Thread: My OOP Dwarf's

  1. #1

    OOP dwarf & Gobbo

So where to begin? Like many people i've found myself drawn back into the hobby after a break about 20 years. Having realised that there was a thriving market of old metal out there, and a big fan of dwarfs in my youth i have been slowly trying to build up these lovely figures. I've now been painting for coming up to a year and have posted my work on both Bugmans Brewery and The Warhammer Forum, so these photo's are taken from that period, although my painting hasn't really improved over the year, my ability to take a decent photo has. So hope you like.

Lovely models and characterful painting. I am very envious of your collection as I love 80s citadel stuff. I have a plog and blog dedicated to 80s Realm of Chaos stuff and hope one day to move on to dwarfs. Both RoR box sets are high on my wants.

    Looking forwards to seeing more!

    @Grain Weevil: Thanks

@Swope: The classic imperial dwarf was based on your medieval knights, so do look rather Bretonnian but just with more style and class

    So some more...

    Thunderers

    And some Rangers

Ahh I love OOP dwarfs, really inspires me to start painting my own!

Did you buy them all off ebay or did you have a stash from 20 years ago?

Love the scheme, simple but looks great!

Wonderful looking models and great paintjobs - even better as they are in my teams colours (The mighty Norwich City!)

@Baggers: i don't need anyone else bumping up the Ebay price

@shelfunit.: Thanks for comments, better Norwich than the person who thought they could be L.U.H.G and as a Southampton fan its good to see Surman playing so well for your lot.

Anyway here's more of my work, all in all not bad for a years work

    Some non dwarfy stuff

Awesome project! My dwarf army from back in the day is made up of the same models. I never got around to painting them, so it's great to see a similar army with such a great job done on it... keep up the good work .

This reminds me a lot of Wayne England's dwarf army, which looked very similar but with a blue and white paint scheme.
It has been brought to my attention that there is also a character called enyos in Buffy the Vampire slayer. Note that my username predates him by several years, not the other way around

@enyoss: I think anyone who loves OOP dwarf's, will have a love for Wayne England's great work.

    Re: My OOP Dwarf's

This is what dwarfs should look like, rather than all braided beards, metal stone throwers (still never quite managed to rationalise that one) and norse symbols all over the shop....

I love these older models and really hanker for the days of hundreds of individual lead models on the table.... makes me quite misty eyed!
