Go for it! I hope you have a blast.
You will also find your views about various units changing when the mission objectives cease to be standard. Some of the "never seen" units start getting used.
Also you will start to care about the fate of various characters and units; needing to conserve forces for future battles also changes the feel a lot.
If we have provided a little inspiration I am pleased.
A great campaign, well done
I hope to post it up here when we get it started. My friends are starting new armies and I am painting up some new units so we decided we will start with 6th ed rules and see how we go.
Now I'm sad that the campaign is done, and looking very forward to the next one.
Having talked about it, we have decided against doing a final wrap-up game for this campaign. It would involve the Necrons arriving, and the Imperials fleeing for their lives. There are two reasons for this; 1) The Imperials won the campaign, and it seemed wrong to kill them off. 2) 6th edition is looming, and we’re all shifting gears a bit, looking forward to the new system. So we’ll wrap this up under fifth. So, to wrap things up, here is the epilogue.
Final Epilogue: The Senusnet Dynasty
Three months after Amadeus was defeated, deep system scouts detected a large fleet incoming. Jackal class raiders proceeded a Cairn class Tombship and a trio of Shroud class light cruisers. Surprisingly, the newcomers did not open fire and silently made their way to Dacia’s orbit.
Upon arrival, the Necron fleet sent out a message in low gothic.
“Do not interfere.”
A single Night Scythe alighted outside Sforza’s ruined base, and a Necron Lord, a pair of Crypteks and a bodyguard of Immortals materialised. They made their way directly to the room in which the Tesseract Labyrinth had been stored, one of the Crypteks leading the way with some arcane auspex.
Terrified and bewildered Cadians tried to bar their way, and bloodshed seemed imminent as the Immortals raised their guass blasters. However, Interrogator Bain waved them down. He locked eyes with the Lord.
“I don’t know what you hope to find here, but your box is gone. However, I know that we cannot stop you. If you wish to study an empty room, I’ll avoid needless death amongst my men.”
“Very wise,” replied the Lord, bowing courteously. “I am Var Uragal of the Bronze. A Var is a low ranking noble, similar to one of your diplomats or emissaries. I have not come to kill, we simply seek the return of what is ours.”
“As I said, Xenos, your box is gone.”
“We realise that. However, we wish to take sensor readings, if we may?” Bain walked down the corridor, waving him after him. “You and your techno-sorcerors may follow me. Your…men stay here.”
“How kind. In return for your hospitality, allow me to furnish you with some answers that may have been bothering you. Long ago, the Phaeron of our dynasty feared the power of the Beast. So he sent it away, to a dead world to be buried. He made us forge the Ateph Hedjet, or Death Crown in your tongue, to further seal the box. An unnecessary over-reaction.”
“So, it can be opened again, even without the crystals?” Bain looked sick.
“With the right technology, yes. They were an extra layer of security. We buried them separately, hoping they would not be uncovered. Then, in our sleep your people came and made this world teem with life.” The last word was tinged with disgust. “We designed them so that when two came together, they would broadcast a signal, warning us that they were being gathered.”
“Yes, I realise that now. If you buried it, why do you want it back?”
“Our original master was mad. When we re-awoke, his engrammatic pathways had degraded so far he could not be re-awakened. Our new master does not fear the C’Tan, and wishes to have its power back. So he sent us to retrieve it, lest it fall in to the wrong hands. My personal master, Lord Aurikal of the Gold has led this mission to curry favour with our new Lord.”
When they reached the room, the Cryptek’s made a substantial sweep, scanning every last mote of dust for clues. They reported the information to Uragal, and he immediately turned to leave.
“The wrong hands indeed. You have my thanks, human. We are in a hurry, so I will petition my master not to obliterate this planet as a matter of gratitude.”

Aboard the Tombship, Lord Aurikal of the Gold sat upon his throne, and listened to Uragal’s report.
“Comorragh.” He stated.
“Yes, my liege. The Cryptek’s clearly picked up traces of a webway portal that was activated in that room. We also picked up traces of the subdimensional movement, likely from the shadow walkers. We have dispatched the Deathmarks to attempt to track them down.”
Aurikal nodded. “It is unlikely that they will succeed, but they must try. It is galling to be so close. If only we were quicker. I will honour your request to not destroy the humans. We must proceed as best we can, and this planet may prove useful if we need more information.”
“How will we proceed, my Lord?”
“Of all the places in all the universe – or indeed, outside it, I can conceive of no harder place to enter than the domain of the Dark Eldar.” He paused, thinking. “It is time to call in our ancestral ties with the Novohk Dynasty. I recall hearing that they were making a move to find the legendary Matrintis.”
“Matrintis?” Uragal started. “You can’t mean…”
“Yes, my vassal. We will enter the webway itself!”
I hope you’ll join us in a few months time, when the dust of 6th has settled, when we start our next campaign: The Rise of Matrintis!

Don't dismiss my anger as mindless fury.I assure you,it has a purpose!
This was very enjoyable! There is nothing better than a good narrative campaign with well painted armies and good landscape. This kind of game playing is one of the main reasons I came back to 40k after some 15-16 years away from it. Thank you for validating my decision to return to the game.
Glad you liked it. This is not our first campaign; for that see http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...garos+campaign
