nice work on the lights, how do you switch them on/off?

They are actually plugged in via the rhino's interior, a photo from the finish model will show what i mean. It's just a simple case of removing the battery.

Great stuff Hawke, though I can't help thinking that as cool as the LED headlights are it's kind of a shame given how good your source lighting is on the others! Always love seeing the transfilers too.

the model actually has the OSL around the bulbs, it does look a bit odd, but so long as your not at eye height it still works fine.

This is perhaps the best log I've seen on warseer. Ever. How do you get your models to looks so gritty? Is there a tutorial somewhere? I love the dusty bases and the red smears on your models and vehicles, it makes them come alive.

Well..... this is a suprisingly nice comment! i don't usually get alot of feedback, i don't think people share my taste for the decayed and the dirty. As for the tutorial, there is indeed a tutorial. I did it a while back and it can be found Here!

It'll give you a guide to my techniques and how i achieve the tank scheme.

I'm a little more wash heavy on infantry, and but the majority of the techniques are the same, even the lens effects.

As for weathering powders, it's down to the manufacture quality, for example i've got forgeworlds which grip like a beast, and have become the mainstay of my weathering techniques, where as the bases/sand is vallejo, which are pretty iffy to work with, they don't have the same grip/vibrancy. In honest i'd give forgeworld a whirl, i've bought two of them to date, both of which rocked my socks off and have lasted 9 months+ through 3 armies without running out.

Well, I'll take your advice and go with the FW ones. I was going to order some stuff anyway, and if theirs sticks better I suppose it's the best choice for a noob such as myself. Thanks for the advice and keep up the good work, the Iron Warriors look stunning, and a a bonus they even have a new codex on the way so there's something to keep the pressure up for

Also, I really like the fluff-bits. Every decent log should have fluff-bits in them. I've always seen the children of Olympia as something akin to ancient macedonians, and started making up some organization schemes for my own army, the 7th Phalanx of the 9th Grand Company of the Iron Warriors. It's based on what I could find on Lexicanum and in various WD articles from back when WD was cool and filled with this sort of stuff... The macedon names and ranks are partly made-up and partly sourced from various internet-pages on the Army of Alexander and Phillip. Anyways, this is sort of what I've come up with so far:

12 Grand Companies with 1000 marines in each

Each Grand Company divided into 10 Phalanxes of 100 marines

Each Phalanx divided into 10 Iochagos of 10 Marines



VIIth Phalanx, IX Grand Company of the Iron Warriors

Warsmith Pherae, Leader of the Phalanx

Chief-Magos Aelian, commander of the Mechanicus Auxilia and advisor on technical lore to the Warsmith

Champion Epaminondas, Master of Arms and champion of the Warsmith

Update time.... now before you see it i must mention it's a rather battered looking model. I've had it for several months, and decided to refit it with LED's (no small task, i built is pretty solid, and the adjustments did a fair bit of asthetic damage).

thanks man, i just hope it pays off in the final model. Only time will tell.

Now, as proof it's a bad idea to go into your local store with money in your pocket i left with a white dwarf, black paint and two models for my Ad-mec project (which was initially booked in for december once the guard project was squared off). Here's a preview, please note the model is barely held together by a bit of glue and some blu-tac, it's just a preview so don't judge it yet but i wanted to see what people though of my choice of pilot.

Six months of silence has now been shattered. I have returned to my chaos log once more, enriched by my time doing a pre-heresy force (so expect a major jump in quality).

This time i'm going to be making most of those termies from earlier in this thread. I want to make a termie army, and i've never had much luck using space wolves (that drop pod penalty is a pain) so i settled on this list to begin with;

Squad Asmodeus (Deathwing Knights) with relic

Squad Asag (DW), assault cannon, chainfist

I know the quality is all over the place with these, but this is a salvage and rebuild project, so don't judge until its done. The Knights will be made by converting the cataphractii (see the front guy with the mace.)



The only group that i'm happy with, Squad Asag.



Plenty of character in there.... just 22 terminators to finish building.

i do like the dreadknight kit, but the defiler just makes for a much more imposing model.

IF? Imperial fists? Such an insult will not be tolerated. I collect iron warrior my friend.

Plan wise i have one;
Tau 1500pt; 7 months, roughly 1-2 units a month.

Iron Warriors; 10 veteran, monday. 27 model deathwing core force, 1 decimator 1 landraider. No time scale, but all build and converted by march.

Orks; Wazdakka and a good few bikers, no timeline.

1000pt whf daemons; 35 models, nothing major. Mid-april deadline.


Update time, Squad Byleth is close to being finished, but i feel it needs something adding to it. I've also been toying with magnetisation before i snapped my drill bit doing the heavy weapon magnets (i want to be able to switch the autocannon with a plasmacannon for WYSIWYG).






i've also stripped and modified my chaos sorc for wysiwyg;



C&C welcomed, but not expected.

Updates for Ipos and Gusion, the plasmacannons arrived and have been magnetised. It's created two particularly bad ass unit members. I'm now about 90% wysiwyg, with work left to do, i've also found an old apoth-kit from a GK set, so now i've got a medik for any future command squads.
