Cool shields, where did you get them from? And the positioning in front of the dwarves is a good idea.

    Models painted 2011= 45 / 2012 = 62 / 2013 = 32

The shields are made by Sciborminiatures. They are part of their own (evil) dwarf range called Moscawl or something.

These are some great Chaos Dwarfs. Nice to see that at least some of the Warhammer Forge stuff works so well alongside the Big Hats!

And I have another set of pictures ready.
This time I have a small unit of Bull Centaurs with HW/shields. I love these old mini's; they have so much character. The only thing I did was swapping the old shields for some Chaos Marauder ones.

I always loved the old Bullcentaurs and you do them justice. I'm on the other hand not sure if they would fit into my army because of their more classic design anyway: your addition of marauder shields make them look more "modern".

    Yes,

The shields do help. The are more sloped/rounded instead of the old flat circles, which is more realistic.

In the meantime, I have finished my Iron Daemon project. It took me quit some time, but I loved every minute of it. How often does one get to assemble and paint up a evil dwarf steampunk train? The only slight downside is that the dwarfs dissapear behind the huge train . I will use it as a Iron Daemon for my Chaos Dwarfs (duh!) or as a (rather large) Organ Gun in a Dwarf army.

Pure money. Love it. Fantastic wheathered metal effect. A little OSL from the glowing lave would push this over the top!

Thanks for your kind words. I might actually try OSL on these. I have used it on Dark Angels before and never thought of using it on my fantasy models.

Besides spending time on the slopes with my snowboard, I managed to finish my first 10 hobgoblins.
As most of my units, I still need to draw something on the banner, but I plan to do that once I have figured out what theme to use.

After a short break from painting my Chaos Dwarfs (busy painting some Ravenwing and scenery) I saw the new Kdai Fireborn on Forge World and wanted them straight away. The sculpts look better IRL if you ask me, and I can't wait to see them integrated on my lava bases and painted up. I have high hopes for these mini's.

    Thanks!

And the first K'daai Fireborn is painted. I was pleasently surprised by these models. The amount of details is amazing. There are lots of chaisn running through the fire body and the armor is truly engulfed in flames. I think a better painter would be able to make golden deamon material out of this and I expect them to turn up in different amies as different models. Etherial (green) or smocky (grey) would suit these models just as well.

But since my theme and bases have lava, my colours are fiery afcourse. Their bases were easy to intergrate into my lava bases with the help of some green stuff. Here we are:

Only five more models to go!

They are bigger then I expected as they are larger then a regular bull centaur or ogre. I will try to get a size pic up soon.

    What do you guys think?

Real cool fire elemental thing. Also, your warmachines, from forgeworld, are the best paint scheme I've seen for them so far.

    Thank you very much.
Not everyone is enthousiastic about the monochrome approach. I am glad to hear you like it.

As promised some size comparison pictures of the K'daai Fireborn (or fire elemental thing ).
Keep in mind: Those are big hat chaos dwarfs, so if you take their hats into account they are slightly larger then a skaven.

    Thanks you!
    Feedback is always appreciated.

I am not a member on Chaos-Dwarfs.com, though I have lurked there a couple of times. I even mentioned you guys in this blog a couple of posts ago as the place where I got my inspiration for the Hobgoblin kit-bash. Seen some nice conversions of Detroyers there as well, which I might give a go. I decided to start the painting log here, because I would like to start more logs on different armies in the future and want them in the same forum. Would the people over at chaos-dwarfs.com appriciate a link to this log on their forum, or is that considered "not done"?

Anyway, good luck on your own CD plog!

Thx, and yes, I think they would appreciate if accompanied by some pics of the comleted Units. They collect pics of painted units in the image gallery and want us to link to the plogs, disregarding the source of the plog. You can see how I have done it in post 61 here.

    Happy painting!

The first 3 Fireborn are done!

After looking at some pictures of real fires, I decided to add some black smokeyness to the flames that are furthest away from the core.
I am pleased with the subtile effect and constrast it adds.
