting him... All these stupid abstractions and more, we put up with in this game. As long as it's a workable rule, I say just put up with . Life's too short to waste time worrying about something you can't chage...

Curses! You found me!
Well, it only targets one model and you can use a ward save against it soooooo, yeah not too OP. Just a really *********** good character assassin.
Its gaze is ridiculously underpowered compared to its aura ability, so he really shouldn't be out of combat enough to use it all that often. If you're not charging that guy into hordes you're doing it wrong.
That looks awesome!
You mean the 18" attack you still need to roll to hit for with BS4, which then gives you a 1 in 6 chance of killing the character? So if you use it every turn, and successfully hit every turn (which is unlikely, given that you're probably going to be -1 for long range and -1 for moving. It doesn't specify whether shooting a single target gives you the other -1, so we'll say it's only -2 for 5+ to hit), you're statistically going to kill a single character by the end of the game. That had better be a tooled up chaos lord or vampire lord, otherwise you're not getting the points back for your 300+ point monster. More importantly doing this is going to keep you from getting him in combat.
Alternatively you can toss it in combat with a horde of something expensive and watch them all disappear after 3 rounds of combat.
The gaze is an ability that is nice to use when you're lining up your charges, I just don't think you're using the monster effectively if you're sneaking him around trying to snipe characters. It's much like the giant's "pick up and" attack, and I don't hear many people complain about how overpowered that is.
