LotR Mirkwood and Rivendell 750pts

LotR or WotR army list: LotR

So I'm planning on bringing out my elves to play some games with the new books. Trying to decide which list is better/more fun. The first pays a lot of points per model. I expect they will be outnumbered, and I wont have the armor to lose many fights. However, I'm thinking if I can use my superior ranged abilities to bring the enemy into a favorable position, I can counter attack a flank with lots of throwing weapons and create favorable fights.

The second list loses the throwing weapons but gets an extra 5 bodies.

I prefer the second because I don't think the mirkwood guard upgrade is worth the amount it costs, throwing weapons are very good, especially in the hands of elves, I would keep them. I'd also stress that you ought to have at least one banner, you are highly disadvantaged in the to the death scenario if you don't have one.

Otherwise it all looks pretty good, one idea you could try is leading the high elf group with elladan and elrohir, they're better investments than either a captain or erestor and you don't really need the 4th warband leader if there is no-one in the warband. You could even think about a single, more expensive hero to lead the high elves, like glorfindel.

I actually quite like the list in principle, might even give it a try some time.

It would be useful to stick a banner in there. I can drop the mirkwood guard upgrade on the wood elves with throwing daggers, saves me enough points to buy a high elf with banner.

I'll stick with Erestor and the Captain for now, since I have those models. I'll have to pick up Elladan and Elrohir eventually.
