SuperDans Big Space Wolves Plog and the odd Ultramarine

    Hello,

Never know how to start properly... Anyway This is (hopefully) will be a long and well updated Plog of my Wolves with maybe the odd other 40k model thrown in.

Now as of now i have been playing GW games for about 10 years with a big 5 year break until last year of just not bothering, but i am determined now that thats going to change! I've been playing space wolves since around the time of the black crusade campaign thing and they quickly became my favourite army.

My collection has steadily grown and grown and i thought with some new Sw stuff out this week that I'm certainly going to buy some of I'd try and motivate myself to paint my vast horde.

The name for my company is not set i was thinking something like the Blood Moons but sounds a bit to much like Orks i think, either way my great company currently contains:

    1x Wolf Lord
    2x Rune priests
    1x Wolf priest
    1x Ulrick Slayer
    1x Logan grimnar
    3x Blood Claws
    3x Grey Hunters
    2x Dreadnaughts
    2x scouts
    6x Rhinos
    2x Predators
    1x Whirlwind
    8x Bikes (2 units)
    2x Land Speeders
    10x WG terminators
    2x Long Fangs units

And Very soon 6 Thunder wolf cav one of which will become a wolf lord

Now most of this stuff is either part painted or undercoated but an awful lot of work to do, now with it being SW I'm planning on snow tundra bases none of which i have done yet as i have only just found the method i want to use.

But who cares about all that stuff time for some juicy pictures :P

Just finished this chap about 10 minutes ago first SW model i've finished for some time, he is of course one of my 2 rune priests Hope you like him he's going to be called Findar, back pack is a bit thick with paint as it's from an older model.

Quite pleased with him, my base colour for wolves armour is darker than the usual GW scheme but i think with bright snow bases it would look to bright

This is my finished long fang (needs rebasing)

My plan with every unit is that they will have unique free hand squad markings so that kind of slows up the painting process :P you can also see the great company colours being red

And finally 2 of my 6 WiP Rhinos

These arn't to far off being painted but i find them really boring to paint and i want to do some snow weathering so delayed

Anyway i hope you like Comments and feed back is always appreciated,

Will try and get some more stuff done by end of the week if not next update could be Thunderwolf builds

Thanks a lot Yeah never been one for rules : P I really like the models tbh and it just grew a bit out of control xD i've ignored Astartes rules even further with this army as i think only about 4 men in the army have helmets, the tanks have sort of become the bane of my life in someways cause getting a uniform freehand isn't that easy across 6 rhinos glad you like them I'll try and get one finished soon, try and inspire myself to finish them all.

Glad you like him I'd had him part painted for quite a while but i really like him now he's finished made me realise the colour scheme really works better than i thought it would, and again thanks for the free hand

Thanks you seems to be a general theme with this plog already :P, I've added a couple of extra bits to some of them since that photo was taken so i will try and get one done up

Thought I'd do a quickish update on progress and stuff, this is the only newly painted SW model I've done, bit of a practice model more than anything with regards to painting the wolf guard termies but quite like how he's turned out his shoulder pad is a bit thick with paint cause i was originally going to do yellow pads but prefer red

The base is also a bit of a wip as i had been playing around with snow effects and want to have some rocks and stuff to break up the tundra

This is my wolf priest i painted him a while ago and keep thinking about a new paint job i don't know seems a bit dull but it's probably just cause he is black armoured but i thought i'd show him cause i love the model

I thought rather than make a whole new plog for my Ultramarine army I'd just stick up the odd progress shot of them, I have a battle company of ultras based on the 2nd company model but without the rhinos, most of my 10 man squads are painted so i may take some photos eventually of them.

meanwhile thought I'll show some of the models i've painted for the army, but don't worry this will mainly be a SW list (cause they're cooler :P)

Terminator is not quite 100% but not to far off, got these guys the FW ultras shoulder pads as it worked out cheaper than hunting down new shoulder bits

I appoligise for the odd blurry/dark photo

Anyway hope you like, problem now is i can't decide what to paint next :P Thunderwolves have been ordered so hopefully be here early next week can't wait to build them up feel free to leave criticism, compliments or questions thanks for looking

Re: SuperDans Big Space Wolves Plog

    Small update

    Couple of WiP pics

Found the old wolf guard models in my bitz box from my really old 13th company army and thought be awesome to use them, the one with the power sword i had to do a head swap because the giant forehead the original had just looked awful

trying to mainly work through the terminators and characters at the mo with my second rune priest probably being the next character i try and finish

hope you like, i have to ask cause i can't decide do you think the light creamyish leather on the pelt (as in on my finished terminator) or the red leather like the rune priest and wolf priest? I can't decide which i prefer but i think i'd like some uniformity. Also does anyone know a good place to get decent sized cork boulders for bases and the such preferably cheap ones

Re: SuperDans Big Space Wolves Plog

This is rapidly turning into a daily update plog, forgot how much i enjoyed painting SW characters and the odd wolf guard

Still got just over 60 normal marines that i'm neglecting ah well soon maybe?

Anyway here's my second Rune priest, I've tried to make him look a considerably different with hand swaps and different hair/fur colours, anywho hope you like
he's gonna be called Lars Kristenson i reckon (mainly cause i have a ginger friend called Kris)

Also i pretty much finished/repainted my old metal wolf guard, i use most of them as pack leaders usually the yellow and black shoulder pad is the wolf guard marking i use on all my power armoured wolf guards, will probably re do his hair as it doesn't look great also thinking of changing his sword with something plastic from the current troop sprues

Anyway hope you like them, thinking of sticking with the yellowy cream cloak lining over the red please feel free to tell me your thoughts etc or advice always looking at new ways to improve my painting and the army.

Looking good! The free hand markings look great, just worried that with all the characters out of the way you will not want to paint 60+ marines with nothing to break it up?

    Good luck!!!

Thanks this is very true but good news I started the troops today realised that the SW models are so unique and differently poseable they kind of act like characters themselves, although i may struggle with 60+ xD

Rhinos may be delayed I', debating stripping them and starting from beginning with a stencil for the thing on the top but we shall see

So a slow update today primarly cause of going to a party last night and not feeling to hot today

But I managed to force myself to paint 1 man! Only 100 or so more to go!
Now i don't know if everyone will look like this or what but I'd like to know what you think cause I'm always lacking in motivation : P

I'm pretty pleased personally quite like his squad marking to turned out a lot better than i thought it would, the lack of basing will be a common thing cause it is my least favourite of tasks to do.

Also good news, my thunderwolves arrived yesterday, but i wasn't in for the post, boooo, but I'll pick them up tomorrow and hopefully get an update sorted with building them or what not.

Hope you like comments and critics always appreciated

Re: SuperDans Big Space Wolves Plog

Thanks again, i am super pleased with him, obviously goes to same stylists as Dragonball Z stars

anyways been playing around with basing stuff today and got baking soda pretty much everywhere but success!
Also i started building my thunderwolves last night and couldnt wait to have a bash at painting one, so yeah heres my first wolf, rider has been built but not painted yet so he'll likely be next

Quite pleased on the whole though think needs a bit of touching up here and there, also think i desperately need to find something to break up the snow any ideas?

Currently building the other wolves may be a while before much painting on them though as i need to pick up some more spray anyway thoughts and the such would be apretiated

not 100% on the kit i do love the wolves but the riders im a little dissapointed with the detail on the armour compared with the normal foot troops is not as good, plus attaching the stormshields is not the easiest of things with these models, think i'm going to have to find somewhere else to stick them

    PS
Rider and Wolf before basing & painting

Anyway more updates to follow with any luck

Finished one of my thunderwolves quite pleased with the wolf and the pose not 100% on the paint job on the rider, still a little bit to do now that i look at him let me know what you think

    sorry for fingers etc
I'd like to know what you think of the squad marking, isn't really any suggestion for thunder wolf markings as (i don't think) they are wolf guard, grey hunters or blood claws so i thought i'd try something unique for them.

Progress may slow up a bit over next couple of weeks as my final year uni deadlines are approaching rapidly and can't really procrastinate any more xD
Anyway hope you like let me know what you think

Very nice job, the bases look very good, and go well with the SW Marines, newest SW on Wolf looks great cant wait to see him next to a few others.

Re: SuperDans Big Space Wolves Plog

    Update of progress etc

My uni work is done and done for the time being so going to have a little time off and continue painting

i managed to get another couple of grey hunters painted

Quite pleased with them although the lighting isn't great, still 1/3 of a squad done wooo just another 57 or so to go...

I've put the thunderwolves on hold for the minute mainly cause i'm out of white spray for the wolves but they will get done, current project is a Nigel who i picked up off ebay for £6.50, annoyingly he's missing his pigeon friend but I kind of prefer him without i think, little green stuff to fix where he was and job done, anyway this guy is very much a wip just finished his face and fair quite pleased although his pigtails seem less detailed than they should be, hope you like

and finally a possible future addition not sure what i'll use them as but i found these chaps in my bits box the last remnants of my 13th company army i have a 3rd one who is missing his chain sword but still such awesome models will have to find a use for them somewhere

anyway comments and the such always welcome

theres a guy down in plymouth who plays at the Gaints Lair, thats used sentinel legs and ork bits, to create some very savage looking dreadnoughts that look a bit more capable of traveling across Fenris then ur regular stumpy Dreadnoughts, http://www.paw2012.co.uk/index.php/p...ammer-40k.html
