Holy wow! The weathering is spot on... well I guess everything on the model is excellent! I really dig the base too, adds a lot of character... wish it were bigger!

Where did you get those great flowers on the base?

Army Painter offers such flowers and typically model railway suppliers too. I never thought they were useful, but seems they are

They are admittedly not often that useful for 40k but I use them quite a lot for FoW and anything that should have a more natural base.

Extremely gorgeous, looks like it came from the FW studio painters. I hope you win the contest.

    Re: Eldar Lynx

Ever since painting up the lynx Ive been a bit in love with the idea of doing an eldar army. After all, they have a number of my favourite models. My only problem was never knowing how to paint their tanks (the thing that held me back every time I wanted to start an army). Well an airbrush and a colour scheme I like has solved that so ONWARDS!

I wanted to do an army that worships Vaul but could not think how to do it. Then the idea hit me. Why wouldnt they have a similar outlook as the adeptus mechanicus? The idea that they could be made stronger with bionic augmentations built out of wraithbone. This changing of their physical form is how they pursue the path of the warrior, ect.

It also gave me access to one of my favourite eldar units (that is also part of one of my favourite deathstar units  ).

Anyways, mumbling aside this is my first bionically augmented eldar which is designed to count as a wraithguard.

Excellent GS work and a very unique concept. I can't wait to see a whole unit of them.

Love it! Nice greenstuffing... perhaps look into making casts so you don't get greenstuff fatigue?

Congrats, this is a wholly original take on the Eldar! Well done, I like the concept and execution so far.

    Re: Eldar Lynx

Ive been working on a few things eldar recently (once again working on many things instead of just one means it has taken me ages to get anything closed to finished).

Firstly I have finally managed to finish my warp hunter. This is in the same scheme as the lynx with different unit markings (that will be shared with the other two warp hunters if I get around to them, just with the runes in different places).

Having been inspired by someone on warseer I have also started converting a phoenix bomber, so thanks to Fable for the idea.
As you can see, Ive extended the back to make it fit the second cockpit and Im trying to turn the two separate engine intakes into one as the FW model has.

Does anyone know how I can change the name of this thread to show that it is generally Eldar stuff? When I try to doesnt seem to do anything.

Report your own thread to the mods.

On the other side, your level of painting is outstanding. I cannot begin to put into words how amazing that Warp Hunter is. I can only hope my vehicles look half this good when they come out. I may have missed this if you answered previously, but did you use an airbrush or is it all brush work? If so, what kind of airbrush and paints did you use?

Awesome work so far. Your conversion is more extensive than mine; I'm really excited to see how it comes out. Also, your painting skills are superb. Your rune work is particularly exceptional.

Yeah I use an airbrush for the blended base colour. I use vallejo paints and the airbrush is a dual action gravity fed airbrush (no named brand).

    Re: Eldar Lynx

Woops, double post. Sorry about that.

Not that much done here, I just didnt like the pistol in the air pose so I sculpted an arm and a magical helix to give it the look of a summoned magic flame.

I also wanted to stick with the theme of the wind blowing that there is going on with the hair of the model so green-stuffed a tree blowing in the same direction.

I had a few choices here, mostly around the magical flames. Firstly was if I should have it following the "wind". I went with no as I felt something "magic" based shouldnt really be affected by the physical world unless the warlock wanted it to me. The next was if I should do OSL around the fire. Now I love OSL but just felt that here it would be a bit much. Im looking for opinions on that as its still something I can add.

Lastly there is not a whole world of freehand on the robes. I decided that with so much already going on with the model adding another focal point was just going to make the miniature too busy for my liking. Again, if people have different opinions on this feel free to voice them.

Anyway, here we go. As always, comments and constructive criticism is welcome.

Geez, leave some talent for the rest of us..

That's really good work, and I agree that the robe should be plain - the facemask has detail already, at this point more would just be more.

As for the OSL, it looks like the hand conjuring the flame has some, so don't bother with more. Once again, nice mini!

    Thanks Sildani.

Excitingly my titan arrived the other day. So far I am up to:

The cast quality is awesome. All except the knees which are pretty air bubble heavy. Out comes the greenstuff!

    Re: Eldar Lynx

Double post.... Bad me. But I thought I would update on the revanant titan.

When I bought it I had a tough choice as I didnt know what one to go for. I really prefer the look of the sonic lances but then think the holo-vein on the back of the pulsar titan looks a lot better. After a long think I went for the pulsar titan, thinking that I would convert the weapons or try to get hold of some sonic lances. I had a bit of a random brain wave as I was looking at the phantom titan (man I need one of those ) and thought that I could go for a close combat weapon. Why wouldnt you want a close combat weapon on a titan with a jump pack after all!?

This led me on to the idea that I could arm it the same way as my wraithguard counts as models, and to match with the D-weapon preference of my craftworld. So Ive ordered another warp hunter for a large D-cannon and then converted up this close combat weapon arm (based on the look of the phantom close combat weapon).

Love where you're taking this, matey. It's lore-rich, and you clearly have both the conversion and painting skills to back it up. The original eldar 'pirate/guardian' minis often had 'wraithbone bionics', and the idea of an Yme-Loc style artisan-rich craftworld gives the scope for many interesting conversions and modifications...

    Keep 'em coming!

But who are ye, in rags and rotten shoes; you dirty-bearded, blocking up the way?...

Love the converted CCW. Can't wait to see it. Your opponents will probably be happy to see that rather than a Pulsar until it leaps in and guts one of their super heavies.
